Has anyone ever tried to convert their blog into ebooks?

I know the way some people can make money with their blogs is to convert it into an ebook, via Amazon or some other medium. Has anyone ever done this? What was the process like?

I havent actually done that yet but i think there are some wordpress plugins that help you turn your website into an ebook in one swoop. But it is also important to note that before you embark on such your blog be one with relevant and unique contents as any thing less than that will just get you bad reviews.

I have seen some of the people doing it. I have personally have not done it. And seem to be not having plans for the same. I am going to see if that works out for me. I have noticed that using sigil or calibre can work out for the ebook generation. There are some of the ebooks which are easy to render with this. I think it'd not be easy to make them. But they can be easily doable from how I see it.

You said it’s not easy to convert a blog into an e-book but if you have the original copy in word processor then you will not have a problem. When I started submitting articles for blogs, I was advised by the blogger to write using word processor so that I can easily do the revisions or corrections. For one word to change, you can do a search and replace. But if your blog is directly written to the body of the blog page then you have to copy it to a word processor page for convenience.

Turning a blog into a ebook? This is the first that I will hear of this. Does it pick certain parts from your blog? What about your pictures on your blog? Although, I dont think its for my type of blog. I prefer to go the traditional route and write a normal ebook.

This is the first time I am hearing about something about this too. I cannot even understand how would that work as I see blogging as something that is updated regularly which is something you can't do with a book. Unless you release multiple copies.

I think that you can present your blog to Amazon as long as it has a certain length. I think the minimum now is 2,500 words, and have it published on their self publishing option. You have to make a decision what to charge for the ebook. To make money on the book it has to be good quality and you have to do promotion in advance. Smashwords is another place where you could turn your blog into cash, but I believe they require a certain formatting.

I haven't tried that before, but i think that the contant is the first important thing that you should focus on it, and if you have that then you have a big chance to make it work for you and start earning a good income.

Well, yes there is no doubt content is important. To sell and to continue to sell you have to have something that people want to read and it has to be worthwhile for them to read. You want to have good reviews so you can continue to sell books.

I agree. Content has to be good in order to make money. Not making money means the content is very bad. And some of the time you can see that in such case ebooks don't sell much. So it comes down to how we handle the content promotion. So converting from the blog to ebooks is a good idea.

That is interesting. This is the first i hear about this. Does it scans your blogs articles and convert into pdf or something? Probably it's not a great idea to apply in all types of blog, particularly in those with a lot of pictures. I will look more about this for sure.

This will be easier if I can get a system or an application that can compile all my blog post into a document. I mean it be hard to start copying each post one by one. That whom be a huge task although it us not impossible if there's no option like the one I supposed up there. But I must add that I have never heard of this before but it can be another way of earning more from your contents.

This is the first time I am hearing this. If there is a software that can do it, then it will be a lot easier. Copying all of your blog post including pictures is a lot of work. Why not just write an ebook and upload it to Amazon.com?

Never heard of this before. How exactly would the book look like though? Just the blog posts or what? Wouldn't that be hard to read unless the blog is something like a diary... if my blog would be about random events that happen around the world, I don't really see a point in trying to turn it into e-book. I guess it largely depends on the topics that your blog covers and discusses... might be a hard process.

I don't think the process is that difficult, if you are interested, probably investigating the self publishing options on Amazon would be a good place to start. I want to do it, but I need to build up readership first. I just don't have that many people viewing my blog on a regular basis.

I have published ebooks, however, I did not create these ebooks from my blog posts. My ebooks are my original writings, never published before, not online or offline. I have never considered converting my blog posts into an ebook. However, in one of my online articles, I have shared tips on how to publish an ebook without writing it. In the article, gave tips on converting blog posts into an ebook.
Interestingly, I have never done this. Perhaps, I will never do this. If you publish an ebook from blog posts you are cheating your readers by giving them old contents.

I've never tried doing this before, but if you do choose to try this route you should definitely review your blog posts to make sure the things you wrote will actually be relevant and/or interesting to people who are looking for books. A lot of blogs are going to be outdated rather quickly, leaving people uninterested in reading it in a book form so long after the fact - and it's best not to end up wasting your time accidentally.

I have not tried to convert my blog to an ebook because I think it was not a good idea.
It is duplicated content from Google if you put your ebooks as pdf files and i think it will have some problems about SEO for your blog.

If Amazon allows you to turn your blog into an ebook there can't be anything illegal about it. I would assume if the blog is yours you own the rights to it, and can do with it as you wish. I think as long as you follow the rules there aren't going to be any problems converting your blog into a book.

I don't have a blog now to do that and don't a plan as to having a blog content turned to e-book. I can attest to Amazon kdp publishing though. It is lucrative and increasing in market and customer base. Get to it asap.

I've seen programming books that are for sale in their PDF or ebook format but with the same content that are freely available in the author's website or in HTML format. I'm not sure I'll want to buy an ebook that I can read for free. I do think that a compilation of your blog can be a good promotional freebie if you're selling another book. This will add value to the new ebook and make it more attractive to potential buyers.

I have not tried this yet and not sure I would, But I have been thinking about converting it into an app. As I know a few people who have got more out of their website by converting into an app for phones and tablets uses.

How does one would go down that route of turning a blog into an app?

Would it be more like a mobile version of the blog? Genuinely curious here as I never heard of something like this before.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I never heard of converting your blog into an app but that sounds like an interesting idea. I am not sure that all blogs would be suitable to go into an app format though. I mean the blog for the most part, unless it is a story would have to be instructive to others, and I am not sure that all of them would be.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

airfightermax
Right? I mean if it's a blog that is updated regular you would have a hard time keeping that application on the hook, eventually you'll drop support for the app if can't sustain it on the market.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I guess if your blog is some kind of story or interactive in some kind of way, it could possibly be an app but not sure most blogs would be conducive to that app. It is just one of the things that might be a possibility though. If anyone has done this I would be interesting in hearing about it.

I haven't tried that before, but I was actually contemplating of doing the same thing back then. The idea for my blog is like a daily life journal anyways, so I thought I might as well turn it into an ebook in that case. Eventually, I just figured I should continue with it as a blog because not all people like to read ebooks, but a lot of people don't mind reading blogs/articles.

This is an interesting idea worth acknowledgement and effort to turn
it into reality though I have never ventured into this area. One can
use Google Docs and Microsoft Word. Currently,I don't
have lengthy blogs from which I can choose the best content to create
an e -book but I will be taking this route nonetheless.

I have a lifestyle blog. I'm an amateur writer and I have never tried it before. To be honest, I wasn't even aware it was posible. Thank you for the tip! It's a great option for me, since I'm right now outlining my first book. Nowadays it's very common the selfpublication... so I definitely will think about converting my blog into ebooks. Thank you very much.

Yes, I think it is an easy way to write an ebook and hopefully get some revenue from it. I mean presumably your blog has some followers anyway, that might be a good initial target audience for your ebook, and then word of mouth will hopefully get you some other customers,,if the reviews are good, more people will read it of course.

I haven't heard of this, but I guess it would have to be high quality content to actually succeed as a book. It's hard to run an active, popular blog itself - making it an e-book probably requires even more investment.

Never heard about this until now, but apparently there are converters for this online.
Looks like a good option when you want to share/store all your blog information, so if you have a blog and have posted thousands of articles, you can change them for many ebooks, that's really interesting. The best part of it, is that you can get a profit, because you can sell them online, like on chapters. Good idea for sure.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don't think it takes much of an investment. I think both Amazon and Smashwords have publishing tools, where you can do it for free, although I am not certain of this. It is a potentially a good way to make some money.

Wow! This is my first time of hearing about converting a blog to ebooks. I am very much interested in this subject.
What are the requirements? Is it a tedious process? and How do I go about the process?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I think the best thing to do is to read the other responses to this question. It certainly can be done, but in order to make money you have to promote the book, and also of course have quality content so people want to read it. I don't think it needs to be long or tedious.

I've heard of this strategy as a way to increase the types of content on your site, but I have no experience with it. I would also like more information, as I think this is an interesting idea.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kgord
I think you could use some of the publishing sites discussed on this site, and start the process. I mean it may not be for everyone. If your blog doesn't have followers right now it might be a difficult thing to get anyone to read your ebook, but you could always start a fan page and get followers that way. It is one of the ways you can get others interested in your book.

Given the idea of what to do with my valuable posts on my blog.Never thought about it this way. This is another way of raking in extra bucks. Will try this with my recipe blog if I can't find a ready-made buyer.I have been thinking of how to actually monetize those good post.

This is another way of earning from your blogs. Although it depends on the niche of the blog, making it into an e-book will be just like compiling the published blogs and giving it an attractive theme to be a legitimate e-book. Maybe when I will have my own blog, that intention to have an e-book on my niche will be in the main consideration when the blog becomes popular. Come to think of it, if your blog has thousands of regular readers then you already have a prospective readership for your e-book.
