YouTube Strategies: 8 Ways to Make Money Online

It's no secret that YouTube is one of the biggest platforms in the world to publish your videos and get seen by the masses. It's actually a platform that has made people successful, like Justin Bieber, and they've had extremely profitable careers simply by posting a few YouTube videos of themselves doing something they loved. Now, you may not be the next Justin, but that doesn't mean you can't cash in on YouTubes traffic!

There are plenty of ways to make money online, but there are 8 main ways to do it through YouTube, and that's what I'll be covering within this discussion. Your level of experience doesn't matter, you just need to read how to do something, then implement it as well as you can. No one got rich because they just did something without doing research prior, they did everything possible and then started their strategies.

Below are the 8 main ways you can make money by using the immense amount of YouTube traffic, and they are:

Sell your own products
If you have something for sale online, whether you make it yourself or have it produced, you can definitely use YouTube to sell it. You can record tutorials on how to use your product or you can simply talk about the niche you're in and get people to your videos. If you're linking within the description just right, you'll get traffic for as long as the video is on YouTube.

Linking to your dropshipping website
Don't have any products of your own? Not A Problem! You can simply look up drop shippers and set up a website that sells their inventory and you'll just take a commission from it. I personally like using AliDropship to set up a dropshipping website and selling products that way. I can list a bunch of products on my website, because they don't limit you like other drop shipping setups do, and I'll then advertise my website through a YouTube video by linking it in the description.

Use affiliate links
When you go this route, you shouldn't use your affiliate link right on your YouTube video, you should set up an affiliate website and link to that domain and let people click through. This will make you look more legitimate and people won't see a ref= link.

Catch the interest of a channel sponsor
If you start gaining credibility within your industry through YouTube video production, you might start to get people or companies contacting you about a sort of sponsorship. Now, you'll likely have to be producing a lot of videos in order to get any sort of sponsorship, and this is because you'll be talking about your sponsors after every video you post. You'll also be linking to their website within your descriptions, but they'll definitely want to see a lot of videos being posted so they can get more views on their logos as well as their links.

Go offline and get some public speaking gigs
You can actually use YouTube to catch the attention of venues who need public speakers. I've actually been approached a few times about public speaking gigs, but I didn't have the time to fly across the country to attend, and I really wish I set my work aside to go to these public speaking events because I now know I can close a lot of new customers simply by talking with them face to face

Enable Adsense on your videos
With this method, you need to actually have an Adsense account and then link it to your YouTube channel. Just like a website, Adsense will display ads on your videos that are related to your niche/industry, and you will make a small amount of money per click. You might not get rich with this method, but you might be able to build a large enough following that you can make a full-time income pretty easily.

Become a YouTube partner
After you've shown YouTube you're a legitimate producer of high quality videos and you've gotten plenty of views over the last 30 days, you will likely be able to join the YouTube partner program. Once you get into this program, you'll be able to generate revenue simply by getting your videos viewed, which is how a lot of these big influencers are making even more money online

Think outside the box a little bit
No matter what people say is the best strategy to make money on YouTube, there is always something out there that is going to be cutting edge, so you should always think outside the box a little bit in order to bring in even more money that hasn't been tapped into.

Making money through YouTube videos isn't something that is difficult to do, making a lot of money through them is, and that's what everyone is trying to do. No one wants to make $15 a month from posting 100 videos a month. They want to publish 100 videos and make an extra $10,000 a month which will help them make more videos and even more money. Vlogging on YouTube is really good idea to make money. I am thinking about it all the time and yet didn't started it

Yeah i have my channel but with few personal videos and few trials and demos... However, if you want to make some really good videos, it takes time to edit, cut, paste, add text or logo, etc...

in the other hand i seen some very popular videos made very simple. They record it without any editing and publish. Yet become popular in short period of time, even hours. Specially game players, which is so strange to me that these videos get millions of views in very few days, but it works for them and i bet they making solid amount of money even without that intention, they just play games for fun.

Since i don't have much time to play with that yet, lately i try to get more exposure, links and traffic with comments on different videos from specific niches, so i will see how it goes

The channels you're referring to, where they just play video games for fun, they're known as Let's Play channels. I've been experimenting with trying out such a channel myself, and let me tell you, it's not as easy as it sounds.

It used to be way easier back around 2012 when the genre was just starting up, but at this point that field is just absurdly over-saturated. The standards were very low back then, but these days people expect only the best. We're talking green screened facecam, top notch audio quality, only the latest games, and of course you have to be genuinely funny. And even if you have all of that, it takes a lot of luck before you get noticed.

Thankfully I have most of the equipment, but honestly, I've been playing video games since I was a kid, and I would consider myself a fairly funny person, but doing both at the same time as way harder than it seems. I personally give those dudes way more credit than I initially did.

I dabbled in the whole video game channel thing, but it definitely is a lot of work like you said it was, and I decided to get back to what I already knew and make money that way

I still post videos here and there on YouTube, but only when I stream and it gets converted into a 2 hour video without me having to do anything lol

My editing skills aren't great, so I don't go back and try to make them all fancy like big YouTubers currently are, but they're still there and optimized, and getting some views each and every day

thank you so much for writing this article. I have encountered videos also about this. How to make money online. Even my brother told us that in their place in Iowa this is the hobby of most of their friends. They make videos. Submit it to google.

People are making money when their videos have thousands or even millions of likes and followers. How I wish I could do this also. So that I could have a lot of finances.

They say that it is now easier to edit a video because Youtube has an editor for the user. Featured in the news on tv last night was the video personality who is seeming to be an internet star soon. He wears fancy clothes like a model and sometimes like an actress but he is a guy. His videos are short and novelty so people are appreciating it. He is now earning about $3,000 in a month and still growing.

This is one of the main ways that a lot of YouTubers have been keeping themselves afloat these days. As we know, things are just beginning to bounce back from the Ad-pocalypse, but a lot of YouTuber's are still struggling due to YouTube changing their community guidelines. Once thriving channels are now being demonetized regularly due to supposedly "advertiser unfriendly" content. If it weren't for sponsorships, these channels would have to be shut down. And I'm not talking about the little guys either, as this has happened to big channels like H3H3 and even PewDiePie, the literal biggest channel on YouTube.

This can give you an idea of just how significant getting a sponsorship can be.

Yeah, sponsorships are huge on YouTube now, so large that now influencers need to say if they've been paid for a promotion or not. I'm not sure if a gamer or any big YouTuber has to say if they are being sponsored by a company or not, because I don't really see any of them saying something along those lines, but they definitely are getting paid for using certain hardware, wearing certain clothes, drinking certain drinks, etc.

Did i misunderstand or you think that "YouTube changing their community guidelines" are trying to posses power over advertising / sponsorships and keep most revenues for them selves and let vloggers have only smallest chunks of it?

Yes, with all due respect, I think you did misunderstand me.

I don't think that YouTube is intentionally changing guidelines in order to control the flow of revenue. The issue is that advertisers began pulling away from YouTube due to the fact that their brands were being associated with some questionable content. For example, Pepsi didn't want their advertisements being played on videos which promoted terrorism (this is actually what triggered the whole movement).

So as a result, YouTube began changing their community guidelines in order to appeal to advertisers. Now, while you can still post on YouTube as you normally would, your odds of being monetized are significantly lower if you talk about controversial material or you post content that YouTube deems is only appropriate for mature audiences.

It's not about YouTube keeping revenue for themselves, but about appealing to advertisers so YouTube and its content creators receive any revenue to being with. When the initial pull occurred, YouTube lost several hundreds of millions of dollars, and they had to do something to prevent such losses in the future.

I have always made the mistake of using my affiliate link directly in my YouTube video and it seems to give a poor impression on the product I'm trying to advertise in the YouTube video. But now with what you just mentioned on how to use affiliate link in setting up an affiliate website and link to that domain and let people click through as that would make you look more legitimate and make people appreciate it more.

Try using a bit.ly link or a link on your own website that is just a redirect through your affiliate link. A lot of people do that and make a killing through affiliate marketing

I'm not sure of the policies in place by YouTube and how they take affiliate links or affiliate marketing, so you'll want to do a bit of research to understand fully how that might work and if you're breaking any of their policies before you try it. You never want to put your accounts at risk, so play it safe when it comes to affiliate marketing, and do all your research before placing a single link

It takes time and promotions to build your followers and subscribers. It's not an overnight type of success when it comes to this type of marketing, but it's definitely possible to gain an additional 10,000 subscribers a month if you just make great looking videos and do the right targeting with your promoted videos

Remember, YouTube is owned by Google and they love to generate money through advertising, so target the right people and you will likely bring in a bunch of subscribers. Also, the more subscribers you have, the more notifications that are going out with each of you new videos, and the more traffic and likes you'll be getting on autopilot

Thanks for the beautiful techniques of You Tube. Up to some days ago You tube was allowing my country about you tube and ad sense program. But now they are giving us a condition by the 4000 hours. If my all videos pass 4000 hours combindly views- than I will be able to add ad sense with you tube videos. Recently I had lost this opportunity. Now I have been trying to add 4000 hours with all of my videos.

You don't need 4,000 hours on every single video you publish, just an accumulated total of hours on your channel (all of your videos combined), in order to get accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. You can put Adsense on your ads right away as long as you have an account and activate it within your settings, no requirements need to be met before you can start generating revenue from your videos, just a basic understanding of what you're doing

I like your what you've said about sponsorship. I know of a guy that started a YouTube channel 4 years ago and now he's got some sponsors. Every Month, he's been doing raffles of smartphones, tablets and lately laptops made possible by several tech companies he's been promoting online.

Yeah I heard about sponsorship. I know some vlogger in youtube who made a reviews to some product that his sponsor. Sponsorship is good as long as may company or products trusting you. Credibility and trust should be maintained to be successful on youtube.

To be able to earn money in youtube, you should really put a lot of effort for you to have viewers. One of the vlogger said that you have to consistently post videos. I'm wondering what the income difference is of someone in the Partner Program vs someone who just has Adsense. Does anyone have any idea of the numbers? Anyway, another way to make money on YouTube or with blogs, forums, for that matter is simply asking for donations. How would you compare that method to the others?

I like that idea of linking to drop shipping sites. There are so many drop shippers among my friends in social media and I can imagine that I can do that linking to earn by commission basis. However, it is easier said than done because I need a website to do that. Besides, I also need to negotiate with the drop shippers for my commission. Perhaps I can earn decent money if I go full time on that scheme.
