Google Plus is Closing. This Time It's Not a Rumor.

Google Plus is Closing. This Time It's Not a Rumor.

So I found two reports from reliable sources which both say users need to say their Good-byes to the Google Plus social network. I was a G-Plusser before it became official. I was invited to participate in the test and when the network became live, my account was already active. I was active on the G+ network since the beginning. I created several business pages. I was there long enough for administrators to decide that business pages should be called brand accounts. I participated in the G+ Communities. I created several Collections. For me, my experience with Google Plus has not been a bumpy ride. It has been quite pleasant and I have no complaints. But if the Top Dogs of Google decided it's got to be scrapped, then I have no other choice but to move on. It was a good experiment. It won't be the first product or service Google ever scrapped.

Some of the headlines say that the users are “mourning”. Will I miss Google Plus?

Uuumm … not really. I'm on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, etc. and some small social networks, forums, and blogging communities. It's not like I can't fill the void.

What about you? Will you miss Google Plus?  Will you mourn? Google Plus is Closing. This Time It

I guess that Google Plus never reached it's real goal and i am not surprized if it gets closed. Well, goal... G+ was created as social network and i never see people socializing on Google Plus. After all it was filling G+ databaze with data they already have by their spiders / crawlers. Most of that sharing on G+ was automated shares by bots, scripts, plugins etc... So there is no real need for it. From beginning it was bad idea beside so many popular social networks, and if it's really closing, then i am ok to say GOOD BYE G+, cold as ice cube...

I will also say goodbye to google plus when it is closing. I hope google will do something new that will draw many people. It has to be captivating.

For me It's less the experience than awful, more than it isn't comprehended. That is the thing that the significant breakdown I see is the thing that activities on Google+ have what effect. Why utilize Google+ notwithstanding like what else I am doing? I don't know. The thing Google+ is absent for me, is the reasonable comprehension of when do you things like this current, here's the outcome. There is definitely not an unmistakable and justifiable reference chart of what highlights create what results or perceivability, what do circles truly improve the situation to you, how would you control perceivability, and so on.

What do you think is the main reason why Google Plus did not succeed in reaching its goal of going astride with Facebook? My take is its pretense that it is not a direct competition of Facebook because it was like a street fight that one protagonist was obviously showing cowardice against the bigger guy. If Google Plus had revealed its hidden agenda that it is an alternative to Facebook then it might have given Facebook a run for its money.

Well I have also been a Google + user for the past many years .I had a very good experience with Google+ , no complains whatsoever. In fact Google has always been a brand I trusted and do continue to trust inspite of the recent reports of huge amount of dataleaks of many of Google + users. There is some concern although about what kind of data was leaked and has every detail regarding this honestly come out. Nevertheless, I still trust Google and
hope that it takes all the remedial measures to prevent such things happening in future.I will not miss Google + much because I am more active on other platforms like Instagram and Facebook

I will not really mourn. I also have a google plus account. I still have other social media sites if it will be gone.

I won't really miss Google plus since I don't really use this platform even if I have this. I think it is more helpful to those who have a business since its features can help you rank your business online. I prefer to use other platforms like Instagram and Facebook since it is more easy and convenient to use.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
I've made use of it especially when I was checking out some features of the site, but the thing is that some illegal activities that some used the site for made me not to go close to it again. This is the same challenge that some social media sites are having as well with the rising rate of scammers on such sites.

I remember when I joined google plus a couple of years ago when I was still in high school. Unfortunately it did not give me much of a satisfaction as a social platform so my activity there was limited.

Same is true with me. I will not really miss google plus. I still have other social media platforms to use.

Yeah you are right. There are so many social media applications that might be more interested than google plus out there. It is up to us if we want to use and subscribes to others.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's funny how Google Plus was so different compared to Google's other platforms. Its performance wasn't even near as good as their famous creations. It could be because it didn't have much usefulness from the very beginning.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I think so also. If google plus is useful then why do they end the service of this application. I think only few subscribers love this application. Having only few users are not considered that this application will be run for long.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, that's true. In a way, it felt somewhat redundant given that there are other more useful services than Google plus. You also notice that it's not that fun to use. Being interesting is a big factor when it comes to Google's products.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
What actually happens on that platform? This is one social site which rarely crosses my mind when I think of connecting to my friends. There are numerous other better sites which can give one and better benefits.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
I have to agree, it's a flop and after using it for a month and saw that it wasn't good and it doesn't really have any use because of its nonexistent user base, I just left and never came back. It's nice they've finally closed down shop.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's so sad to read that. You're very honest for sharing your disappointment in Google Plus. I can also relate since I stopped using it a few days after I joined. It really was a letdown. Well, at least, now they can focus on better applications.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. I guess it's one of those platforms that just didn't click as much with its users. You're right. Businesses seem to benefit the most from it. Though, there are much more effective platforms than Google Plus.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Other active social media sites have been working actively and I think that users of Google Plus are not going to miss it that much. It is not a great news that they are closing down, but at the same time, there is nothing to do on this kind of situation as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Right! Good thing is that I am not an active user of google plus or else, my life will change. But if this happens to Facebook and Instagram, there will be a big problem. It will not just affect the ordinary people but also those who are well known. Imagine those celebrities who have a fan page or always post photos on Instagram. These platforms are their way to connect to their fans.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I can see how active users may feel about it closing down. Others seem to have had success with their businesses using it. Google Plus became more of an additional means of sharing information. But it's not like we can't use Google for that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Quite a lot of social chat sites you have got yourself hooked there onto. I am only available on three platforms; twitter, linkedin and google plus. However I was not that active on google plus so unfortunately I will not miss it that much.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I remember when Twitter was still new. It felt so fresh and full of possibilities. Now I only see a lot of heavy politics and non-sense. How it changed from a lighthearted site to something of a business model.

Anyway, Google Plus just didn't stand out from the bunch. I'm sure they already have something better in mind. They're just clearing the ground for new releases.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is correct. the declaration on Google's blog today was that Google+ will close down throughout the following ten months, by next August. That is the 'purchaser' adaptation, which underpins 'free' accounts. The 'corporate' adaptation, or, in other words Gsuite, and is in this way limited to use inside a similar area, will remain, and conceivable grow further as a corporate device.

I never use google plus even before. I have no idea how it works. I think one reason that it came to end is because only few people using that application. I think they did not market it very well. Google is one of the best browser ever and they contributed so many applications that we used or we still using in our everyday lives.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
They did market it well. There was a time wherein before you can post a comment on a YouTube video it forces you to sign-up first for the service. I guess people just didn't see the value in it, the layout was lousy, and users never got interested in general.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I think that is one of the main reason why this application has come to an end. If one application is not working well and the service is poor it means that people would lose their interest to keep it. There are many applications there but only few has a gut to stay.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure about this, but I think Google launched it when Facebook was such a favorite and innovating ideas here and there. They merely can't cope and compete.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah when facebook was and is still favorite by many but google plus became lousy and only few people got interest to subscribed to it. What is the sense of letting the application run if only people are happy to its service. It is all about business at all.

I think you are right. I only know a few people who use google plus. I am not familiar with the other functions of this platform too. But I believe that to those who want to save their google plus data before the network closes, the process can be done through google takeout. They just need to log in to their google account.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah only few people knew google plus and I am one of them. I am not familiar with the service and its function. No wonder only few people know about it and some are not interested to have it.

I have been with Google+ for a few years, and I must say that I enjoyed it. However, it didn't go to the extent that I would "mourn" because of its end. I have other social media accounts that I'm more active on, and the end of Google+ doesn't end Google as a whole.

Google is huge and has been doing its best to stay relevant and I believe that it will keep on getting better in the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. There's a lot of services and products that we can use from Google. Losing one won't harm Google as a whole. They might be upto something bigger than Google plus. That is why it is better to have different account in various platforms so that even though a site closed, you can still continue gathering traffic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Well I do not think that anyone would really have a huge loss due to the closure of the site. It has been dormant for most of those who have accounts in it and this in a part has contributed to its inactivity and closure.

Good decision for Google. Google plus was a joke. Google is the largest search engine in the world yet it was never able to make Google plus popular. I find that fact so interesting. I tried using Google plus for marketing however I never had any luck. I don't think that many people were on Google plus. The first mistake they made was the interface. It was horrible and not as user friendly as Facebook, Instagram e.t.c. Good riddance to bad rubbish as far as I'm concerned.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anwebservices
Exactly as you said. They had such interface probably to stay different from other social media networks and sharing websites. But all in all, even when i was most active by sharing my links on Google Plus, i never noticed any serious traffic from that platform and to be honest it was waste of time for being active there. Not sure even if other bloggers spotted some solid number of visitors from G+ but i never had luck with it. So goodbye Google Plus...

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I've got an account in google+ but I'm not active using that platform so I'm not really affected for its closing. Well that's unfortunate for those who use google+ in communicating with their friends and for those who have used it for business.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. It's kind of weird that we tried the service only to forget about it. And now we're hearing this news. It's like one of those products we try but didn't quite like. We left it alone until its time was up. This could be the expiration date for Google Plus.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I'm surprised that it's closing. But it makes sense. I've never really used it that much. I mostly just tried it and moved on. So hearing this news isn't a big deal for me. I'm sure they have valid reasons for stopping this service. They may create something better in the near future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Same here. I never tried using it even before. I have no idea how it works also. It is good decision by google company to finally end its service because maybe they found out that only few people appreciate the google plus.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I guess Google plus failed to reach their goals to have a long lasting website. They might have cut their budget for this platform. I don't have an acoount with this but my cousin does and as he explained how it helped it, I was really amazed. He's now into social media platforms since he realized that he can gather a lot more traffic from those site. They might be closing this site to open a new and better one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I'll never miss it. I do have an account, but I am not active on the platform and may have just opened it once. All I have in there are my name and email address and nothing more. With the plethora of social media platforms we currently have, I don't see the point of adding another one.

What they did was try to copy what Facebook is offering at the time forcing users to even sign-up before they can make a YouTube comment. I guess it's just not meant to last. Bye Google+.

I was not aware about this news. G+ tried to compete with facebook and Google Hangouts with Facebook Messenger. Sadly, Google could not outsmart Facebook. I have been a member of G+ since 2012. In the beginning I was very active, however, later became inactive because it was not possible to remain active on every social media sites where I had account. I was already active on so many social media sites that I was not even visiting G+. Recently, I had started building G+ accounts for my website and if G+ shuts down my work will go astray. However, I don't think I will miss G+

I have an account, but rarely think about it, whereas I constantly check Facebook. It haa always amazed me the service has lasted as long as it has. I always meant to use it more. Other social networks are waaier because more people I know or connect with use them. I had not heard this news, but it does not surprise me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is true. Many people is a facebook users and they really enjoying it. I prefer facebook over google plus because google plus has limited things to do and aside from that it is also not well known by many.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Just now Facebook certainly seems to have the Monopoly. It ousted MySpace and I suppose the main thing about it is so many use it. Mostly, one asks, not "can I have our phone number," but "are you on Facebook." I never heard anyone want to exchange google plus details. I think they were short sighted in how they promoted themselves and lost out.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah things really different now. I do understand you completely. People will no longer ask your number like we used to do instead they are asking your facebook account more than your number. I honestly think that people nowadays especially the so called millennials think that it was the old fashion, what is in now is asking your facebook account.

What is the latest on this news is Google Plus really gone for good? Does anyone know the reason why the site was shut down? From the last time that I know, Google Plus was pale in comparison with Facebook if that is the objective of Google Plus although there was a hint but no clear indication that it is considering to be a social media network. Maybe it was not earning well and Google decided to close it instead of operating at a loss.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

cmoneyspinner
Frankly I think Google is happy to be rid of the network. However from what I heard there was a data security breach and I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Rather than try to fix that mess, since they were probably thinking about closing down the social media network ~ rumors were floating around for a long time ~ after that data breach they figured "Forget about it! Just shut it down!"

I don't know this because I'm not an Insider. But from what I understand it's going to be phased out over a period of about 10 months. That's for the consumer side or the individuals with accounts. From what I understand they are going to keep it up and running for the business side. I read that but I don't know what it means. My G+ account was personal. That's all I know and I don't know much.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Right I heard about it, I guess more people are not not really interested or let say never heard it yet or doesn't know the difference of G+ to google. I admit I see some using this but really I don't use this at all. Possible the purpose of G+ was not totally promoted to all on how they can use it or benefit it just like how successful the other social medias are.

I am not a Google plus user ever since because I am using Facebook since I find it more interesting and convenient for me. I think that is why google plus would now be closing since it does not achieve its its target which is to have more subscriber and user for that particular flatform. I know that some people enjoy it while others didn't even notice it but then that is one of the reality that if a certain site is not anymore worth it to have then it might really shutdown in anyway.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I wouldn't miss it a bit. Google Plus was ill conceived in the first place. Google copied Facebook only the designers made it so complicated and unappealing that people after testing it, began trooping to Facebook. I say it's time that Google pulled the plug on Google Plus.

It’s never been a social media platform that I was ever active on. I use a lot of other google programs and services - particularly google docs - and if they got rid of that it would be awful! For Google plus though I’m not really fussed either way.

Honestly, I have never been tried to use my G+ account even once. I don't know, it maybe because the people who I usually get to talk to has also never been tried to use that social media network. Also, I have never been tried to use it to any business purposes. If it is true that Google will take it down for some reasons then so be it. But I think they will introduce another one in exchange of G+ which is much better... I guess.

Well, it looks like Google can't compete with Facebook after all. Facebook has a stranglehold on the social networking niche and its a miracle that Twitter is still hanging tough. I'm also a Google Plus user but to be honest, I haven't opened my account in years. Although it's an OK social networking platform, it doesn't offer something different from Facebook. It doesn't offer something better than Facebook. Whenever I was logged in to Google Plus, I felt like I was in a ghost town with no real users. RIP G+. I won't miss you though.

There is a possibility of Google not getting it's expectedly results from the Google plus extension which led to them taking the decision to pull the plug on the social site.

Let me ask you a friendly question. How many people do know to be making use of Google plus extension frequently?

I'm not so sure if I would miss Google plus so much because I'm not that much into using it. I think since this year, I have used it not more than 5 times.

Just like yahoo messenger was scrapped, now it's time for Google plus to move on. People are definitely going to miss it but they will get used to it not being around anymore.

I haven't yet heard of the new social nework but I do wonder if it will fare any better than Google plus.

As for Gplus closing, I'm not going to miss it at all because though I had an account on the site, I never was that active and didn't have that many connections there. It doesn't come as a surprise though. They are in business to make money after all and if a venture isn't as profitable as they suppose it should be . . . . . . .

I once had a Google Plus account and I remember being confused about how to use it and had a very hard time figuring out what to do about it so I decided just to ignore and leave it as it is. And so my answer would be 'no', I won't be missing Google Plus. However, it's still sad that such a platform and idea be scrapped without even reaching it's real goal. I actually liked the idea of Google Plus after I figured out how to use it from a YouTube video I randomly watched but still didn't give much importance and time to it because I preferred other social media sites like Facebook and Instagram.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Quite frankly, I think it's a bit overkill. Google is a tech giant and they have their hands in so many lines of business. They didn't really need to compete with Facebook. Google would still make a lot of money with their other products.

Facebook’s time is coming to an end too. The active Facebook members’ numbers are decreasing. Facebook will eventually be the next Myspace. The security breaching of millions users’ profiles on Facebook also took a toll. And with Google+ it was just a bad marketing move, I think. Facebook was the pioneer in this sphere and there was simply no demand for basically a duplicate platform like Google+ at the moment. Maybe one day, soon, there will be a demand, but not when Google+ started. Don’t get me wrong, Google does it greatly in many different areas but maybe social media was not one of them?

I also had several business pages or brand accounts.
