Success doesn't happen overnight. Go out and get it.

I've noticed that in a lot of my discussions that are written to help people out when it comes to making some extra cash on the side or to start a new venture, there are a lot of nay sayers.  Now I'm not saying they are commenting negatively, but they aren't being very positive in the comments because they say something like "Well this takes time" or "Too many people are doing it" lol.  Well I'm here to tell you that a good business WILL TAKE TIME.  No one has gone out and started working then instantly was successful, No One.  They bust their ass to do what they love and sometimes it turns out that they become successful.  Of course it's a little easier to become successful when you like what you're doing, that's a no brainier.

One of the comments that got my gears grinding was "There are too many social media managers out there for me to start doing this now".  Well remember that there was always a Myspace before there was a Facebook.  Also, how many social media managers do you know who have full time jobs?  I know about 3 and I've been working online since 2003 lol.  It's a saturated market, but it's only saturated because people can easily get into it.  If you want to become a social media manager, you need to be the best at it and contact businesses directly before you start to complain about it.  I do social media management for 7 companies at the moment and to get those 7 clients I probably had to contact 1,000 businesses.  It's not an easy thing to do, but it's income that you can generate month after month if you get them to sign a contract.

Another comment I was was on something I wrote about painting houses and how you could get your initial reviews for it.  The comment was something along the lines of "You can't just jump into this, sometimes you have to go to school to learn it" which had me triggered because that's just asinine.  I know painters who started up with a few paint buckets in their trunk and handing out flyers to the houses in their area.  They eventually turned it into a 30 man crew working full time across a 50 mile span and making enough money to have work vehicles, offices, etc.  The person also said something along the lines of "Just slapping some paint on your walls might be good for you or a friend, but not for everyone".  If someone has a painting business, I would hope that they aren't just "slapping paint" on the customers walls and hoping to get paid for it.  They will obviously need ladders, paint brushes, rollers, extensions, drop clothes, insurance, etc. in order for a random person to feel comfortable hiring them.  I was actually working on a painting business before I started up my marketing career and I decided to stop.  Now I look back at it and think "Maybe I should have stuck with it because it could have been something amazing right now".

Being successful takes hard work and thinking outside of the box sometimes.  If someone is posting something to help others out, don't come in and post how you think it won't work or how you think it's wrong.  Post something about how you can spin it in a certain way to help others in their journey and make some additional cash on the side or push it into a full time business.

You will never be successful if you focus only on the negative aspects of a business and not what you can do to overcome them.  You need to focus on what you want to do and then attack it strategically so that there's much less risk of failure.  Of course you will run into some hard times and possibly fail, but that's ok because you will be learning.

I just had a conversation about this with an ex-girlfriend of mine yesterday who was stressed out about her job search. She called me saying that she felt bewildered and knew that she needed to put herself out there more, but her confidence, she felt, was holding her back from applying more and to more diverse positions because she was getting tired of rejection. I simply replied, "Well, what would you rather be? Rejected or invisible and non-existent to potential employers?". She said she knew I was right. You have to put yourself out there and try and not give up. I am not sure yet, exactly how to make money freelancing, but I am learning every day as I go, and I have already gotten a lot out of that learning experience even if I do not continue in this line of work.

I think the success is more or less step wise approach. As in you earn one success in step 1. And then another. And this goes up till you are secure with foundation and the current success if also setting you for something safe. So it depends on how you are doing the things. Another thing is that we have to feed on our earlier success. And make sure that we are scaling what is successful. That way we can build on many small things that leads up to bigger success.

For me, success means hard work. You don't get success overnight and it's not just about 1 project unless you are in show business where you can be an overnight star. With a professional career, honing your skills is the basic step towards the road to success and practice makes perfect which means you have to use your skills to your advantage. Again, hard work, perseverance, focus and some other traits that would lead to a positive result in your quest for success are the important factors.

I totally agree with this comment. You have seen in every life story of successful directors, managers, owners, the main fact that they all worked their soul out. Hard work, an day and night investment of time and effort, are keys to be leading an empire. Also, I would say perseverance and faith in themselves is what take successful people to the top.

I think it is important to take the proper steps and lay the groundwork for your success. I mean hard work is important, but it is only going to take you so far without proper planning and follow through. I think people who are nay saying, are not being negative but just pointing out some of the realities of the situation to others.

Good post as always Raz. Indeed success doesn't happen overnight but there are some lucky ones who get the jackpot lol. On ther hand, those negative aspects which affected you in some way must be taken as a lesson in order for you to move forward.

Sucess we all crave it, we all want to achieve it. Aside from the few who may be lucky, that it may come to them overnight, it requires a lot of hard work patience and dedication to achieve it. Sometimes you might be doing the right thing but there may be forces that are beyond your control that is blocking your progress so you have got to be prepared to sometimes endure a bit of trial and errors, learn from the previous failures and get back in the race. If you have an easily-give-up mentality, it's hardly likely that you will be able to make it.

If you want to achieve success then you must work hard to be successful. Nothing is impossible. Everything is up to you. Many people get discouraged when they fail. I always consider failures to be learning experiences. I have learnt a lot through my failures and this only made me stronger to tackle the future.

Everyone success does not happen overnight. It takes a lot of time, effort and persistent to carry on work in order to achieve success. In addition, one must not give up after each failure. You need to rectify the mistakes, acknowledge your mistakes and find the solutions either by oneself or with the help of others. Sometimes, it takes 10 years to succeed.

LOL. Jesus said: “No man builds a house unless he first counts up the costs.” I read your posts. Your advice is wise and you often provide a step-by-step process or a list of great tips. Of course, successful accomplishments will take time, effort, patience, and perseverance. Who came out of their mother's womb six feet tall, walking, talking, and already potty trained??!! (O.o) Success doesn Success doesn

Count up the cost. That is indeed wise words from the Jesus. It can be said, that it also means taking the calculated risk always helps up. People have to understand that often what we think and our actions need to be in sync. That seems to be the way to do the working overnight. That being said success takes years to manage.

I have been writing since 10 years on newspapers. However, I still get rejected. I have been writing online since 7 years and still people as me to do a 500 word article for $4. It took me 10 years to build my current position, however, still, I cannot consider myself to be a successful writer. Success is a difficult word.
I have been writing my websites since two years, still they are not earning me well.
However, I believe if I continue to have patience and work hard, one day I will be fairly successful.

You have a lot of experience. I know you since Bubblews and Hubpages days. So I have followed your progress. You seem to be progressing a lot. I am sure you do much more better than those days. I guess your own website and writing assignment definitely helping. I think success is surely changing word. It changes as we age further. So we just keep on pushing for that.

A good read as usual.Nothing good comes easy and success doesn't happen overnight .one need to consistently toil day and night especially if one is working smart.

I encourage myself every day that no one has ever succeeded without a tint of work and as such I must work to get to my desired goal.

Yes, success comes because of many things.Sometimes we do hard work and we don't get desired result. It never happens overnight. There are a period of reflection and disappointments. Sometimes depression, Despite having abundant opportunities around us. Many entrepreneur lack the nerve to take advantage of them. There is only small number of people that are risk takers and some small amount of people show impact on the world. Just don't sit and wait for better something. So start doing meaningful things.Success is a process and it takes a lot of patience and hustle to make it to where we want to be there. It takes vision, education and drive. the direction is everything. We should know where we are going to. Don't expect someone to lay down a map for you to get success. Have a vision. This is our opportunity to choose our way. We should have an idea, we have to plan it properly and execute it accordingly. Success happen because of hard work and hustle.

We have a saying that ''Rome wasn't built in a day'' and that applies to everything really. Business included. It basically means that things take time. Nothing can happen over night... business is a growing process that takes a lot of time, energy and effort. People that believe in overnight success have probably never done any real business themselves.

And I also agree about being positive. There's so much negativity that sets people ten steps backward. I try my best to have the most positive outlook on business and on life. I think that it's important for becoming successful.

Yes, success indeed can't happen overnight. You have to couple your determination with sacrifice and hard work. In addition, you should know how to do some public relations or PR as they call it. It also helps that you have a group of friends who are regularly interacting because newcomers to your site will be attracted to it having many comments that they will spend the time to read them and comment themselves what they know about it.

Indeed, no negative comments especially when it is a new blog site.

We all have to start somewhere and the more important thing is, we have the courage and conviction to get something going for ourselves. We're bound to commit mistakes along the way, but we can consider them as 'tuition fee' in this university of life. Everywhere, we'll read about business opportunities that look promising and may have worked for some people. One should be able to discern which is a real opportunity worth sacrificing for and not readily jump into every idea just because it worked for someone else. I'll gladly lose time and money on an endeavor that may fail but will leave me with the experience and knowledge to take something bigger. Hard work does not always lead to success. Even so, we can always learn some lessons from our failure and we can use that knowledge to do better on our next project.

Life is a learning process and we are all bound to commit mistakes. I have to agree that success is not an overnight event that you can be successful in a short time. We have to work for it especially when you are in freelancing, I guess you have to be patient and persevering so that you will learn the trade very well and when you get into a job then you can give a quality output.

One of the things I learned growing up is that it's important to have patience. You will have to work for years to even see a glimmer of success, so don't expect results after just a few weeks/months/years. You will most likely need to work for at least a decade to feel successful.

Razzy thank you so much I am inspired, There are people who are born pessimistic, The are always negative and all they are good at is discouraging others who try to do better, We need to not give attention to those people because they are like a virus to the society; Just like you said it is always to take every so called small jobs serious because once taken serious they make you big, In my case when I started to make money I started a business to cook for ceremonies, Every weekend I was having clients to cook for and it was going great till when I finished my studies and started my current work which involves to travelling , This is to show that you can be successful with anything we just need to take it seriously.

Everything that you have written here is the truth. The problem with a lot of people is that they just expect success straight away and they expect this without working much. Success comes from hard work and that hard work will help you to make your business more successful. You can never expect a business or idea to be a success straight away, sometimes things just take a lot of time. There are several real life examples of this although right now I'm too tired to think of any proper examples. I'm sure there have been several businesses which have almost become bankrupt and then gone onto becoming extremely successful. The important thing is to never give up.

I love your post and I can say without a doubt I have been guilty over the years of building a awesome website only to lose interest because it isn't moving fast enough. And I think that happens to a lot of webmasters, we all want to have a overnight blog, forum, website with a million visitors making $5k a month. But that only happens in fantasy land!

What I have learned over the years is it take YEARS of hard work to get a blog, forum, website to start getting a lot of visitors and making money. And let's be honest here you have better odds of going outside in sunny weather and getting struck by lightning then you do making a living off the internet.

I am by no means saying that it can not be done, because it can and people do it all the time. Its just success doesn't happen to everyone. I recently started a new blog/forum and I am 2 months into a 3 year plan. And in 3 years I am going to reevaluate and decide if it's worth going on. And I think that if you can't give a project at least 3 years then you shouldn't bother doing it at all.

They say you can take a horse to the pond but you cannot let him drink if he doesn't want to. In this case you can show some people and while some of us will take the reigns and run with the idea of starting something new and exciting and profitable and worthwhile others will just skim the surface. That's just how life is. There's just folks out there that you cannot please. Nevertheless, the band of merrymen and women plays on to victory and beyond. It's surprising how many times you make the circle around the block onwards and upwards and at every level you will be confronted with some challenge of a sort in one form or the next as if to solidify that the road to victory is often paved with intentional living or passion and drive while some say blood sweat and tears but there is substance within that will persist upon the journey and even moreso the destination.
