    What if your admin just disappears?

    Has this ever happened where your admin just disappeared one day? This happened about a year ago on my forum, but only because my admin had suffered a bad fall and eye injury. Later on, she returned to the forum to explain the situation. It was very difficult running the forum without a qualified admin.

    You should get another admin who can be on your forum regularly and not wait for someone who will not show up. Though it looks like she had a valid excuse, you still needed a forum admin on site.

    If they leave suddenly and you can not get a hold of them, you will want to find someone to do the job for them. I realize that things happen but it is also hard to put a forum on hold.

    Take on their work load and give them some time to explain. If they do not come back then you could offer the job to someone else.

    You should not have to wait to get a new admin if your other one is not doing her job. Will you be on your site every day for admin duties? If not, then you need someone watching out for the site. Your original admin would understand.

    I had been to a forum about health. The going was okay until I noticed that there were spam posts. They are actually advertisements of sexual products. I would reply to that spam to give notice to the mod or admin that it is clearly a spam. The spam posts persisted for almost a month before they were removed. It turned out that the forum has only 1 official who acts as admin and mod at the same time. And the guy suddenly disappeared that’s why the spam was not handled properly.
