How long does it take to get a response from PayPal support?

I have an issue with my PayPal account not successfully completing a transfer transaction. I keep getting a notification of transaction unsuccessful, contact support which I have done and it's been over 24 hours without getting any response from the support team.

What could be the cause of this problem and how long does it take to get a response from PayPal support?

Every time I have contacted PayPal support I recall seeing a message that said they'd reply within 24 hours. It's odd that they haven't, but I have to be honest and say their customer service isn't the best. I've often had them reply and not properly answer the question I asked, so then I had to re-contact them - and then they go ahead and take another 24 hours. It can be pretty frustrating dealing with them at times.

I'd recommend just re-sending your email and hoping that someone else gets hold of it who will reply faster.

Thank you for your advice. I haven't tried contacting them yet as I don't have problems with my account. Anyway, I'll put that in my mind. It may be of use in the future.

Yea you should and you complaint will be resolved in 24 hours when you channel it to the appropriate individual.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ElectorAlexande
Yea they take exactly 24hours to attend to my complaint on their site and it quite annoying because I need them urgently.

That's another frustrating thing. They say "within 24 hours" when you lodge a request and it feels like they take up every last second of that time. I'll often get a reply right as it hits the full 24 hour period since I contacted them.

They're a convenient company for many reasons, but if you have an issue/concern it can be a pain to try and deal with their customer service reps. At least in the experiences I've had, anyway.

I had an issue recently and they took care of it within the 24 hours they had promised actually by the 15th hour they had sorted out my problem and I could not be happier.

it's disappointing that Paypal is one of the most used payment processors but they have a poor customer support. I have a bad experience before transferring my PayPal money into my local bank account. I have been doing this many times but the last time I transfer was unsuccessful. I've been charged for about $6 for the unsuccessful transfer.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Wow, I never actually knew they charged for unsuccessful transfers. I have no idea how that side of things works but it seems pretty unfair for them to charge for something that didn’t go through anyway!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
Yeah, that's the sad truth. But maybe for selected countries only. I'm from the Philippines and when I transfer my Paypal money to my local bank account and if the transaction didn't pass through I get to charge for a fee.

I have also have a problem with Paypal before because of a failed transaction. I have emailed their support team through the app and through their given email address. Good thing that they have replied the next day to my inquiry. Most likely, they will send you an automated message at first but after a few days, you will then receive an answer for your inquiry. Try to put an eye catching title so that they would open your email first.

Yea that's true, they are very good at resolving issues if contacted, I have had similar issues with them and it ended well only that it took time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
It always makes me anxious when they're slow to reply - especially when it relates to significant amounts of money. Those kinds of situations are where I would like a pretty immediate reply, so if I had a failed transaction I would probably try and call them instead of emailing just so I could chat to someone right away and put my mind at ease.

The only time I ever had an isssue with Paypal, I rang them and they sorted things fairly fast. I do hope you get a response. It is frustrating when money gets stuck in cyberspace for one reason or another.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
That's good to know that calling them may be a better solution. It's certainly much easier to get a more immediate response by calling someone rather than waiting for them to email back!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ElectorAlexande
Yea thats true but I just hope you don't experience similar difficulties I experienced calling them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I rang them once and regretted it because they didn't pick and also I was charged for international call, I just emailed them and waited patiently.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Do they not have helpdesk numbers in each country? That’s pretty disappointing if that’s the case. For a company that strives to be the leader in global payments its a bummer that you had to make an international call to try and sort something out.

I actually haven't tried contacting PayPal support because so far they haven't caused problems yet to my account and money. So, I hope nothing happens in the future.

The main times I've had to contact them is after eBay sales where they sometimes put a 21 day hold on accessing your funds until your buyer receives their items. The hold doesn't always get automatically released even if your buyer has left you positive feedback. It's frustrating, especially when they are really slow to respond.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ElectorAlexande
Yea thats true, it happens a lot but you have to contact them to release it.

I hope and pray you don't have to contact them ever.

I only have one comment when it comes to PayPal and that is they've got poor customer support. I mean being the biggest payment processor, PayPal should have 24/7 real-time chat support.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ElectorAlexande
Yea thats the only problem I have with them, they need to upgrade their server to include more customers service attendant because they receive more emails and they waste time to response.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
PayPal should have 24/7 real-time chat support.

This is my favorite way of dealing with businesses. It's so much more reassuring to be able to reach someone immediately, and calling someone on the phone and having to wait in a queue is a pain. Chat support is the way of the future I think, and I notice more and more businesses incorporating it. Hope PayPal joins that trend too.

I think they also need to improve their coverage in different countries to include Nigeria because I know what am suffering right now because PayPal don't operate fully in Nigeria.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Yes I actually found out only recently that PayPal wasn’t as global as I thought it was. I didn’t realize that some countries were restricted from payments through PayPal. Did they provide any reason why you can’t use it in Nigeria?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
I read something about it on quora a while back. Though Paypal doesn't provide a reason there are theorists who believe that Nigerian-based scammers made Paypal a little uneasy . . .

You've probably seen a few of those emails:

"I'm prince so and so . . . I've got "oil money" I could share with you but I'll need $$$ to get the money", etc.

If scammers received payment through Paypal and they (Paypal) couldn't get the money back, there would be some backlash. Those people who lost their money thusly would not use Paypal again. Theirs is a pre-emptive measure that is supposed to help them limit such possible ugly scenarios.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Ah, that makes sense. I’ve received those kinds of emails before and they usually try to request money via Western Union...I think since it’s virtually untraceable once the cash is picked up by the recipient. Would definitely look bad on PayPal if those scammers started using them for payments, but it sucks for those average people who want to use it for legitimate purposes.

I think you should try contacting them using different approach, I experienced similar issues but after sending multiple emails to them I was given a response in 24 hours.

I have a similar issues before at PayPal wherein I withdraw my online earnings at my paymaya card and the next day PayPal notified me that the transaction was not successfully approved due to some problems at my paymaya card. It was the only issues that I encountered and so far PayPal respond on me after a few days. I think you just need to wait for some time or just recontacted PayPal for the second time around.

The bset thing to do is spam your concern to them or change your e-wallet.

Sometimes I think that they have such crummy customer service because they know they have such a huge slice of the market. Some companies improve their service when they get big, other companies rest on their laurels and assume that everyone is still going to use them whether their customer service is good or poor. Rather disappointing!

I'm in the USA so my experience may be different. But for me, PayPal responds within 48 hours and usually resolves my problem promptly.

But I really think that being the biggest payment processor PayPal should atleast have a 24/7 real-time chat support.

You'd be better off just calling them on the phone, and talking with them directly. I learned that years ago. Their email replies take some time to come through. If it's an emergency, just google the number and call them.

So far I don't have any problem with PayPal. I am satisfied with them. If you think PayPal doesn't convinient anymore you can use Payoneer or Script.

How do you find the customer service of Payoneer or Script? I'm interested in exploring other payment options!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Payoneer customer support comes in email or chat form. It should be listed on their official website.

I have heard of Payoneer before, but script? That is new to me. I might check it out and see if it's better than PayPal.

From my knowledge it takes around 48 hours to get anything serious reply. In some case they get the reply and then they can get some quick response depending on the requirement. In some cases it can be good enough for the support reasons. Some card and bank specific support is lot easier. But people don't want to use it that way. So you may want to check out the support section and see depending on the emergency of the query.

I never tried contacting Paypal since I have not experienced any issue but as far as I know, you should receive a response within 24 hours. And if you don't receive any response, you need to do a follow-up. I am thankful that I don't have to contact them but please give up some update on your case.

They usually response within 1 hour to 12 hours, it depends on the time in your country that you are in.

I think it also depend in what day you send it, if it's a busy day then the response might take long.

Well, I had contacted the Paypal customer care a few days back in regard to updating some features in my Paypal account and I received a reply to my query after two days. I didn't mind the delay because my issue did not require an urgent solution. I guess in case of financial transactions they might be responding urgently. After answering the mail one of there executives also contacted me on phone and enquired whether I require any further assistance.

My problem with Paypal was I cannot access my account. I tried changing passwords but they always say that they can't confirm it's me. I contacted support a few days ago and I waited for 30 minutes to allow them to contact me. After anxiously waiting for them, we talked and they told me to contact another support who is in charge of my problem. They just forwarded me to another person. We haven't talked but I hope they fix my problem soon.

I think paypal gets a bit suspicious when you can't remember your password and are always creating news ones. It happens, but you should also write your password for paypal down somewhere so you can have it on file more often when you do forget.

What we were given here is a loss of communications. One easy phone call from Paypal could deal with most issues rather than looking to navigate levels of complicated interactions online where there are such a lot of frustrating ranges of security and so forth. Paypal must know by now that simply one simple phone call receives to the lowest of a problem better than something else.

It can take a while if you do it from your paypal account. I recommend that you engage them on social media. They are most active on Facebook. Just direct message them about your account and you will get a response in no time. I think that this way of communicating with paypal is much faster. You can also try and call them. This is more direct and you will get your issue resolved immediately.

I haven't tried contacting them yet because I don't have any concers regarding their service.
I have learned from a youtuber that paypal takes really long time to respond. If you have concerns just keep on sending messages so thhat they'll notice.

Your response may take between 2 and 14 business days. It is better to contact them again because in many opportunities they take a long time. PayPal does not have a good customer service, really. In my experience, they would answer only when I sent them multiple emails.

Hi there!
Usually my Paypal support responds within 5 hours to me. Ironically, I expected it to take days, so I didn't check my email.
Some people claim Paypal rarely responds often, but I personally never experienced any problems with the support they have. They're really great at their job. I remember exchanging 10 messages within a day with the support.

What I like about Paypal, they response within 24 hours which is good. I experience something in paypal about deducted money from spotify and just found out that I wasn't able to unsubscribed the account my brother. They able to manage the problem so I just let the deduction of my money since it also benefits my brother.

I get a response from them in less than 3 days actually. I'm from the Philippines. I don't know if country factors into this but I believe so. People from the US are quicker to reply to based on the previous comments here.

Via email? 24 to 48 hours but I doubt they'll reply. The only option you have for a quick response from them is if you call them. Sadly that's the only way. Maybe they're thinking about customer safety and confidentiality that's why they prefer you call them rather than other means.
