Do you feel as if SEO is out of your control?

SEO is way more subtle than direct advertising and much of the result as to whether or not you will appear in Google search is out of your control. You might optimize and even backlink but there are still no guarantees. When it comes to SEO, do you feel out of control as if Google is the one dictating who gets into search and who doesn't?

In some sense of the way, yes. I feel as though it is out of our control. A person can SEO their content perfectly, by updating their site regularly, writing keywords naturally, etc. But ultimately at the end of the day, it's what the bots see as relevant. You can rank on the first page one day, then be on the third the next.

Do what you think is right, then cross your fingers and hope for the best, as there's no guarantee!

It is not just Google but also the other search engines are taking control of SEO. However, it is just an impression because our SEO methods may work tomorrow or perhaps next month. That indefinite time for the SEO work to take effect is what makes SEO work more challenging. There is a sort of mystery that emanates from the search engines which we can only guess for now.
