How your friends and family could save your business

Your friends and family can actually help save your business if you're down in the dumps with sales.  Your friends and family members can actually help you bring in traffic, sales, build trust with strangers, brand your website or business, and many more things if you simply ask them to help you.  The power of your friends and family is an amazing thing to utilize, especially if they're helping you with something they are already familiar with.

It doesn't matter if you're a brick and mortar type business of 100% digital offering something like web design and marketing, your friends and family can help you out immensely.  Think about it, if you were looking for something and came across a post on Facebook saying your friend, aunt, uncle, cousin, ex-girlfriends, etc. had used this one company and loved them, you'd probably check them out for yourself.  Well, this is what your family and friends can do for you, but they will do it a little differently than just commenting and referring people to your business when they see the right situation arise.

If you post on social media asking for people to help you out, don't think that everyone will jump on board, you will likely only get a few to help you out since not everyone will see your post.  In fact, you'll probably only get around 1% of the people viewing your post to actually help you out.  People are so worried about their social media profiles and online image that they don't want to share links to your website or business, even if you're a family member asking them for some help.  It's actually a bit insane that direct family members won't help out, but the people who do help out should be treated like angels swooping down to help you out with your struggles How your friends and family could save your business

To utilize your family and friends, in a way that doesn't abuse your relationships with them, you can ask and receive various things, such as:

They can share their expertise with you
If you're stuck in an area of your business, and you know uncle John or your friend from High School is already doing this successfully, you can simply shoot them a message on Facebook or text them if you have their number and troubleshoot your problem.  Since they are your friend or family member, they won't see this a burden, as long as you're not asking them how do do something every step of the way lol.  Of course, you'll need to do proper research online before you reach out to anyone, but if you can't figure it out that way you can always approach your friends and family members with experience and say "I've searched everyone online for answers to my problem, but I can't seem to figure this out, could you help me please?" and usually they will help you out if they aren't currently busy with their own work.

Even if they are busy, they might do a bit of research to figure out what was wrong and link you to where you can learn how to fix it on your own How your friends and family could save your business

They can be your social media team
This method works, as long as a decent amount of people see your ad, and they don't have a stick up their butts about what gets posted on their social media profiles lol.  All you have to do is post "Hey Everyone!  Can you please share my website with your friends so I can get seen a bit more?" then link your website and hopefully people will copy/paste your URL or just share your posts entirely.  Either way, you're going to get some exposure from the people who are humble and don't mind helping out others.

The only downside about this is that not many people will see your post, so you'll likely have to do duplicate posts over the course of a day so a decent amount of people see it.  Think about it, people browse Facebook in the morning, on their lunch breaks, and when they get home and have already eaten dinner.  If they're not 16, they will likely be on Facebook much less, so you'll have to post multiple times in order to get seen by the masses.

You can give them affiliate commissions
If you're looking for some help, and not really getting any from good samaritans, you can always offer a little bit of money for anyone that sends a person who buys from you.  This is a pretty basic affiliate system, but you're asking people who aren't aware of how it works technically, so you'll need to walk them through it.

Usually all you have to do is register on a website or for the affiliate system, and you're good to go.  If it's more difficult than that, you'll need to have a "how to" sort of system that walks people through how they can register for your affiliate system and start sharing your links.

After they're registered, you will need to keep it as simple as possible, such as "Share this link on your social media profiles and get a commission for anyone that purchases" then have the link directly under the sentence so people know exactly what they should be sharing.  You can get fancy and use banners, but you'll have a more difficult time posting these to social media profiles since a lot of them don't allow HTML in the posts.

They can refer the the companies they work for
One time I posted that I would give commissions to anyone who shared their affiliate links and one of my cousins actually got their company to sign up with me, and my cousin got a commission for it How your friends and family could save your business  It wasn't an insane amount, but my cousin was getting an extra $225 a month from me for as long as their company had kept paying me (which was around 6 months).

Since they work for the company, they usually know who are the key decision makers, and they can get your name and business in front of the person who would be paying you.  This helps you easily get past the gate keepers, the secretaries, and right in front of the person in charge of the check book lol How your friends and family could save your business

In conclusion
Not only will you be increasing your sales from asking for some help from your family members and friends, you will be getting some branding along the way How your friends and family could save your business  Your friends and family members can actually take you from a struggling business to making $15,000+ a month in a short amount of time.  Of course, you'll need to be smart with your profits so you don't have to ask everyone for help later on, so only buy what you need and invest the rest into advertising and branding to boost your sales even more How your friends and family could save your business

All good points. I have one friend who is managing and maintaining several Facebook groups. In these groups, I am finding that lots of like-minded friends are willing to return the favour. In other words, if I do one or more of those things you mentioned above for them, they will do the same for me. It does help!! It helps because they are real people with real family and friends who really do listen to them if they recommend or share something that came from you.

I think am going to try this out, have been reluctant about it, though they have agreed to put it out and work it out for me too, one of my friend will help with the official launching of my blog today without pay.

After the success of it that's when the pay start counting for both my family and friends, the idea is a fair one you get to have a serious minded employees who strives for their betterment and yours too.

These are really good points. Your family and relatives are good for your business. You can use them to help spread your business or your products. Posting things in social media or by them helping to share it to their friends would be a very great help.

As the saying goes, love begets love. If you do a good deed on other people then they might reciprocate the good act you did. But relying on friends and family has been a tradition by the Chinese. Maybe that culture is the main reason why the Chinese in our country are mostly successful in business. They can make a start up with little capital because their friends and family would give them support. When the business grows, it is his turn to help the newcomers in the business.

I agree with you. I used to be embarrassed to ask any of my friends or family members to help when I was younger, and I always thought I should be independent to work everything out on my own without asking help from my family or relatives. We are actually not taking advantage of them, but we can be in a good relationship of helping each other or learning from each other. I also think it's a good idea to give affiliate commissions whenever a friend helps to get sales, it's good for us, and good for them too, so it's a win-win. Moreover, it's also a way to show our appreciation.

Thanks for sharing your points!

I felt the same way about being embarrassed to ask for help. in fact, I am still a little bit embarrassed until now because I grew up not relying on family's personalized help on certain aspects of my life. Same with my friends. I much rather ask for help of acquaintances or just pay for others to help me. But then as I grow older, and started to put my first offline business before, I realized that it's an essential part of being into business. You have to ask for help for the right people. It's actually a brilliant idea to give them affiliate commissions because they'll be taking something out of helping you too. You'll grow your network doing this and as a result, will help you step up your game too.

I feel same way too, I thought they won't take things like that seriously, with the look of things they are the best people to make it work.

I agree that friends and family members can help you when you get stuck with your business. I also know that other successful experts who are neither your friends or family members can still help you. Some people have pride and would never ask for help from a family member especially a dysfunctional family. And again, it won't be nice to mix family with your personal business because some might feel they are entitled to the shares especially when they start seeing it as a family business.

Looking at the positive side, I do agree with the points mentioned on the original post.

True words, family and friends should always have a role they play in your business, I used to get all locked up with them too not wanting their affairs with my business, then I realized it's a win win thing/situation.

When I get my blog in good shape, I will get them started with their various assistances with a good pay included.

I think friends and families seems to be saving a lot of time and money on the business side. Many of them can do the promotion. And some of the time they can build some connections for you. And it can then build up the connections on the side as well. I think failing business can get a lot of suggestions and advice on the business. And it can help on that part as well. Sometimes we have to let other people help our business.

In my case, family members really aren't much help since we all don't operate in the same way and we may just not be that type of family. I've seen some of my friends' families and they operate very well as a unit and they really help each other's business ventures and I've always been envious of that. In my family I mostly just keep my ventures to myself because I don't want to affect their image in any way if ever I fail or do something wrong.

Yes that happens for many. In such case friends can be handy. If not friends then office people. I have seen that works out in that case. I have learned that it takes time for the business to grow. And in such case any lead is a good lead. One just have to be really serious about the networking part in that case.

Sometimes family members are busy themselves and don't have the time to help you with projects. My sister especially works a full time job and has two kids in college. She also helps to take care of elderly parents so she is not exactly the one to ask for help..in my opinion!

Yes and No to this. Yes, if a relative is receptive to your business, they can help. However, not all relatives can co-exist with your business goals. They may not approve of or like the business you're in, or cannot grasp the logistics of it in order to be useful to you.

I like the line that your family and friends can be your social media team. Yeah, why not? Think if you have 20 friends and 20 relatives who are willing to support you, spreading your promotional post would reach far and wide with those 40 shares. And if they happen to have a supporting circle then your post can go trending. I’m not really keen on giving commissions since it is like paying them for the help. What’s better is giving them a token and I’m sure it would be appreciated.

I really liked the idea of making friends and family a part of my social media team. This will not only ease my wrok but also save me money (I might not have to pay to my friends and fanmily members).
Since some times I am also thinking about sharing revenue with the people who promote my business and drive sales. In fact I am already in talk with a friend, who is some kind of influencer on facebook. I can use him to drive sales. When I make money, I can share with him.

I truly agree with this. Family and relatives can save and support your business because they can support your financial and decision in whatsoever. Once your business earned money you can share it with them because at the beginning they support you on this process

My aunt owns a secondhand clothing shop in our town, and for a hot minute it really did seem like the store was going to go under at one point. That is until I stepped in, anyway, and started helping her modernize her business a little bit. Through social media marketing and my skills in photography, I helped her gain a more professional image and helped spread the word about the products and services she was providing, eventually helping her gain more customers.

And I did it all for free. Just goes to show that you can't beat having a good, strong family.

I definitely agree, there's no one else can help you in times of needs but your family. Business is not all perseverance and dedication. A big part of business is objective and collaboration, if your trying to cope up with business specially during hard times a wise thing to do is seek advice and consent with family. Family is the most loyal person you can get and basically the most easiest you can collaborate with. Also your objective for your business will likely to be supported by your family because of the common value and vision you share. Remember your family is where you get your fundamentals in life...

This is so true. Your family do help out in meaningful ways. And it's heartwarming that they're so open and supportive of your pursuits in life. I know some people who've had great help coming from their friends and family.
