What is the Best Free Backup Plugin for Wordpress

When I was still with my old hosting company (JustHost) I maintained multiple websites. I started out with a shared hosting plan. Then traffic began to boom and my sites crashed resulting in loss of revenue. I switched to VPS because of that. However, I had difficulty in the long run to cover up the huge cost of the VPS plan plus extra storage. There was a time when my due date to pay my plan lapsed.

When I contacted JustHost to renew my account, they told me that all my data was erased and there was no backup. All my hard work disappeared in an instant just because I didn't back up my files.

Now, I have a new website, on a new host (1&1) and I'm pretty happy with the service. However, I no longer want to experience losing all my precious data. I use exclusively use WordPress. Could you tell me what you think is the best plugin to backup my website? Note, that I'm looking for a free plugin.

I think you should make use of the free plugins that backup the content to the Google Drive or Dropbox. This way you can have the backup on the online storage services. And it can bring you the backup rollback system as well. And this is indeed a good option. There are some of the sites such as the vaultpress and the jetpack. Those sites seems to be having paid plans for the wordpress backup. But if you make use of those services the then the rollback of backups is one click. And you should definitely take a look at those.

This is a WordPress plugin. There are also cloud solutions like VaultPress and few others. Here you can do the cloud backup. And automatically roll out backup if you change host. And if your host had some data issue. In such case the backup through cloud on those sites is useful. So vaultpress and jetpack are good option on that part.

I have been using JustHost for a while now, with no problems...at least no problems that I would not expect from time to time. I tried GoDaddy at one point for a startup blog, and they couldn't even handle minimal traffic. The site would go down for hours. And, their tech support was just horrible. Many times, the site would come back online while I was on the phone, and tech support would claim there was no problem and call back if the site went down again so they could see it in real time. That happened so many times, I started believing they were intentionally flipping some switch on and off.

Anyway, I have JustHost setup for automatic backups, which I have verified and have used after being hacked one time. I also use UpdraftPlus as extra insurance. I have it setup to store backups in Google Drive, but there are many options, including UpdraftPlus' own storage, Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon S3, and much more.
