Don't post your real name or address online anywhere, especially Facebook as that place is a den of stalkers.

Assume that no conversation, even in PM is private as these areas can be accessed by site admin and even spiders who scrape personal contact info.

Don't add people from your Forum to your Facebook friend list as this puts them in contact with your real life and your real family/friends which could expose everyone to danger (assuming that person is dangerous).

Never under any circumstances give out any personal info. I am very leary to do this on any site that I visit.

That's especially true about not giving out Skype or email info as any of this can be used to scam you out of money or accounts.

I have been in forums for more than 3 years and sometimes I receive emails wanting friendship in the guise of inquiring about my country. Since I was a girl, I was already following the adage to not talking to strangers. In forums, it is silly to be talking with people you don’t really know. That’s why I never reply to personal emails coming from members of a forum that I go to. Inside the forum, I only respond when the message is about the forum, no personal topics.
