Do you have an adwords account already?  The adwords tool is a free tool for anyone that has an adwords account, which is free to create as well.  So just setup an account and click Tools->Keyword Tool to get to it.  From there you can put in your keywords and it will show you a lot of statistical information on each such as how many searches per month locally or globally that keyword gets.  It will also suggest other keywords that you might want to look at that are related to yours.  It also shows how much competition Google computes there is for each keyword, although this is not always completely accurate.  This should get you started the tool is pretty easy to use and once you make a few searches you'll get the hang of it quickly.

It's a good free alternative of Market Samurai when you are really looking for a tool that could help you with keyword investigation. It\s really important to check those keywords before writing an article or making a website because they will help you understand your competitors and keywords! ;)

Google Adword is for advertisers. However, you can use Google Adword tool or Google Keyword Planner Tool whether you are a publisher or advertiser. Advertisers will use this tool to find the keywords to target in the ad campaigns, and the publishers will use those keywords to do inbound marketing and pull traffic to their sites so that there will be engagements with the ads on their websites.
