Some forums will share Adsense revenue with you.

Though you should use caution when signing up to those forums as you can easily become a victim of click bombing, a practice where someone purposefully clicks on ads to try to mess up your account.

I have begun writing a few articles here and there, currently for my own sites. Hopefully this will serve as practice and I may be able to write and sell articles later on.

There are lots of good paying sites for writers, however, it is really hard to sell your articles on these sites. easiest ways to get writing jobs is by bidding on freelance sites such as upwork. In the beginning, writing jobs are hard to come on upwork, however, as you imporve your performance, you can win the bids. If you are looking for upfront payment from writing, you need to be exceptionally good at writing.
Most of the sites people have mentioned above are defunct now.

Interestingly, I have written for all of these sites.
I did not make any money on LIteracyBase, thus left the site
I was on Bubblews until it shut down.
I am still on hubpages, but I am not writing on hubpages any more.

Squidoo was acquired by Hubpages in 2015. iWriter is not a writing site, it is a site for freelance writer where you can write for clients. I have never tried virily.

Thank you for this topic because I am in search for places to earn by writing. However, it seems that earning by writing is not that easy because revenue sharing has gone down. I have joined 2 sites lately. The first one announced that it had stopped paying maybe due to lack of revenue. The second one had cut down to 50% the rate of payment. With that development, I am back to my main line of providing content to forums.
