Static website vs Blog. Which one get maximum traffic?

Now people are integrating their sites with a blog to drive targeted traffic. Is it a good idea? Means if I am promoting a weight loss product and have a static site based on the product. Than should I merge a weight loss blog with the static site to get maximum sales.
What do you recommend guys? Just want to know your traffic building opinions.
Thanks

I think it's a good idea. If you added a regularly updated blog, it may help to bring in more traffic. Especially if you used terms people trying to lose weight were searching for.

A blog is like a diary which is presumably updated regularly otherwise it is not a blog anymore. A static website is something that doesn’t change contents, no updates just like an image. A static website is also static when it comes to hits because there is no reason for readers to go back. With a blog, particularly for the interesting blogs, readers would surely go back for more in the assumption that there will be a new article to read when they come back.
