Is Online Research a good freelance job?

I've been thinking of doing market research online for companies and websites as a side job, but I've heard a lot of negative reviews from people who've gone down this path. They say companies tend to exploit researchers in the same way they take advantage of content writers. In other words, companies can opt to reject work and not pay a single dime for everything you've done so far. Any comments on this?

Interesting. I have only heard good things about doing online research as a freelance job. However, there are negatives with anything just about. For example, some freelance jobs don't pay enough, some don't have enough available work. I'd say that yes, you may run into some negatives, but if you do some reading up on the job, you can probably find ways to avoid the negative.

Online research is one of the best freelancing work in this world. Large number of web research or online research work is very much suitable for large amount of balance and large amount of people work also. Any online job can be great if you enjoy what you're doing, if you enjoy researching then the job will be perfect for you, just make sure that you love what you're doing so you can do it for as long as possible and maximize your profits

I think we should also factor in the pay. If you are enjoying what you are doing but you pay rate is abysmal for the amount of work you do, I doubt it's a good job at all.

I think we should find the balance between how much we enjoy it and how much we earn with it.

You really nailed it with this content--my grandfather once said that a "job" is something you agree to do for a certain amount of time, to put up with crap for a certain amount of time, actually, for a certain amount of pay--he then said, though, that a career is something you would do for free, because you enjoy it, but just don't tell anyone that, because you should never do anything you are good at for free.

If you really want to try doing it, I say go for it and do it. But as said earlier here in a reply, you should factor in the pay they are offering you. Don't settle for something when you know it's an below average pay for a researcher.

Look for the job where you are having fun, with a reasonable pay rate.

You need to highlight that a million times. Some so many naive people go on the Internet every day and sign up for scam jobs. Those same individuals complain about said job but don't realize freelancing is not a fairytale. You need to do research about who you're working with and the working conditions. Approach this like a real job. For all intended purposes, it is a real job. If you go to your computer screen every morning with the same attitude you would have as a retail worker; you will be more successful. You don't want to end up doing a job with a lot of work and low payout if you don't have to settle for it. Also, make sure you have desirable skills too.

That is a good point. Reasonable pay has to be there. If one can't get the reasonable pay then it'd be harder to continue. Most of the data entry and the research jobs don't pay much. But it can be told that some of the skills are not much earning in that case. You can see that research jobs are worth aiming for some spare cash.

whether any job is good or bad depends on a number of factors. For instance:
how many hours do you have to work
how much do you get paid
is it easy to do or is it a hard work
do you have skills to do
A job is bad for other people does not mean it will also be bad for you. Many people are earning fairly well on Fiverr, however, I have not made a dime, does this mean Fiverr is bad for me?
However, before you choose to join a program/company, check whether it is legit of not. There is lot of scamming going around.

It just means you are not suited for the job or company. Freelance comes with a lot of benefits and at the same time, risks. You are more subject to scamming and unemployment. You need to make sure you like what you're doing as well as getting appropriate pay for your work. Online research, in particular, is best for people with high emotional intelligence because they can sense the newest trends and target the best markets, increasing their revenue and attracting potential clients.

What are we doing here or at any of the other forums or writing sites? We are searching everywhere to respond appropriately, more when we are given a project to write on - for example iwriter. We compile information based on our search and create an article and post it.
And for this search we are paid. Having said that it would no doubt be ideal if large companies outsource their researching jobs to online researchers by giving them a job on a permanent basis.
The issue however is are there such companies or individuals who would do that?

I think it can be good enough for one or two jobs. But it can't be replacing the real work. And you won't find regular clients who need such work. So you may have to find something that you can offer to the people around. I think data entry and scraping works are lot more reliable. So you should consider some of such jobs. There is a huge demand for that type of the quality work. I think that should work out with your long term future approach.

The problem here is with every other freelancing jobs, that is it has been over populated with people who under deliver due to the fact they are not skilled enough in the field they entered but do these jobs to make ends meet. But another thing i dont like is the fact that most people who higher freelancer wants to pay next to nothing for a world class delivery. Which is simple not posible.

Another reason this is so is because the market isnt regulated hence people drop price drastically just to get jobs which turn out to hurt every seller in the long run. If you need quality you should be able to pay a good sum.

Most projects that I do at the content mill require intensive online research but this is never reflected in the pay rate which is based on a flat rate times the number of words required by the client. Abuse? Probably, but that's just life at a content mill. From time to time, I'd get repeat projects which becomes easier to do because I already have the materials.

As for making a freelance work out of the research itself, I think this is feasible if you can put some safeguards like asking for a deposit before starting on the job. However, I think you'll need some reputation or credibility to be able to ask for terms like that. The content mill, for example, requires full payment from clients as soon as the client makes an order. A client may not be too willing to do that if they're dealing with independent and relatively unknown writer or researcher. You may also try to convince the client to make partial payments based on the progress of the project.

For most part, I've heard some good reviews regarding those research websites. That is if you look at valuable sources like workersonboard or pennyhoarder. You can also do your own due diligence by checking scam review sites and generally searching on the web. As it is, any potential business that makes money online will have it's challenges as there are those who will try to trick people into connecting so as to gain from them in one way or the other. The web is just like your not so typical community. You have the schools, the churches, the police stations and the criminal hotspots! Arm yourself with information and due diligence so that you can be safe.

I've tried to do it in Askwonder but I've never really finished the exam to get in. I'm not even sure if I still can, but I had it 90% completed. I stopped because I realized that it might be a lot more tedious than I thought. I've seen a lot of people complain about rejected research that they've spent hours trying to do. I barely have enough motivation for writing as it is, I don't think I have the patience for that lmao.

Yes, there are bad eggs everywhere. Trust me even lawn mowers face clients absconding through the backdoor after the job is done. When you've gotten a client, get a legal project agreement drafted. Let each of you sign it before you start work, yes even digitally. And I'll suggest you divide the work into chunks you can submit to get review not turning the whole project to get rejected. Let your client know your progress and get his review at every milestone before proceeding. Good luck.

Online Research is a basic way to earn money as a freelancer. I can say that if your a beginner or newbie its good way to start. One thing is that online researcher earns small amount of money compared to other services. All I can suggest is don't limit yourself to something you can improve more. You can do some skills like a graphic editor or virtual assisting. You can do training while doing the job just make sure you can manage your time not disappointing your clients.

Online research work is way different from content writing freelance job and companies or individuals can rarely exploit researchers. The reason for this is simple the research do the work and compile the result. Such research have the liberty to determine the cost of the service . Of course companies can decide to reject it but the good news is that the market of research work is not as saturated as many other online freelance jobs. The only thing is that the researcher have to make the work excellent and genuine.

Thanks for your query. It is looking few interesting to me. I do not have much idea about online research job. And I do know know how big are as freelance job for online research for any company. But, locally It has demand. I think before start this type of job, you must to research how demand it on online market place. As my suggestion a lot of categorical job has online and people doing as freelancing. If you opt to do it, you can try with. Success has each and every sector. If you do good for company or client, they should review good either other things. Do your best what you think best as self believer

Online researching jobs is good when combined with other lots of freelancing jobs and yes depending to the platform you use some researchers do not get paid after their works get rejected by clients however we all do research of what we write to make sure we are right and Sometimes for references, And it often turns out good so I suggest that before investing your time on any forum or platform make a deep research and see people's reviews if they pay or not.

I think everything has its pros and cons.Making research for companies for a fee is good if you had gone into a good negotiation with the companies and you're able to deliver good quality jobs and on the set deadline.But on the other hand, pray you get paid after all the work because alot of companies renege on the agreed fees after working citing lack of funds or substandard jobs as the reason.

I have done some offline research works and have some experience in this field. I will love to so the same thing online. I recently came across a site stating that if you work as a researcher with them then you may earn $2000 monthly. This is a decent amount. However I didn't join there as I couldn't confirm the legitimacy of the site. If I get an online research work from a trusted company then I will grab this opportunity.

I would like the opportunity to do online research. I think that many people would do this. I have applied to some online companies for this but I was never offered a position. I think some of the opportunities are bogus to be honest. If you can get one it is great.

All that glitters is not gold.Online research looks easy but it is not. I've seen some tasks given for this and they are not simple. It requires you to go into a lot of detail. The research often takes up to 8 hours a day and yet the wage is very little. You are not paid per hour but per assignment.If someone is paying you USD 5 to give them all the information about a certain topic on the internet, is that kind of work and wage, worth your time? You can spend the whole day researching your topic, then the client rejects your work. Is that fair?

If my memory serves me right I think I had an offer of a research job which is not really difficult. But the problem lies in the acceptance of the data that you will submit because the client has the right to approve or reject it. If you had spent a fairly good amount of time in the research and your work will just be rejected then that is a waste of time. Worse, you do not know if the client had already copied what you submitted before rejecting your research data.
