foundation links: how do they help my site?

Hi guys,

I have this brand new site that I don't know what to do with. It's a review site and carries a few posts (11). It seems to be going nowhere. I mean, I'm getting those blinking impressions but no clicks. Impressions are great, but they aren't doing much good to my site. Last time I checked, my site's overall position was 90! That's page 9. who the heck reads page 9 of Google?

Then, a good friend of mine told about foundation links. He feels I should fork over some 50 dollars over to some freelancer here for these foundation links.

I know nothing about ranking a review site, and absolutely nothing about foundation links. I've tried browsing around, but I'm not sure i'm any better than i was at the start.

Question: What the heck are foundation links? Are they like backlinks? Do they matter or am i just about to flush my $75 down the toilet? I'm lost, please help!

Hi Simmons, foundation links are basically the starting links that you would naturally start getting from a wide range of sources. This is usually like when you start adding your site to online directories, creating a Google My Business page, commenting on blogs and forums, adding Gumtree/Craigslist type ads, people naturally linking to your website, etc.

This is just to get the ball rolling before you jump onto heavy link building such as PBNs, Guest posts and larger quantity blog comments, etc. as you can land a penalty from Google fairly easily if you start off building too many links at a time.

I would recommend looking for someone who can assist with creating online business directory listings and small scale blog comments (niche relevant) to you your main pages. Give it a few weeks, then start building more and better quality links. You can never go wrong with Guest posts and PBNs after you have done the foundation links.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try answer them as best as I can.

Cheers,
SEO-SA

Thank you a ton SEOSA1 for your detailed answer. You're one of the kindest souls I have met online; I really appreciate that you spent your precious time to help out a faceless stranger.

Your response is informative.

I've learned quite a bit from it.

Someone said to get foundation links from this website (seocheckout) but I wasn't sure it was good advice.

You know, mine is a new review site and I walk in daily fear of Google penalties. I don't want to do the wrong thing.

I've published quite a few blog comments and even answered a couple questions on Quora. I even published an article on a site that allows pretty much everyone to publish content there for free in exchange for a backlink. I'm not sure this is a good idea and won't publish my content there anymore.

I've done that (what I've described above) over the last one week or so, and I've noted an uptick in some ranking metrics in Google Console.

I'll take your advice. I'll continue blog and forum commenting. I'll also consider creating directory listings as you've advised. By the way, how much money are we looking at here? I mean, for directory listing creation? My budget is rather small, but then I must do what needs to be done to get the damn site off the ground.

One more thing.

I have about three sites (run by good friends of mine) lined up for when i'll be ready to start guest posting.

I haven't thought of PBNs though as I've always felt that's a strategy for technical people who know exactly what they're doing. And I'm terrible when it comes to things that need technical expertise.

Again, thanks for your time and kindness.

Hello Kaledrayne, I thought your response would be about the question i'd be asked. But it isn't, and that is ok. I don't understand your question. What do you mean by "review my website?"

I understand. But I don't review other people's sites. Instead, I review products on Amazon. Hope you understand.

I have a question here now. I've build around 28 guest posts white hat by outreaching and used natural anchors in each.
it is first 20 days of my site and I have not done any other link building. Also it is an Amazon niche site.

i know it's been a terrible mistake but what can be done now to get out of such situation?

your advices are highly appreciated.
thanks.
