Business cards, tshirts, hats, etc

This holiday season we attended a party for the homeowners in our village. We took pictures and we created a Facebook Page for the purpose. And to get the people know of the pictures and videos on the Facebook Page is thru the small tarpaulin that we printed and displayed in a conspicuous place for the residents of our village to see. It is harder than promoting online but offline promotion is challenging.

Business cards, tshirts, hats, etc

I have tried shirts which I designed myself and sell them to friends. For hats, I haven't yet tried it.
Do you have any sample on how they do it on hats?

Bumper stickers and flyers are another way to promote. If your business/site is related to the local community you could also try magnetic car signs (for your own/friends vehicles).

That's a good idea. Now all I need is to find a shop where I could order customized items like that...
Would billboards or newspaper advertisement helps?

Some online stores will customize bumper stickers and T-Shirts for you with a logo/site address.

As for billboards, that can be costly depending on your location. But it could pay off if you want a local following.

No but you should give them away. Budget to order 50 or so and distribute them out to friends/family. Promoting websites offline

It's really cool that your friends and family would give you such good support for your site and even pay you for the T-shirts. Most people would just prefer a freebie or hand out and that can get expensive. It's nice when your advertising actually pays you.

Well, the payment I got all goes to the site's funds. I.E. domain renewal and such.

If you have no budget, it’s difficult to promote your website offline. The cost of tarpaulin now is not that expensive but you still need to post it somewhere. And you know that it is illegal to post anywhere unless you have the permission. Depending on the kind of website that you are promoting, you can choose a billboard on the road or a moving bus or perhaps even your car. From what I see, it’s far easier to promote your website online than offline.
