Can you be a webmaster without knowing how to code?

It is definitely possible being webmaster without knowing coding as there are lots of resources online and you can always hire developers. You can always use open source and paid softwares for your website. However, there are some disadvantages:

  • You will increase your costs as developers often charge a lot and there are not open source or paid software for every type of websites
  • You will need to hire someone to fix your website if you break something
  • You will have less flexibility with features

I don’t know how to code but I can still be a webmaster so you can too. However, knowing how to code is definitely a big advantage.

Knowing how to code is definitely a big advantage when being a webmaster Can you be a webmaster without knowing how to code?

I personally have no clue how to do anything more than some basic html but I'm still a webmaster and I have more than 20 websites up and running Can you be a webmaster without knowing how to code?

At first I thought all you could do was pay someone a few thousand dollars in order to get a website, boy was I wrong. I set up a crappy free designed website through the godaddy builder and absolutely hated it because it looked horrible and was super basic. It was more basic than some free blogs out there that are extremely ugly when started.

Fast forward a year to 2004 and I find wordpress. Finding wordpress was was an amazing thing because I can get a super professional looking website and not spend a few thousand dollars to do so. There are a few marketplaces that sell premium themes are coded by people who are extremely good at what they do. You can browse these themes based on price and/or niche. Even better is that the themes are normally less than $150 which is much less than hiring a programmer. The reason these are much cheaper is because they are selling to the masses through marketplaces and their own websites. This is nothing to worry about because you can add your own content and make the website unique. In the past I actually told a client to purchase a premium theme so that their website would be responsive since they wouldn't pay my designer and programmer to do the custom code for them. They said no because other people could buy the same theme and their website would be penalized because they had the same thing as someone else Can you be a webmaster without knowing how to code? So instead of purchasing a responsive theme from a marketplace they paid a bad designer they knew a few hundred bucks to mess up their website and then blamed me Can you be a webmaster without knowing how to code? I had nothing to do with it, but everyone wants to point a finger when something goes wrong lol.

So in short, yes you can be a webmaster even if you don't know how to code. Wordpress is an amazing thing because it's cheap and so diverse because of the themes and plugins you can use.

Thanks,

Razzy

Thanks to the improvements in open source site creation tools such as WordPress, you can be a webmaster of a great site without actually knowing how to code. WordPress is without doubt the easiest one out there, at least that is how I consider it as you can create a site really easily and quickly. And you do not have to pay anything either. There are also other similar options to WordPress but I think that it outranks them. Considering these tools, my answer to your question would thus be that your can be a webmaster nowadays without having a clue how to code.

I have about 8 websites and each of these websites receive between 200-500 visits every day. However, I don't know how to code. I believe you don't need to know coding to become a webmaster. However, if you know how to do coding, it definitely helps. If you use WordPress, you can create a wonderful website without doing any coding. There are plugins that help you make the website the way you want.

Maybe you need to know at least HTML if you are a webmaster. But from what I understand, a webmaster is the manager of a website so he handles the monitoring and maintenance of the site. When there is a bug in the design then he could call the web designer to fix the problem. When there is a problem in the access then he could call the hosting provider to resolve the issue. It looks easy and you can do the job without knowledge of coding but knowing how to code will be an advantage.
