Common mistakes in SEO

One of the biggest problems with SEO are little mistakes made. For instance, sometimes the lack of robots.txt file or inclusion of User-agent: *Disallow: / in the robots.txt file. This means the bots won't be able to index any of the pages on that site.

Use Alt tag for images otherwise search engine can not read image and hierarchical use of Header tag as h1,h2,h3.. to out line and highlight the content.

The most common mistakes found in many cases is not building strong on Page and avoiding or not properly making use of the guidelines with respect to meta tags, and alt tags, many of them forget to add alt tag to images and this leads to the image link going useless as it has no title for the page it is linking to (if any)
Also, I have found in many cases sitemaps are missing, this creates a confusion for the user if he accidentally arrives to the site and tries to search for the information, and apart from the information page, lands on some other page and then just clicks off from the site, this will not help the user though and also it will happen that user might not visit the site again.

Not using unique content. If you have copied content from a site, you could have your site banned or delisted by the search engines.

People who think it's the "amount" of links that is the most important thing, or solely relying on page rank alone.
Basically seo needs to look as natural and random (humanized) as possible.
That includes PRO, n/a, new sites, old sites, varied links and various platforms...

Link really does matter but that doesn't mean you will bring a bunch of crap. Link is the main building blocks in SEO, without links a website can never stand in the search ranking.

But while building link always remember that it is not enough to produce link, rather you have to produce quality and relevant link. Then only you can get the benefits that you are supposed to get through link building method.

Most common mistake is the quality of content. There should be keywords and good content on site. People don't use Keywords in their sites

I have read in one discussion about a question on how to make money with a copied website. It is a clone of another website. It is a good example of a mistake that you can do with your website. A copied content is tantamount to plagiarism and it will certainly hurt the SEO capability of your website. I think even just a line that was copied from another site can cause a slide of your SEO ranking. In other words, your contents should be unique and original to avoid the possibility of having duplicate contents.
