Anyone else get depressed looking at abandoned forums?

Five years ago, I had some favorite forums that I would always visit. Not having been to those sites in awhile, whenever I go back and see how they are now abandoned (but still up), I get depressed. I like to read over the discussions we created back then. I don't see the point in leaving these forums up now if no one is posting, but maybe someone is earning money off the forum.

Times change and people move on and this is the nature of life and the internet, especially when it comes to forums. Just think back on the good times you had there and be happy for that. You can always find new forums to visits and make new friends at other places.

Maybe the forum is still being kept open on a read only basis by the forum owner to generate money such as through Adsense or banner ad sales. That's one possibility. And, I don't think every person would consider an old forum to be sad.

If the forum content is still good and you learn something from it, then I don't see anything sad about that. So long as the forum is stills serving a purpose, that's all that matters.

I’m not really depressed but sad when I see a dead forum. I have been to a number of such forums that I think they are dead because the owner had neglected them. Until now, I am still checking on one such forum that has no activity for months already and that obviously the owner is not doing anything to revive his forum. It’s a technical forum about devices and I find it good for those who are seeking answers to technical problems. I wonder if it can still recover.
