Does transcription job pay better than blogging?

I transcribe once in a while and I am just wondering if there are people who get paid bigger than blogging on sites and forums. Does transcription pay really well for some as a freelancer cause in my own experience, I have not encountered being paid huge for that kind of service?

I know some people who are full time bloggers and they make a decent amount from this. In the beginning you may face some difficulties as a blogger. However, if you master SEO then you will no doubt be successful. You must also create interesting contents of high quality. This will also drive traffic to your blog. You will also be able to earn from your blog on a monthly basis. When it comes to transcription jobs you will only get hired for those jobs every now and then. Thus, your online earnings will fluctuate when it comes to transcribing.

You don't really have to get hired after you initially pass the first exam if you're referring to the transcription jobs online. Whenever the client posts an audio, it comes available for the transcribers to work on but it's always first come first served basis. Regardless of that, I agree with you that blog is much more profitable.

Blogging to me is more beneficial and more profitable. transcription is a good way of making money but blogging pays better.people are making money from good ads network on their blogs. selling ads space to advertisers rakes in more money and even using ones blog to advertise for companies. Blogging to me gives one more money.

Honestly, no. Blogging pays way more than transcription ever will. These transcription agencies that you see online do pay but what they pay compared to the actual amount of time, energy and effort is minimal. If you'd ever go out in the world and get hired by a proper company then you'd be earning the real money. I have been doing transcription for different agencies and some are better than others but it can't compare to the money that you can make through blogging.

I am learning this through experience as well. I looked at a few transcription sites (I think I found them from frequenting Seocheckout, actually), and you can make some money there, but if I were going to choose which thing I wanted to pursue with my energy primarily every day, I would say that the blog direction is the one I would go in. However, making money at the transcription sites is better than not making that money at all, so doing that WHILE you build other business venues for yourself would make sense. Time management is tough, and we all only have so much energy at our disposals, of course.

It depends. If you are able to grow and develop your blog enough then you can actually make quite a lot of money from it and it will definitely pay a lot more than a transcription job. But if you create your own business that offers transcription services then you may be able to earn a decent amount. The problem with transcribing is that most people do it through a service which takes a huge fee and that means you won't be able to make enough money from it.

I think it depends on how much time and effort you put into your blog. If you treat your blog like it is your job you will likely earn more on it, if it is a casual interest of yours you will likely learn less and you would be better off with transcription.

I think even as a casual interest if you do it properly then you can actually make a decent amount of money from it. And the added bonus is that you can actually make passive income from a blog if you can write really good content that does well. With transcribing, you actually have to do it every single time to make money.

Well there is casual and then their is casual. To make decent money I think you probably have to blog nearly every day or at least a few times a week. I guess it depends what casual means to you,and how much time you are willing to devote to it.

Well... I think it all depends on how much time do you spend and how hard you try to work on them. Of course there is a difference related to the value that each site offers to users (which can be very frustrating for many people), but without hard work you'll never achieve very satisfactory values.

I have not tried transcription job, however, I hear that is it a high paying job. I know about blogging because I have been a blogger for many years. In order to earn better from transcription, you need to join a reputed company that actually pays. I hear that many companies just scam people. If your transcription company is based in the US, Canada or UK, and you are from Asia or Africa, you are likely to earn better (based on forex rate). Blogging is not a paying job. You need to write, publish, monetize it, wait for traffic to come and convert to sales, ad clicks etc. UNless you are a celebrity blogger, blogging does not generate your pay check every month.

I am in one of the transcription sites from the US. and it pays low. It makes me work for a 6 minute audio for an average of 1 hour and the average pay for that is around $2.5. Because you need to send a clean file. You need to check it again for errors and that also takes time. For high difficulty audios, it will make you finish it in about 1 hour or more and you have to check it again. For easy audios, my average time finishing them is about 30-45 minutes including the checking. It still is low paying even if you're from Asia. At least for me, this is the reality. I don't know about the others who freelance their transcription services.

But I also think this is a beneficial tool in becoming a blogger/writer especially when you're not a native english speaker. I haven't blogged yet (but planning to be one) so I cannot answer if it's good than transcription but what i do know is each requires dedication and time to earn a decent amount to be able to pay your bills and definitely better than not earning at all.

I think transcription job is a good side income while developing your blogging website and skills especially if you are just getting started in blogging career. Successful blogging career could take time but it is much rewarding compared to transcription job. Transcription job might give big earnings if you are able to find clients that will give you many projects but you won't be developing other profitable skills if you're just going to focus on that job. Then you could only earn if there is current project. While in blogging, there are many ways on how you can monetize your skills.

I think that your experience with transcription is going to greatly vary depending on the website/employer that you sign up with. Then again, this can also apply to basically any sort of work available, both on and off the internet.

In my personal experience, I didn't exactly have what I could call a positive experience. I tried working for the sites Rev and GoTranscript, and it was basically mind numbing slave labor. For one thing, the pay was pretty horrid for the amount of work you had to put in. And besides accurate transcription taking a while to do, the audio quality was almost always awful so it was mentally exhausting to try and get an accurate transcription. You also had to make sure you did as well as possible or else you'd get the boot real quick. I personally quit those sites and am not looking back.

That isn't to say that audio transcription isn't good work though. If you setup a freelancer profile and found professional work with people who actually give a darn about audio quality, it can actually be rewarding, well paying work. I just never really cared to establish a strong foothold in the field.

My niece has been a medical transcriber or transcriptionist for more than 10 years now. She is earning more than $3,000 a month which is big money here. On the other hand, a blogger friend earns half that amount with her popular blog and she estimates to earn more than $3,000 from her blog next year. Given the 2 cases, I would prefer to be in the shoes of the blogger.

She is lucky to have a client that pays that much as has been consistent with it as well. One good thing about that is the fact that she is going to offer her all to keep the job going and you also have to consider the fact that transcribing some professional words can pay higher as well.

Transcription jobs are the most tiresome type of jobs. You can see that it takes a lot of time for such type of the jobs to make any decent income. And they can consume a lot of time. You may have to spend time doing stuff. And things are not going to be something properly managed in that case. I think blogging does take time for things to pay off. I'd suggest you to do some transcription jobs and find out if it is something you want to do for long time. I have seen most of my friends quitting after 1 year or so as it is physically draining.

I don't think blogging is easier as well. One thing about it all is doing what gives you joy and fulfillment and not about the money at the moment. Once the passion is there, they don't consider the stress involved.

Blogging and affiliate reviews if mixed in then yes it can be good. But yes I agree that it is not going to be easy. Getting people to read your stuff is not going to be that easy. Most of the people struggle with converting their links. And for the same reason alone I'd say it's better to stick with the blogging with reviews.

Transcription jobs are not, by any means, better than blogging. Blogging can provide life stream of income while transcribing can never do that. If you are transcribing on a website, but unfortunately, the website crumbles, that's the end of the job. If you are running your own blog, nothing affects that unless you are operating a blog that is being hosted on a free hosting platform. You just need to perform all necessary SEO tasks to make your blog search engine friendly.

Doing online transcription jobs can be likened to content mill writing jobs where you can get an assurance of a steady flow of income if you work at something. These jobs, however, are temporary by nature and something where you can only earn if you put in hard work. On the other hand, blogging may be tough in the beginning, but if you work hard at it, it can become a steady source of passive income that will earn money with little work. Best of all, a blog is your baby and you have full control over it.

I cannot say which one pays better than another because someone who is well trained in transcription can make more money than when they decide to blog. You have to know which you are good at then you can focus on it more. Once you have experience and a good CV about work experience to back you up, you can then get a job in companies that pay well. It can be transcription or blogging.

I am also taking notes on transcription currently and I know I have a long way to go once I decide to start transcribing.

Honestly, I have not try any transcription online job yet. You can try at Upwork because I have a friend who was paid well there. However, I believe that Blogging pays better because you can set up third party affiliate program on your blog.

I believe that you are most likely to make better rewards from blogging as opposed to transcription. I have seen where some persons have become highly successful by maintaing blogs and the success of their blogs have opened up many other opportunities for them. Many transcription sites tend to pay small fees per unit of work and sometimes there isn't a lot of work that is readily available and this along with the grading and acceptance of the work, which might take a bit of time, may limit the amount of money that may be earned by doing transcription jobs.

I think it just depends on experience and the situation you are in. I know that a lot of transcribers can make good money and I know some bloggers can be just as well paid. I do think there is a lot more chances of growing your revenue with blogging though because it is more like a business wherein you could earn from your blog as little or as much as you gather an audience, whereas with transcribing you would only get paid as much as you set your price for your work.

It's still true that transcription depends on experience and being know around some transcription sites. I've seen dudes that make as much as $25 per hour on transcription sites, but it doesn't mean that it is same for everyone concerned on it.

You can't compare earnings you make from blogging with unstable source of income like transcription. One thing that I've come to realize is that once in a while, there are going to be some slow down in traffic to the blog, but that doesn't mean that you won't be making decent income at the end of every month. So, I suggest you learn more about blogging and ways to make money from it.

NO. Transcription, in my opinion, is a horrible use of people's energies. Most sites pay an average of 0.17 dollars per minute. If you transcribe a one-hour audio you earn 10 dollars. Note that to transcribe a one-hour audio, it can take you up to 4 hours to transcribe. Also, note our work needs to be accurate if you can't hear a word properly your work can be rejected. You need to read and be familiar with a transcription guide, that can be 30 pages or longer. I think this is an absolute waste of your time.

Blogging, on the other hand, can make you money while you're sleeping. Once you understand and implement the basics i.e your website, SEO, you can earn unlimited amounts of money. You also don't use as much energy and it's more enjoyable.

I agree that blogging can earn you money even if you are sleeping because it is like saying that the product you had made can be sold to the readers. Some freelancers call it passive income to mean that you earn even if you are not working on it. The transcription job pays good money but I know that it is tedious because you have to exert effort in doing the work that you spend a lot of time to accomplish it.
