Have you ever donated to a blog before?

Almost all websites allow donations. I mean, why wouldn't they? The hosting itself and running a website can get quite expensive and unless you're taking advantage of AdSense or other methods, you will struggle in the financial area. That's why donations can often help with the maintaining of websites.

I have donated only once to a blog so far. It was a few years ago and it was animals focused blog. One of the shelters opened it and they were accepting donations that went towards the care of the animals. I didn't mind donating since it went to a really good cause.

I am curious if any of you guys ever donated to a blog before? If yes, what were the reasons?

I have donated to a blog owned by my friend back then in the university and I felt okay doing that. I enjoyed reading most of his posts on social media platforms and when I advised him that starting a blog and making money out of it is going to be an amazing way to earn as a writer, he did not think twice and took my advice and that was the reason I cam to his aid, financially, when he needed it. So, I think donating to a blog is okay if you've got an interest on it.

I have donated once to an inspirational blog out my own volition. I saw what he was doing with the blog to encourage and inspire people and I didn't want him to stop soon.So to encourage him I gave him some money even if it could help in paying for maintenance of the blog.it will go a long way.

I always try to do this when the blog is really good (I mean, above the average), but unfortunately there isn't always money, right? Haha!

Some blogs really deserve a lot more help than they get. The work that some owners do is really excelente (I'm even surprised by some of them).

Yes i donated some amounts of money so far. Specially to those who offer some great WordPress Plugins for free. Some guys really make good work as open-source so i contribute to thank them for their efforts. To be hones i found some interesting free plugins having better features then premiums, so instead buying another plugin with disappointment, i donate to these who make me happy Have you ever donated to a blog before?

I don't remember exactly what the name of the blog was (it was about movies), but yes... I already made some donations because the efficiency of the work that was offered was actually very good. The owner was very attentive to the needs of the members.

I think I donated to Wikipedia. It's the least I could do.

I have seen blogs with the Donate buttons but can't remember clicking on them. I don't want to put Donate buttons on my blogs even though I know it's acceptable. I was to earn income from my blog. Income is not the same as a Donation and I want to prove that blogs can be monetized and legitimate income can be earned from blogging.

Even when you have ads on your blog and website, your earning may be pretty low because having adverts on your blog and website does not guarantee revenue. You might have adsense or amazon ads, however, in order to earn from adsense, the visitors should click your adsense ads (organic clicks) and buy amazon products by visiting your links. That's why people have donate button on their website. I have never clicked this donate button. However, I have donated to many bloggers privately.

I have donated to the site called donationcoder.com. That site allows you to donwload some free programs. And you can donate them whatever you want depending on the value. So that is one good site. They have both good quality content on forum. And also some good value on their software too. So depending on how that goes, it'd be reasonable to to use software such as that. I think it's a good website worth using. I may soon go for the patreon in such case if required.

I have donated to friends' blogs before, especially when they were first starting out. I think this is a great way to be supportive of content that you appreciate and of the people in the community who you believe in and who are doing great work. Sometimes, and I know this from experience, even a small donation goes a long way because it also gives the blogger a vote of confidence in that the hard work they are putting into the blog is not going un-noticed. I have always been wary of putting donate buttons on my page, and I have not as of yet, but it does not really bother me if other bloggers do so.

I have never donated to a blog. I would have to have some awesome content to do that. I have thanked people on a blog though, because some blogs are very informative and I have gotten a great deal of useful information from them. This is something I think we are all looking for really.

Never donated to a blog and I doubt I ever will to be honest. I just haven't come across any blogs that are worthy of a donation because of how good their content is especially considering I don't really read blogs that much. I'm sure there are blogs out there that deserve an occasional donation but I just haven't come across one as yet

Yes I have, I donated to a cat rescue before and once I donated they sent me a link for a new donation that started at a $10 donation all the way up to a $6,500 donation. And that didn't sit well with me. Granted the cats need care, but donations should be voluntary and you shouldn't ask for donations after you get your first donation!

I donated to this really weird blog before. However, I felt like it was an obligation because I do so much posting on it. Nonetheless, I'm sure some feel that those who do a lot of work shouldn't have to donate, but only those who post a little or just read it. Anyway, though, it was a pleasure to donate because I felt sort of sorry for the owner because the blog is his only source of income and he claims he cannot do regular work. Nonetheless, some feel like he's making excuses.

I have not really donated to a blog but a non profit organization about animal protection on Facebook. This organization was relying on donations at that time to help stray animals by sterilizing them. Apart from that I have not really donated to any blog or any other Facebook page.

I'm not sure if the donation model is so hot. A lot of people are cheapskates. In that case, someone asking for donations might feel frustrated. Also, of course, the blog, forum, etc. would need a lot of traffic probably to even get anything. Anyway, for a similar example to donations, look at the example of free hosting. That niche is dying cause owners are simply getting tons of freeloaders who won't upgrade.

No, I have not donated to any blog in the past. I don't know , the fact that I don't actually know the people it's kind of a deal breaker for me when it comes to that matter, I just don't feel like doing it because I don't actually feel identify to that person if I don't know her/him/them for a fact.

I've done donations on my relatives or friend's blogs. I think that is a way to show them support. The other blogs or forums that can get my donations are, sites related to pets, specially pets in danger or abandoned, and help for people in a medical need. Usually I verify the source of those sites, because there are a lot of bad people that could take advantage on it. I think this is the kind of help that I can do, just need to be sure the help goes straight to the ones in need.

I try and donate to many creative projects that sound interesting or provide me with a valuable resource. If it's requested or greatly needed. It makes the decision easier if they explain what the money is for, where it's going to and why. Stealthy 'we need donations' requests require more investigation from my end.

I haven't donated to a blog ever. The blogs that I enjoy reading don't have donation options at all. Many of them earn money either through ads or sponsored content. I wouldn't mind donating, though, if I feel that a blog or the cause is worth it, although that would be rare these days. There are people who take to the internet to raise funds for their own benefits. I do feel that there are more people around me who have bigger need for money and are more deserving of donations. Well, I work hard for my money and I don't want to waste it on some people's frivolities.

I have never ever donated funds to any blog in my life, but have offered free and paid comments to other people's blogs. I only spend to finance my own blog and pay others in request for blog commenting. I only approve comments that are 100% relevant to the contents of my blog. It's just like a pay-it-forward system.

I have donated to my friends blogs a couple of times. My friends are indie bloggers and do not make a lot of money from their blogs. In order to make them active with blogging, I donated some money so that they can pay for hosting and keep the blog up. I have never asked for a donation, but I might have a donate button on my personal website.

I frequently donated money for animal shelter blogs, save the dolphins blog, save the elephant blog and save the children blog. I believe these blogs are original because I can check up the latest updates on the FB sites.

In the elections here in 2013, there was a blogger night for one candidate. It was like a press conference except that there is no traditional media people but only bloggers. After the event, the bloggers were handed checks as donation for their blogs. That is one wonderful way of getting funds because the blog also has an expense and that donation will surely go a long way.
