Are you saving for Christmas?

Most of the times, families around this place start to save up some funds as early as September as they plan on how they are going to have a blissful and fun filled Christmas celebration.

I have been saving up a bit of my salary for this festive period, what of you?

I don't save money to prepare for Christmas however I always make time to buy gifts as early as November so I wouldn't have any hassle during Christmas season. I really love Christmas so much but I don't give that much emphasise to the food we eat during Christmas gathering. I think what's important is not the kind of food on the plate but the spirit of sharing, giving and the family gathering that makes it even more special.

Hahahahaha, thats true. During Christmas month of December the prices of Fashion kits increases drastically so the best month to purchase items is November but they are already getting use to the trend now.

Yes. People are getting used to shopping early these days as christmas sales continues to trick us. The best time to buy item's or gifts is during Black Friday. You get the best deal out of everything.

Getting your shopping done before the Christmas rush is smart. I do a lot of my shopping online for that very reason, so I can avoid the crazy crowds during the lead up to Christmas at my local shopping mall.

I definitely agree with you. I am the type of shopper who wants to go shopping at the earliest time, I don't like rush shopping. It is better to plan and buy all the things that you need before the Christmas day so you can save more time and avoid the stress of waiting in the long line.

Right? Where I live, if you leave your Christmas shopping until the last minute it's absolute pandemonium at the stores. It's virtually impossible to find somewhere to park, and all the shops are just so crowded. As someone who hates crowds, that's my idea of a nightmare. I like being able to shop at a leisurely pace, rather than feeling rushed - so being organized is really important.

I agree with you, it is the bond you have in your family, as long as your family os there your Christmas is very wonderful.

Definitely true. The reason why Christmas is merry and one of the most awaited seasons is because of the gathering of our dear ones. Although gifts still excites me though. ????

I usually buy when there is a Christmas sale so I can save a lot of money.

It is also the spirit of Christmas that matters to us more than the food that we share during gatherings and more than the gifts that we give and we receive. I always have a long list of gifts to buy so like you I prepare early to avoid the so called Christmas rush in the shopping mall because it will eat up a lot of time when it is already nearing Christmas when malls are very crowded with shoppers.

I’ve been trying to! I have a little nest egg built up for Christmas gifts so it’s not a big financial burden at the end of the year. We have a few people to purchase something for, so I like when I have enough money and don’t have to use credit cards!

Thats a great idea you pull up, Christmas is a season of love where you show people companion and share things, nice plan.

It’s the best way to budget! Slow and steady small amounts quickly add up over the course of a year!

I do save for Christmas because it is one of the most celebrated festival in my country Nigeria and it's best if you be on your best attire because it is a day of show off and love.

Yes I do really save some money from my salary and offline work for Christmas because it is a great time for us and one of the most exciting celebration in the entire year. We give much value and importance from it because it is the birth of our beloved Jesus Christ. I have now some few savings and I need to have more so that I can buy things such as food and other important items for this coming Christmas.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you and its time for present and sharing food. We should spoil ourselves just for this day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes that is right and we must enjoy this celebration up to the fullest since this is only once in a year. I am sure this would be a great way to enjoy the year and make a bonding moments to our family and relatives as well.

I normally buy Christmas gifts VERY early and keep them in storage. That way I don't have to panic as the year winds down. For people who I don't know what they want, I just give them cash inside a really nifty Christmas card.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Cash is always a good gift - especially for adults! I know that I don’t really need a ton of new possessions, but with cash I could put it towards a special experience or weekend trip somewhere!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

allyn2017
Yes, but i feel like it is not right like I think it is better if you are the one who bought the gift because it makes it more special.

I feel you, but there are times I wait for the Christmas sales so I can save.

I always save money for the Christmas season. This is once in a year that is why I always make sure that we will be able to prepare all the food that we want. I want to serve the best for relatives and friends. I also buy new decorations for our house and aside from these, I have to buy gifts for my godchildren. Christmas season is kinda expensive for me and saving money for this season is a must.

I agree with you, it is like Christmas season is for the time where you spoil yourself.

I'm also saving up for our Noche Buena. I would like to make a graham cake for my family. It is a special dinner and being with your family with a lots of food is something to save up for.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are right. What I save for Christmas is not just only for family and friends but also to reward myself. I shop for myself as a gift although I receive gifts from my family, it is still different when you know that you can buy things for yourself.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think it’s great to reward yourself. Being able to buy myself something I want is always a good incentive for me to work harder. It makes all your effort seem worthwhile when you’re able to get yourself a nice present too!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
I can relate to you. I also buy something for myself as a reward. When I was working in a BPO company, I used to be so stressful and working at night was really hard. So, I made sure to give myself a treat when it was payday. But now that I am working from home, I don't really have that high income that is why I can only buy simple things for myself. But I am still okay with this since my happiness does not really depend on material things.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I always reward myself during Christmas. It's good to think of others, but sometimes, people tend to forget themselves. It's not bad to even think of gifting yourself once a year. You deserve it and you worked hard for it.

No, I'm not saving for Christmas. There's no need to anymore as all of my children are fully grown and they've outgrown the need for waking up early on Christmas day to open all the presents. Those were fun days and I have many memories. Now my kids just want a holiday meal, to visit with each other a little while, and then relax.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
When you’re grown I think one of the best gifts ever is a home cooked meal, so I can totally understand how your children who are grown would love that! Being able to share a meal together is one of the best things about the festive season.

Yes, even me I am doing the same thing, because Christmas here in my country is so special, that there are a lot of celebrations happening before Christmas, that's why I also need to save some money so that I have something to buy as a gift to my loved ones.

I am now starting to save money for Christmas. It may be late but I hope I could cope up with it. It may take me to work harder as I have to save money to be able to give gifts to the special people in my life. It would be special because I know that I worked hard to earn the money that I will used to give them a gift.

I’m actually saving a degree of money all the time. It’s important to keep a savings account for emergencies and other necessities, so I always take a certain percentage of my income each month and add it to savings.

These savings are actually what I dip into when Christmas time rolls around. I have a huge family so I never really end up buying expensive gifts anyway, because I’d go bankrupt. I also don’t want to buy one person something really expensive, and get the others some cheap junk, as it doesn’t seem fair.

I just dip into my savings to buy a bunch of moderately priced things, and that’s the extent of my Christmas shopping/saving.

Well actually I am not a Christian and we don't celebrate Christmas at my home. However, I love to celebrate Christmas with my friends. I always am looking forward to the Christmas cakes, fudges, and caramels which I am able to taste during Christmas time, visiting my friends and their families. In India, we celebrate Diwali or the festival of lights and I do save for celebrating Diwali every year.

Saving for Christmas is one of the thing that I am prioritizing for now since I want to celebrate Christmas with full of joy and happiness since it is only once in a year. I want to give thanks to god for all the blessing that he had given to me and my family.

There is one Christmas that I didn't celebrate. This was after working and using the earnings to do other things, with expectations of more cash. But, the client vanished after I delivered the work.

Since then, saving to celebrate Christmas is a priority. The experience was terrible because I did not celebrate. I spent the entire day indoors.

Yes I am saving for Christmas. I do so because I desire to give gifts to people closest to my heart. I also save because me and my church family usually visits the orphanage and give a Christmas celebration to the children.
The true essence of Christmas is giving - God gave His Son and by His grace, we too may share the same spirit of giving even in simple ways.

I agree with and I am also doing that way, I am giving some gifts to children during Christmas since I feel happy whenever I see that they are happy and satisfied. The true essence of Christmas is really giving and that what makes Christmas valuable in our hearts. I am giving some money during Christmas to some children who comes to our house since it has been a tradition for me to do that every Christmas.

Yes, i am also saving for Christmas and I'm using some of my earnings from my freelance jobs. This is actually the first time that I am saving to buy gifts for Christmas because it's also a first for me to have enough funds to save up and share some as I was really broke in the past years. Hopefully, I would be able to give useful and premium looking gifts to my family this year because I really want them to be happy on Christmas.

Christmas is coming and when we talked about holiday season, all of us have planned on what to do. First we already start thinking what to give to our loves ones that would be memorable and at the same very useful to them. As for my self, what I am saving for this holidays season or Christmas, I am saving money to some gifts to my family and to my special someone. Who wouldn't give gift during Christmas. It is already a tradition to us to give gifts. Aside from buying gifts I also save money for travel. I want to spend my Christmas holiday somewhere for leisure and also to get away from stress and to enjoy life.

It is always special when Christmas season is coming because we tend to gather around and bond as a family. I think this is the power of Christmas. Giving love and giving thanks to god to having good life and good health despite of the struggles and problem that we have faced along way.

I have already saved and I am still saving for Christmas. To celebrate Christmas, one must have some cash to travel and purchase whatever he or she wants during the celebrations.

All my earnings are from my freelance jobs. The earnings will enable me to celebrate and put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate. That's how I always celebrate my Christmas.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's fantastic that you've managed to put away enough from freelancing to cover Christmas expenses. I'm thinking that for next Christmas I'm going to try and do that too. It certainly lessens the stress on the household budget. I may open a separate account with my bank to dedicate just to Christmas savings, so that I don't get tempted to touch it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is exactly what I did. My savings go to my bank account, while the amount that I want to spend comes via my mobile wallet. Basically, I do separate the two when making PayPal withdrawals.

The Christmas season is the longest period of festivities here. Our tradition is rife with gatherings, gifts and good food. It is foolish not to have money for those festivities for you may be saddled with debts afterwards. What we do is save early so we will have enough budget for spending. Our culture taught us the Christmas is a time for giving and generosity means expenses.

@allyn2017 wow, Christmas starts very early there. For Americans we usually start putting up the tree in late November after Thanksgiving, and then the preparations for Christmas really begin. It can be difficult sometimes because it seems like we have Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas all in a blur.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Here in my country I feel like a lot of people end up getting into a lot of credit card debt over the holidays. Often these days there is a trend to try and look like you're wealthy and successful even if you're not, so people buy expensive gifts for themselves and for others without really having the money to cover it. Society is weird like that. I'd rather not go into a ton of debt rather than try and impress others.

I also save some goods like canned foods and old but usable clothes, toys and books. I and my small group of friends would usually adopt a small community where we can share these goods during the Christmas season. We also contribute some amount and prepare a sumptuous meal for the recipients to eat after a Christmas program.

I am saving for Christmas have not started but I plan to start saving this week. I save so that I can treat me and my family. I buy presents when I see them right through the year, so I don’t have to spend time buying presents. I save money to go out to restaurants and to malls and other entertaining joints. I also work extra so that I don’t need to work during the holidays and have money to survive in January.

I often don't save money for Christmas preferring instead to buy Christmas gifts all through the year. While yes it is possible to miss out on great deals the closer we get to Christmas, I think by buying most of the gifts early, in case of emergencies later in the year, I wouldn't need to spend money I don't have.

That said, it is a good idea to save money for late December and early January because for many freelancers this happens to be the "famine period."

Yes, saving for Christmas is a priority in our household. We celebrate Christmas with relatives and close friends, and with the amount of people coming over, can you imagine how much it would cost to throw a party with that many people? Also, Christmas is a time we forget our diet and eat to our heart's content while we all reminisce of the good times we've had together.

Yes i save money through the whole year to spend some amount for christmas. I dont like to buy stuffs without saving for it because there isna tendency that you might overspend. And not because i had save money i will buy expensive stuffs. I go to bazaar to buy something nice but cheaper than the mall price. Its practical this way.
