Everyone loves a good story. True.

I've noticed on a number of sites bloggers are advised to tell their audience stories. These stories allegedly will be the means you'll use to to grab and retain the reader's attention.

The effectivenes of this strategy is debatable.

The last thing someone who is in a hurry wants to read is a story when you should be providing them with answers they are seeking. While yes, you could tell anecdotes if they will help motivate the reader assuming that's what they are looking for (motivation,) every other time your primary objective should be to provide only the information you think your audience wants.

Sometime, when you run out of ideas, it's not bad idea to write some personal story from your past experience. TO be honest, effectiveness of such post depend on topic you writing about or depend on profile of your audience. It can be very interesting and go even viral, but it also can turn low interest too. it all depend...
But smart people would probably read and learn from your experience, mistakes and success in order to build their success with less failures.

Personal content also gives the readers and visitors a certain level of deeper connection with the writer. For me as a reader or follower, knowing a little something about the writer is quiet special. He is making his self a little more vulnerable but courageous enough to expose a little something about his personal side.

I would have to agree with you. Personal content basically gives the visitors and the readers a deeper connection with the writer. Knowing some little information of the writer will give a meaningful and more worthy foundation of trust.

Me too. It's a special thing to get know someone better through their personal stories. But it can be difficult to write one yourself. You wouldn't want to overshare stuff to the point of readers feeling awkward.

After all, they're still strangers to you. What you want to do is to express sincere feelings of what you've gone through. Details should be minimal but expressive. Less is more when it comes to sharing.

I agree with you, if you are a blogger that connects with your audience it is not bad to write about your personal experience. But, for me you should keep it minimal and don't get too deep. Keep your secrets and weakness to yourself, because someone might use it against you.

It is a fact that a writer would run out of things to write one time or another and writing your own stories would be a good diversion. When I was blogging my usual article was about my own experience on the niche. It is easy to write about your experience and also a good outlet for expressing what’s on your mind. But the best thing on writing about your is that you are assured of the facts.

I think, telling stories in your blog posts are necessary. This strategy will help remove the gap between the author and the readers and will provide them the sense of being engaged. On the other hand, I also agree that a lengthy post is time consuming and will somehow lose the interest of the readers. I suggest to apply the inverted pyramid style used in news article writing by providing the most important down to the least ones. In this way, readers who are just skimming will have a gist of the main idea.

Today I have another story to tell from the Bible. God commanded prophet Jonah to preach against the wickedness of the city of Nineveh. Instead of obeying God, he went to Tarshish to escape God. But then God sent a storm and in the end Jonah was swallowed by the big fish. He was there for three days.

After he was vomited by the big fish, he obeyed the command of the Lord for him. He preached to Nineveh that they should repent or else they will be destroyed. In short all the people repented. God did not send the calamity because they changed their lives.

He gave seeds to all of them. He told them to come back after a year of planting. Then the year ended and all those that were given the seeds are told to report. There was just one person whose tree pot was empty because the seed did not grow for a year. He was chosen to be the next king be cause the seed that was given was lifeless.

The Israelites were given an instruction by God on how to destroy the wall of Jericho. They were to march around the wall city 7 times on the 7th day. During the six days they will not shout but be silent, but on the 7th day they will blow their trumpets and shout. The wall came tumbling down after they make loud noise.

Jericho wall speaks about our great problems in life, When we just believe and obey God'd voice I believe that all our problems can be solved by God.

If a lot of readers are asking for stories, then I think you should give it to them. If you include stories in your blog, you give another flavor to your content. You will make reading fun to them. But you also need to select the stories that majority of your readers want to read. Or the stories might be inspirational, fun, or anything that will attract readers.

I think that depends on the blog niche. For some niche you should not tell stories. For example if you have tech blog that shows how to click button X. Then your approach should be instruction to click button X. And not some story of how you found the button X why you like button X and what to do now. That would be stretching things so far. It's not needed and it should be avoided in that case.

I believe it's a smart decision. But as always, the execution will tell what it becomes. You'd have to do it well if you're going to attempt it. It can easily turn people off your content if you don't write it good enough. So consider your experience and writing skills.

Telling a story is very different from writing a blog post. Your story should not only be interesting, it must also resonate with your target readers. Putting the right content in the spotlight will give your readers something to root for.

Vulnerability is priceless. But it ought to be written in the best way possible.

You are very correct my friend with that assertion on sharing one's life story and experience is solely dependent on the writer. He or she is the only who can decide if his or her story is worth sharing with other people especially in an online community.

Some personal information about one's life are better kept a secret because you can never be sure of who is reading and where such information are being moved to. Caution is very important with sharing one's life experience.

In my opinion, it depends on the topic you are writing about. If it is just a matter of question, answer and a little explanation, you have to provide it in a straight forward way. But if your topic is about something you can talk about with cooperating some experiences you have in order to discuss it further, you can add it up to your blog. There are some people who want adequate answers. What i could suggest is to put the answer on the first paragraph and add the rest after that paragraph. So that the reader won't have to read everything just to know the answer, only if he is in a hurry.

It is depend on the situation. On the off chance that a considerable measure of perusers are requesting stories at that point I figure you should offer it to them. In the event that you incorporate stories you can give another flavor to your work. You will make perusing enjoyable to them Be that as it may,you additionally need to choose the narratives that lion's share of your perusers need to peruse. Or on the other hand the accounts may be fun as long you love whay you're doing.

There are several types of bloggers in this world. Some peoples do blogging commercially and some peoples do blogging occasionally. On an occasional blog- you can tell any story to your audience. If your audience love the story they will reply. If your audience does not love the story they will say you they are not liking or they will not show any reply. Blogging is a matter of fact- you must need to do the keyword research and keyword based article will generate huge traffic for you for the life time.

For me, it’s going to depend on the type of blog I’m reading.

If I’m reading a blog on spiritual growth or something of a similar topic, then I don’t mind someone including a story. In fact, the main reason I’m probably reading the blog is because I want the person’s own story and their perspective on their path to growth and wisdom.

On the other hand, if I’m on a cooking blog looking for a recipe, I don’t want a story about how you’d wake up in the morning to the smell of your grandmother baking sugar cookies; I just want the darn sugar cookie recipe.

There are types of blog that really needs good story telling like travel blogs, spiritual blogs, blogs about life etc. Readers of these kind of blogs are looking for stories that they can use as a reference in making decisions on whatever circumstances that they have to face. There are also kind of blogs that the readers only need information on a certain topic or product that they are interested in. I would say stories in blogs are quite essential depending on what type of blogs that the reader is looking for.

It may be just me, but I tend to think stories would do better on a vlogging platform such as Youtube. Personal stories are a huge success on Youtube. However, when typed out I am not so sure if you will be able to retain the audience's interest as a lot of people may not want to read but would rather watch. At least that is how it is for me.

I actually tend to enjoy stories of others, it helps to get to know the other person on a more "personal" level.

Telling stories at our own blog could be inspiring to others especially if it is all about somebody's success and achievement. I think many people would be enjoying it and keep coming back at your blog. We ,must just see to it that our stories are interesting and really up to date as to the current happenings or issue that the world is facing.

Well if its really necessary you should, but if people are not asking for it simultaneously don't do so, because a lot of people can see it from the internet and also you don't know what are the people intentions, just to have privacy I suggest not to do so.

Telling relevant stories is a good way of building respect and authority. It's a good way of letting your readers know more about you. And doing it would open you to interact with your readers through their comments.

For me, I won't tell my stories on a blog post if it's not necessary, because I don't know all the people who are reading my article, and also sharing your information on the internet is not really a good idea because it's dangerous and also to keep your privacy safe and secure, I suggest not to do so.

Any story told should be related to the blog. Infact the story should enhance the topic. You cannot tell the story of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST when the subject is about cryptocurrency. How does that story enhance digital currency?

People love stories. I think its the new norm today. If you're selling a product, it's very important to pre-sell. And one of the best ways of preselling is by telling a story. By sharing your experience, people can relate to you much more and could become more attached to you.

It adds a more personal element to the written article. Review articles especially work well with personal stories because it adds a lot more credibility to the review. By the way, do you have a blog? I would love to read some of your articles. Should You Tell Stories In Your Blog Post?

I think that telling stories from our blogs are not bad as long it complements with the reader's interest. I think it is good at some point since readers will be entertained and be amazed at some time. We should just make the stories related to what we are trying to convey with readers so that it will become interesting and not boring to have.

I think sometimes they need to tell some stories so that audience will believe a certain situation that they have never thought before. For them to convince that it also happens to many folks about the article you wrote. It depends on the writer how will she or he will be able to manage her or his writings.

I have done this several times and I am going to confess that it's very effective especially if you know how to express yourself with your experience that you have a very good lesson your life experience would teach your readers.

Some people actually have good life experiences that they can tell others but they lack the skill and ability to pen it down in such a way that it's going to be read and have meaning to those reading it.

Yeah! A writer must be also open and share his experiences to his audience. As what others said, it includes emotions and events happened also to writers so I guess it's really necessary sometimes to include stories in your content or article.

As a reader, I would love to read stories from a blogger, as long as it is in-line with the article that he/she presents. People love to dig deeper so the connection would be more effective. I am a person who gets easily drawn to a written work especially if it is close to the writer's heart. Don't get me wrong, I'm not nosy, however, you can actually feel if the writer is sincere or otherwise whether stories are incorporated or not.

If it helps his/her content, then, I have no problems with it.

It depends on the kind of blog if you can tell stories or not. If your blog is about medicines then the information about the subject should come first if you have an anecdote to tell. Some readers appreciate anecdotes because that is the experience of the writer which can add not only information but also encouragement. For a blog about non critical matters like my niche that is about pets then I guess stories are always welcome.

I have seen quiet a lot of anecdotes spreading everywhere in different social media sites. Most of them are very inspiring and comes from different stories. Honestly, I enjoy reading anecdotes which are also inspiring and motivating. I like it when it is about someone's hardship to reach his success. And personally, I don't mind whether the writer writes a story for his/her blog as long as it has relevance to reality and that will inspire and motivate its readers.

I believe it depends up on the theme or the core concept of your blog. If your blog is a personal blog, then writing personal stories will definitely help you to gain audience. But if it's a blog about information and stuff that doesn't need to be written in a narrative form or a story form, then writing stories may be a bit unhelpful (but stories that are related to the blog might help tho, especially if your readers want variety.).

If you have a very good story that is worth writing about, I don't see anything wrong with expressing it in your articles on blogs or forums. In as much as it's personal life stories but if it has something valuable to teach your readers, it's definitely worth writing and publishing in blogs or forums.

A blog can be whatever you want it to be. But you also have to take consideration on the reader's part. They subscribed to your blog for "tech" for example. They wouldn't want to read about your personal experience handling a dog for the first time on their feed now would they? You have to make it as though it's still related to the blog and not just a random story of your life.

Definitely yes, this can help to the reader to know you better. Everyone has a story that they can tell and offer them to the reader. Just relies upon marshaling up the capacity to let it know. What I began to do is record numerous occasions that occurred in my life and analyzing them to perceive how and where I can fuse them into a story. That absolutely encourages me.

It depends on the story you are about to tell. For me, it is important that, that story connects with the topic in your blog. Like for example: Your success story as a blogger, how did you start, what made you decide to be a blogger and etc.

I think that personal stories are fine as long as they go with the blog post. Obviously, if your blog post is about baking, you are not going to want to tell a story about your dog. I mean, that would just be weird. If the story fits and is interesting, then, by all means, do it. This makes the blog more interesting and makes you seem like a real person, rather than just someone who is online writing.

Yes, I don't see any reason why not? Writing from your personal experience is also effective because you get to put some personal touch to your writing. You can be able to connect more because you know what you are saying and you are knowledgeable about the subject.

I think it always depends on the skill and the talent of the writer. A talented writer is able to include stories and personal experiences in such a way that his readers find it inspirational and interesting. Otherwise the stories can become very boring and fail to retain the interest of the readers.

It also depends on the subject or the content of the blog. Some blogs are created keeping in mind a target audience. In such blogs there is little scope of telling stories or personal experiences. I think all that matters is the quality of content you provide. If it is good then it is definitely going to succeed.
