What are the fundamental differences between a coder and programmer?

Are there any real differences between the job of a coder and programmer? Obviously, both work with languages. But is there a specific reason for the various names or do both coder and programmer do the same job? And, what about a software developer? They design software, so that's a type of programmer, a sub-category. The software developer uses their knowledge of language for a specific output, a specific end-goal. Any other specific applications for coding/programming languages; any specific output, other than software that is considered the end-product?

Interesting subject and not so easy to answer, because depend how we looking at it and also depend if we talking about making software, web application or phone application. All are very similar, but if we going into small details, all can be little or very different. Short way said programmers are creating the logic, coders are translating that logic into actual code.
For example, coder could be person who write codes for one or all files needed for some project and programmer is person who putting it all together into work, testing it and telling the coder if there is more to be coded or to make some changes.
In many cases one person do all this things, programming and coding because it's easier to communicate with your own mind and work on your own idea to achieve your target. But when it comes to large projects it is almost impossible to do it all by one person. For example think about developing software like Windows! In this case, programmer can't do it by him self, but telling coders which part of software to code, while he (programmer) putting all this parts together into one, to get final working solution. So it means, on large projects there is big difference between them...

It's making more sense by the minute. What are the fundamental differences between a coder and programmer?

And, you have your own software? How did that come about, this software you created? And, you mentioned before about there being a difference between web applications and software, can you tell me more?

yes i have my own software and i was programmer and coder for this project because it's not so large in compare to microsoft office or so...
Difference between web applications and software is that software are created for your personal computer to work on your operating system (eg. Windows) while web applications are created as parts or whole projects for internet websites. These two also are made in different coding languages, while programmer's logic is same or very similar.

Your Smart Twitter Follow/Unfollow Bot looks pretty interesting in terms of functionality. What led to the creation of this bot? And, what makes it a 'smart bot'?

Since i am involved in social media marketing and specially on Twitter, i was always looking for best solutions to build large audience (followers) by real people, specially those in same or similar niche. So over the years of experience with that i found very good solution how to reach my goal and which way to do it. I shared my experience in public too. But after some time i decided to automate that complete process by making this software (Smart Twitter Follow/Unfollow Bot) as well as some other Twitter related softwares for marketing purposes. I called it SMART because i implemented my own, let's call it, algorithm which bot is using to find and follow real people with good reciprocal followings which is getting you more followers and building your real audience which will interact with your postings on Twitter and possibly turn into your regular visitors and customers...

Seems like a really good tool for the social media marketer. How long had you been coding or creating software, before you created this one? I'm only asking as this seems very complex, having intuitive intelligence or being a smart bot as you called it.

Well i am not using traditional coding any more to code whole software. I used "Ubot studio" which is software to make softwares What are the fundamental differences between a coder and programmer? Have built in many drag and drop options to speed up process of building applications and it's very useful tool. At the end, software looking very simple for users, but it's still large work behind the scenes to program it.

That sounds like an amazing software. What level of coding/programming expertise would a person need to use that? Or, what would you suggest for someone that wanted to create a simple program to try out the process?

I have seen some complete newbies using it without knowing any coding and since it's drag and drop software, i guess your imagination is limit What are the fundamental differences between a coder and programmer? You need more programming skills to plan what you want to achieve but it's easy to make some simple applications. However it's not cheap to buy so it maybe doesn't worth it to produce only simplest applications but it's awesome tool and i like playing with that and exploring new possibilities all the time.

The terms are often used in a way that makes you think that they both mean the same thing. However in reality they have different meanings. Basically a programmer is more concerned with the logic and problem solving aspect, whereas the coder focuses on the coding aspect. So basically the coder uses the logic of the programmer and translates it into the required code. Obviously since programming and coding work hand in hand, and they depend on one another, one can say that most programmers then end up doing the coding part of the job as well.

Yes and no What are the fundamental differences between a coder and programmer? I was involved in some projects as freelance coder to work for some programmers who don't even want to tell you what they programming because they want to keep their idea in secret before it's completed. For example i was hired to code some PHP files which should communicate with MySql database and i was told what results i have to pull out and how to display them in HTML. While some other coders were hired to do similar things for different operations on same project. Programmer who hired us all didn't know coding to make all project live and working but also protected his idea by hiring few different coders... So this is another scenario that could happen and divide programmers from coders, but yes, it's true that in other case it can be same person or same thing...

Oh my gosh it is all gobbly-de-gook to me. All programming and coding stuff is under a hectic techie heading for me. Things I don't understand now and never will. Very clever people that do hectic things.

I think both of them are pretty much the same. In case of programmer though this term is used more professional. And the coder could be the hobbyist and part time programmer. So the term is used in formal and informal way in this approach. I have found that coder and programmers can be used whenever people want to sound formal in some setting. So startup jobs usually make use of the coder as a position.

In my opinion they are basically the same and related. A coder implies to a person creating a platform using programming languages and applications while a programmer is more of a title which coding is required for a certain software or application. The only difference i could say is that a programmer may not be as a hands on than a coder. A programmer can be a position that is really more of a administrator and really just do monitoring work. While a coder do more of the editing and creative part.
