Social media was the number one way for me to increase traffic. Besides bringing more traffic to my website, I was able to come across as more relatable and friendly. I made videos and uploaded pictures on various platforms. Keyword research is good too because you want to write interesting topics. Who knows? You may even recruit some of your clients to refer even more people to your blog. The opportunities are endless. Fan pages and unique content help in attracting more people. Communicating with your clients leads to a fun atmosphere for everyone.

I agree, social media marketing is great in building and cultivating an organic audience. That's also mostly how i got traffic for my blog. What I like most about doing it that way is that you get to engage the audience in a more personal manner so they are more in tune with your process and they get a sense of the humanity behind your site instead of just seeing it as another collection of pixels on the screen.

Yes, I think the solution is a little bit different for everyone, but these are some great ways to get traffic to your blog. I like the idea of asking your readers to refer people, it can be an interesting option to get blogging traffic in, it is not one that everyone has considered I am sure.

I'll jump on this bandwagon with the other commenters. Social media sharing does help drive traffic. Twitter and Pinterest are especially good for traffic. IMHO.

With blogger, for some reason, my content wasn't showing up on Pinterest..even though I have a subscription I am not sure why that is. I asked for help with that, but I am not sure it ever got resolved.

Social media is also my choice because it looks easier than the other SEO methods. I am not still comfortable with building backlinks for there is a risk that I might be posting my backlink on a bad site. And there is also the so called no-follow URL that my backlink there will not have any effect. Promoting the site in social media will surely get positive reactions if you have a good number of connections.

Publishing quality contents has helped me more when it comes to driving traffic. I avoid publishing on saturated topic, I write my own contents and never copy from other sources. As long as you offer unique, interesting and useful contents, your website will continue to draw traffic.
Secondly, SEO helps in bringing traffic. Your content title needs to have keywords if not the exact match with search query. Having 5 percent keywords on the body of the content also helps.
Sharing on social media also helps in building traffic. There are numerous social media sites atb our disposal.

SEO by a long shot! I mean I have basic skills in pretty much any online marketing technique of bringing traffic. None is more beneficial than organic traffic. I mean you can bring on people from Facebook Ads, AdWords or general email and social media traffic, but none of the traffic will convert better than well targeted organic traffic.

For me it seems to be the social media. I can tell you that more social media traffic the better it is for the conversion. You may also notice that website strategy has it's set of the backlinks which may work from the forums. I would say you can benefit from the social media more than the SEO in many ways. I think another option is to go with the content marketing. For me that works out just fine.

Well, like the poster above said. It's through social media. and i think that's the best traffic campaign method out there, because when it comes to organic and real human traffic social media helped me the most, through Ads and support links.
By starting a niche-specific group where members can ask questions and get support (and don’t forget to point them back to your site’s content
where relevant).
And through sponsored Ads. it's worth the few bucks

Next to social media would be paid traffic. Paid traffic can also be acquired via social media. You just gotta hire the right person to do that job for you. The best thing about paid traffic is that you would always get organic and real ones unlike the bots that are often used to get traffic and views. You can also post on forums that are relevant to your website - there are a lot of website exchange forums out there that you could try out.

galegating,
I can't quite yet afford a lot of paid trafficking, unless you know of some cheap places to get it that you could suggest? I am not at all interested in using the bots, and I would rather grow a more organic following, even if it takes much more time. I am learning slowly how to use the forums to my advantage, but being a newbie, it is slow-going. I know I can produce good content; now, I just need to get savvy about getting people to my content to read it...

I understand. We all come from that stage. As a matter of fact, I haven't even got away from that level of 'newbieness' yet. What website traffic strategy helped most? Anyway, I am quite sure how paid trafficking works and I am certain that you also know a good one which would definitely help you. You can try using Postloop for example. Postloop is by far the best paid to post platform which would guarantee you organic traffic.

galegating,
Thanks again for your response here, and otherwise, to my comments. I am actually using postloop right now, and I am learning more and more how to use it to my advantage in terms of generating traffic. I have not found a really good paid traffciking site which does what I want and is also affordable to me, but that does not mean there is not one out there, and so i am definitely still looking for that.

Glad to be of help! Yeah. It is very effective. have you listed your site already there? And may I know which one it is? I'm sure you would do great because I've seen your posts here and there, and they are top notch and have very good qualities! But if ever you find another one that suits you, that's even better.

Thanks so much for these compliments, and I honestly feel the same about your posts, here and elsewhere, as well. I have not listed the blogs here yet because I am not quite done tinkering with a few things. I could email you a few links to what I am working on if you like. I am about to move everything from the blogsite I am on to hopefully a better host, so I am in the midst of growing pains. I am still getting traffic, due to the content, I guess.

There are a lot of cheap traffic sites, but how much help they are I don't know. I guess they give you the illusion of popularity anyway, which might impress some people who come to your blogs or website.

Don't believe in cheap traffic sites because they can provide you low quality traffic.
Why? because you will get what you pay for.

Social media. I would try to avoid paid traffic, to be honest, they are just a short-term solution and aren't really good for you in the long term. Social media is a great thing to setup and can help you a lot to bring in traffic. Social media can help you a lot because it can help you advertise yourself to a lot of new readers as well which is extremely beneficial to you. Users that like your content could decide to share your social media content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
Yes, I would tend to agree with this DarthHazard, i think that hits you buy can come from anywhere. They are generally people that may or not be interested in your content. They could even be bots, so I would go with the idea that social media is the best way to acquire traffic that might be actually useful and helpful to you.

I agree with you. I tested this once and I didn't really get much out of it. Although, to be fair, I don't think the service in itself is completely useless, but just that the benefit of it was what I was looking for. I think paid traffic is mostly just there to pad the numbers to better the image of a certain account or site slightly, whereas when I was starting my blog I really needed an organic audience much more than I did higher numbers of views.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I don't think it is useless either, it at least gets you some exposure what is what you want. I think many varieities of traffic enticements exist and a paid variety is just something that people know about and use on a fairly regular basis.

Darthhazard,
So far I am following this model also. I don't have the budget, as of yet, to pay for trafficking, but, in an way, this has become a good thing because it is helping me to be more creative with my social media, and other methods, in order to get traffic to my blogs.

There are a lot of great responses here. Social media and creating a fan page for the content seem to be the most effective way to advertise your blog or website and get supporters. That is something that I plan to work on in the coming weeks and months. I also like the idea of a niche specific group where people can direct any questions they have to you about the topic or a similar one as well. And of course, as we all know, content is king.

kgord,
I have 5000 followers, the maximum, on my facebook home page...I want to shift all of this to a fan page. Any suggestions about how to do that without losing a lot of people? Or should I just keep using my personal page for my posts about my blogs, business, freelancing, etc.? I am having a hard time making the big move to the fanpage and starting over, but it could just be my own insecurity?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I am not sure. I am not that experienced with that sort of thing, it seems like you have a lot of followers now. why do you want to shift and change the formula? In other words, if it is not broken why fix it?

Unique content is the most effective strategy to increase huge amount of website traffic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
That helps, because people are not going to keep coming back to your website if you are offering junk or information they could get elsewhere. You simply have to promote and advertise your content, market it as well as have quality content available in my opinion. Thank you for your input however!

I agree, but I could write the most amazing thing ever and not be smart about traffic strategies, so how do I practically boost the population of my site visitors? In either case, you are definitely right--without awesome and unique content, even if I only had one or two visitors, they would not come back more than once.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
Yes, unless they were friends who wanted to help you out by giving you some traffic they wouldn't. Just the random person out visiting blogs and sites, probably would not give you a second look. You have to have something interesting on your site.

In one website that I've seen, traffic came mostly from organic searches and social media, in almost equal parts, with organic traffic having a little edge. Traffic from organic searches can be attributed to SEO and great content, while the contribution from social media is mostly due to a dynamic engagement with the website's niche community. I haven't seen paid traffic being used on this website, but I believe that when used, it might contribute more traffic, depending on how much is invested.

The quick conclusion I can come up with from this mini-case study is that it's not just one factor, but a combination of factors that will bring traffic to your website. You'll just have to do a lot of testing to find out the best combination.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
Yes, I agree with that. I don't think the same strategy is going to work for everyone, but there are certainly some tried and true methods that seem to work for most people. I totally agree with testing out various methods and finding the ones that will bring you the most traffic!

My content has been my back-bone.I write to write on new topics or bring in a new angle to an already written topic. As a blogger you must always think outside the box.Read on more refreshing topics and also leave room for further discussion

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, I think there is no substitute for good content and also doing keyword research is important as well. People have to be able to discover your content to read your blog. It is a great idea to do keyword research and have the strategies in place to write knowledgably on your blog and have content that people want to come back to and read.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think you have some great ideas there, and ones that everyone who is serious or semi serious about their blog or website could use. I would tend to think that you would have a lot of people who would respond to your strategies, and would visit your blog or website on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing!

Nothing helps more than writing a good article and getting organic traffic from people who generally care about what you have to say. And there is nothing worse than driving a bunch of people to your website only to increase your bounce rate. My website has a very low bounce rate because my viewers are targeted and I am not set out to see how many viewers that I can get. I would rather have people that are going to stick around!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
Yes, that is a great point! I think people who are committed to your blog because you offer fresh and engaging content are the people who are going to make a difference in terms of the success or lack of success of your blog. It is something you can vary on a regular basis.

but to have it, I need to focus on SEO and more patience.
Anyway, SEO always gives me more sales and good conversations on my sites.

On-Page SEO techniques really help in boosting traffic. But I didn't much positive response with Off-Page SEO techniques.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is not true, On-Page SEO techniques are just helping you to improve SEO for your site, it doesn't help increasing traffic for a website though.

I guess that SEO seems to be the favored technique in terms of promoting pages and getting page views. It seems like that it is the preferred or essential way to get traffic to your site. It is just one of the ways to get the quality content that you need. I like SEO for website promotion.

I mean if you are just gettting generic traffic from an overseas site, how is that really going to help? It may give you the illusion of popularity, but that is all that it really is, is an illusion. YOu don't have people who are necessarily really interested in your site or what you have to offer.

When I was co-blogging, our main marketing method was the email. Take note that there was no social media yet at the time. But now, it is the social media that is the greenest pasture for marketing your business interest. It may not be much but you can get traffic no matter how minimal. And if you will push it more by seeking the support of the people in your social media network, I think that will be substantial in number.
