Google: Verify Listings or Be Removed

Google has been sending out emails to some business owners. These emails state that the businesses will need to reverify their listings within three weeks. If three weeks goes by and they are not verified again, the listing will be dropped from Google Maps and Google Plus.

At this time it is uncertain of how many businesses have received this email. Jade Wang, from Google, said that these emails should be taken seriously. If the email is not taken seriously, and February 21 comes and goes without the business owner taking action, then the business will not have a place in Google Maps nor on Google Plus.

To keep your business in the listing, you can achieve this in three easy steps. First log in to your google places account then review the information there. Update the info in need be. Then click submit. Even if you did not receive the email, you can follow these steps to make sure that your business is not in jeopardy of being removed.

I guess it would be a good idea for anyone to login and see if they need to update this just so they do not lose their spot!

Google just wants to ensure it's listings are authoritative and contain the most accurate information. Any business owner that really cares about his or her business will take the time to verify the listing. This benefits not only the business but potential customers searching for their type of service.

Yes Beverly you are correct. It will not take that much time to verify it and it is worth it.
