    How many links we should build for a new site in starting months?

    Hi,
    I always ask seo related basic questions to support the newbies. Your answers will help new internet marketers to grow up. I have seen that by building too many backlinks to a new site spoil it's reputation and can't help in Good ranking. So my question is how to deal with link building for a new site in first several months so that the new site will get maximum benefit in the future.

    You should never go after the number. Do not concentrate on numbers, instead focus on quality. Quantity may never give you better results, however, quality will always give you a good result. Therefore, instead of generating 50 plus backlinks for your site, focus on getting 8-10 backlinks from quality site. Dot edu domain are more powerful than any other domain, therefore, try to get backlink fro dot edu domain.

    Like @Vinaya, I will also go for the quality of the backlinks that we make. Take for example 2 blogs. The first one, blog A has 1,000 regular readers while blog B has 5,000 regular readers. It is obvious that blog B is a better place to post a comment because of the more chances you get for readers to see your comment. In forums, the more popular ones are the better choices to post. By the way, you can also post in social media because it is called social signal but also considered a backlink.

    The best backlinking practice is organic backlinking. In other words, if your content is given backlink by another website voluntarily, that is the backlink search engines turst more. When you are building massive backlinks, you will be generating backlinks from low quality sites. Perhaps, you might also be doing automated backlinks and using bots to build backlinks. This is Black Hat Tactics. You have to build backlinks manually, when you are doing manuallt, you might not be able to build too many backlinks.
