    Can you tell me what is the difference between hard and soft research? And, how does this affect the writer's job?

    Hard research involves searching the most credible sites such as scholary journals and papers which are properly documented. And, soft research involves searching for opinions rather than well documented facts, such as you might find on less authoritative sites such as about.com and blogs.

    I would have to say that for my writing I use both hard and soft research. I like to use hard research for the more important jobs that I have taken on.

    When writing medical/health, legal and SEO related articles, I'm more likely to consult an authoritative, rather than persuasive source. For anything else such as relationship/dating, beauty, skin care articles, or almost anything else a secondary or persuasive authority (such as a popular blog or online wiki site) is usually acceptable. Just be sure to fact check before submitting your content to the buyer.

    Any wiki could be considered hard research as most times they are very well cited and documented. d Also, any blog or paper from a university professor would be hard research as it's based on scientific studies.

    As much as I like to read WiKi, it cannot be depended upon, as there can be lots of fake information on it as well. If I had to do hard research for anything, I would do it in a variety of ways. Online, seek out similar businesses, and go to libraries, to ensure the information is correct.

    I tend to do hard research on topics that I don't know a lot about. For example, medical and legal stuff. Other things I will do soft research on, if they are topics that I have experience in.

    in y own opinion, hard research deals on searching on highly authoritative sites of high page rank written by well experienced writers. sites such as wikipaedia. soft reasearch is just on sites of low page rank and less authoritative.

    I think hard research is all about the researcher/writer going deeper to do findings of what the client's need to be written about while soft research is all about taking some simple notes of the contents in question and penning some articles down with it. The difference is always clear.
