What do you think about forum promotion sites?

Are you a member of a forum that offers promotion packages, such as 'post to earn advertising' or 'post to earn posts', etc. With a forum promotion site you can earn advertising by making posts on the site. With each post you are awarded forum cash that can be used on various forum promotion packages.

What do you think of these forum promotion sites? Do they work to bring in new members? Are they worthwhile?

I would say that they are worthwhile if they are going to bring new members in. This is ultimately a goal that everyone should have so they can have the best forum that they can.

I think they're great, I am an old member of ForumPromotion.net, one of the biggest if not the biggest forum promotion based forums. I think the amount of failed short lived promotion forum that have been around ruin the niche for a lot of people.

They only hold so much value in terms of learning, I have found they're more for beginners as they're they type of user they tend to attract. Not meaning this in a bad way, just has always felt that way to me.

Regards,
Karoshio

I agree, I have been with FP for a while now as a staff member and I love the site. It has really benefited me in promoting my website and even some of my services here at Seocheckout and has really built up some reputation for myself as well.

I have seen several forums that help promote your site. In fact, one is even named forumpromotion which describes the theme of the forum. If the community is large with a big number of active members then it would be effective to post your advertisement there. And if your post is creative and informative then probably you can acquire walk in members from that community.

As far as advertising, I think it really depends on the forum's niche. That said, I have never really understood the idea of marketing to people who are marketing the same thing to you. So, the idea of forum owners promoting their site to forum owns does not seem all that productive.

That said, earning posts on your site is a different story. Forums require a lot of social proof in order to attract members. That social proof comes in the form of a consistent level of activity and good threads. So, having "professions", who know what they are doing and helping to prime the pump, that does have a lot of real value.
