Most times, an email will be assigned to the spam filter based on email title or content. This is done automatically by the email software. One way to avoid the spam box is by taking out the typical spam word triggers such as 'make money' or related terms. Ask your email subscribers to white list your email address, so your emails will be allowed. Sometimes, even legitimate looking emails will end up in the spam box if they don't.

If you send personalized email then it won't go to spam folder.

You can send personalized email using outlook's mail merge feature which is really too effective I would say.

Design an attractive squeeze page that funnels your visitors into your site. Always advertise your squeeze page first, no matter if you own a blog, e-store or forum. This way you can ensure your visitors sign up to your list and no matter if they stay one minute or an hour, you will always have a way to reach them via email, which means possible return visits/sales.

Choose a profitable niche, pick a winning affiliate product and then set up a series of autoresponder messages. After you have done that, start marketing to get sign ups to your email list. Then communicate with the list regularly, such as once a week or every few days, even once the auto responder series has ended. Don't just make the emails about advertising though, offer really good advice.

What do your email subscribers want to know? Are they interested in losing weight? Earning money? Whatever it is, talk about that and they won't unsubscribe.

I think answer lies in the practice you wish to adopt. For example, you may want to sell something to the users. But users are not interested in it. Then you have to move to the users who are interested. And then decide what and how much you can sell to them. That practice will surely help in building some credibility. Otherwise chasing every user and trying to sell to them is a way to get spam.

I have been receiving email spam which is a click bait spam. It is neatly done that you will not suspect it to be spam. The email is the advertisement of a bank that contains the real thing, so you wouldn’t suspect that it is spam. However when you click on the icon that says you need to click it, what comes up is a website that has no relation to the bank. We already have submitted such spam email to the bank and I don’t know what they will do about it. I am posting this just to give an idea that email marketing is still alive.
