    What are some clever ways to get backlinks?

    Other than reciprocal link exchanges, what are some clever or unique ways to get backlinks to your blog or site?

    Some ways that I've used include:

    Submitting articles to directories/blogs along with signature line/link
    Backlinking from free classified ad sites (do follow)
    Creating a blog network and backlinking to a main site
    Posting links from Google + posts/pages

    I have a software, which checks out backlinks of any site I want, sorts all of them: platform type (WP blogs, article directories, blogs, social bookmarks...), dofollow/nofollow, OBL count, response time, Page rank... This is how I scrape for quality backlinks with a few clicks What are some clever ways to get backlinks?

    You missed an very important one: commenting on blogs. Be sure to stay active on your favorite blogs, this way you will create a constant stream of backlinks without much effort.


    Sometime back, i used nothing but blog commenting to promote one of my blogs. Many times, I got direct traffic from those links as well as placement in search engines. But, i only used targeted blog commenting, not just mass blog commenting. And, the comments were on related blogs.

    Use Web directories
    One of the best ways to Get Backlinks is by submitting your blog to web directory services.
    This way you are letting the world know that there is something like yellow pages for your phone numbers that you can find websites using web directories.
    This will also increase your chances of getting more traffic and thereby search engine ranking.
    Submit every page or post of your website or blog to these directories and it will not take more than five minutes, depending on the amount of the blogs that you are going to submit.

    Forum Posting

    1. Posting and voicing your opinions in forums is one of the best ways to propaganda your blog posts and these forums are extremely important in playing a vital role for building back links to your websites.
    2. You have to choose forums that has do follow options, as in most of the forums the administrators do not allow do follow links.
    3. Add signature with anchor text as your keyword and start posting, please don’t spam.

    Link Baiting

    1. When you are doing this, you are fishing using a net for links.
    2. Baiting is nothing but content is specifically made for only gathering links from the other sources.
    3. Though this is used less these days, it is still considered as a good technique if used properly.

    It seems everyone already suggested everything available.
    Just be sure the site you gonna post on are quality sites. Don't always focus on dofollow links, having nofollow backlinks is a good thing too.

    Just visiting websites and leave comments.. try popular website first with higher ranking. Everyday blog comments are ok . I feel like - never can have enough backlinks

    This works as long as you don't repost your content on many forums. Most admins will ban you for duplicate content.

    Some forums ban you, but some are just fine, as long as you don't copy the WHOLE article and report it there. A short intro post with a link back will just be fine.

    I've seen some people post entire articles on the forum and then link back to their blog. And, somehow that defeats the purpose as you really want people to read a sample of the article and click through to your own site, rather than stay on the forum.

    But wouldn't that also affect the forum itself having a duplicate content?

    And, i'm not saying it's a good then when someone posts duplicate content, just that i've seen it. Another thing, some forum owners don't want you to post an excerpt and link to the original as that would take traffic off their site, meaning they'd prefer the entire article to be posted on their own forum.

    If i saw someone doing that, i'd probably keep the excerpt and strip the link out. As forum owner, that's my prerogative. It would depend on how well the user contributed to the rest of the forum as to whether i'd let them link to their own forum with an excerpt.

    Some of these have more value than others. Getting users engaged on social media so they spread the word about your posts is a good way to establish credibility with search engines.

    If you just keep an excerpt and strip the link out, wouldn't be the post be incomplete?

    lol! Really, that's just too bad for them. Though even a paragraph of excerpted content is still going to contain some value.

    No unique ways? There are lots of them actually, it's just, they are kept secret and not out in the public.
    Once they are out, they can't be unique anymore...

    Here's a unique way to fet backlinks and you can make it auto if you want to. Set up an article directory of you own and then let those people upload their articles. Now it might be hard this because SEOs today don't suggest this to linkbulders but it will work ifyou article dirctory is a niche focus. Then to have backlinks add you sites to this article directory blogroll.the more rticles the more baclinks you have.

    One of the best ways i have just recently found is to post a thread and insert a link somewhere in the post like this. For example that link on this is to go to google.com which would be a back link.

    One clever way that I know is between 2 popular blogs that they cross link their backlinks with each other. Since they are both popular then it is like doubling the efficiency of their backlinks. I don’t know if this cross linking or reciprocal linking is popular with bloggers but it is one good trick that I see and I don’t think it can be susceptible to a sanction because it is not a link farm
