Google will begin massive migrations of their blogs?

I have heard that Google will begin a massive migration of their blogs, from blogspot.com to googleblog.com. It will be simply a 301 redirect from previous address to the new domain.

What you think about this change?

I personally would like the name to be changed to googleblog.com even though blogspot.com is loved by many. But 301 Redirects usually transfer somewhere between 90% to 99% of the SEO authority (rankings, pages indexed, search signals) from the original URL to the new URL, so I don't think that will be much of a problem.

I guess that it is just going to be a type of redirection, and the main intention seems to be to get the Google name in this. Some people seem to be commenting upon how good it sounds, or not, but I feel that is past the whole issue. Basically I don't think that there will be any harm done with this change. It would be an issue if it were to have some negative impact on the traffic volumes.

Okay, I agree that it is just a simple migration that will be needing a redirect. But my question is why change the name from Blogspot into Googleblog, is it to carry the name Google? From what I remember, Google bought Blogger sometime in 2006 or 2007 and it remained like that for more than 10 years now. By the way, Blogger is the operation and Blogspot is the depository for the output blog. Again, if the intention is just to change the name, I think that is very petty for such an activity that will require migration.
