What is the difference between On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO? Why are they on completely different sides of the fence? Are these both crucially needed for the success of an SEO campaign? Which one is a more well-rounded and powerful SEO strategy to buildup?

Simply put, anything you're doing on your website is 'on page SEO' whether adding good quality content, keyword research, optimizing your tags or load time. Anything you're doing off site including backlinking, guest post outreach etc is off page SEO. Both form a solid team for ranking.
