Facebook has now 2 billion users

It was unexpected that Facebook will be the giant websitethat it is now. I remember the days of Friendster, a very promising social
media site. But suddenly, Facebook came into the picture and it was swift with
its claim of superiority. It didn’t take long for Friendster to raise the white
flag of surrender by closing shop. With the milestone of 2 billion users, it is
expected that Facebook will remain the number 1 social media site for a long
time. And probably Mark Zuckerberg will be the richest man in the world soon.
By the way, do you think that Zuckerberg is now richer than Bill Gates of
Microsoft?

I think Facebook will still grow much more. This is only a matter of time. I also believe that this social network in particular has space for everyone to bet on marketing strategies. I think Facebook is a place where innovation is going to be the difference every day.

It will grow even more. Imagine the 2 billion users. Wew. Soon it will be implementing other features about business and marketing. We are even seeing it now, from pages to groups who put prices on their items.

I also think that Facebook will be even bigger. It's because they keep adapting to the current trends, they are never left out. Facebook is the only social media site that I regularly use, and most people in my country do so as well. It's very rare these days where you will find someone without a Facebook account in my country. I honestly can't wait for their VR chat feature.

At its early stages, I thought Facebook would be gone in a few years like Myspace. But apparently people still enjoy it and with so many new features I doubt it's going anywhere. They're even using it to get to know someone for a job. However, I do think it's because more people, older even, are joining. This has helped increase the number of users significantly.

I don't think Facebook was considered to be a failure when it started out. In its early days it was a way of connecting people from Harvard and people were already praising the idea. Since everyone at that university liked it it was a matter of pushing it out worldwide, the business model was already tested and verified.

I didn't expect Facebook to grow so huge and come so far too. I still remember when my ex-colleagues were poking each other, it took me some time to decide to join this site. I think if Facebook is not blocked in China, it would have got much more users.

Facebook really has gone stronger over the years. It shows how determination and the desire for success can get one to. Nothing is impossible for the man who believes. Impossibility only exists in our minds.

A few more years and Mark will be topping that chart. Although, I don't see Bill Gate falling from the first three position.

I personally think that the next richest person in the world will be Elon Musk with his rumoured upcoming inventions. However, back on topic. It really is quite crazy how much Facebook has grown. However, this raises the question "are these current active accounts or just the total sum of registered users"?

I think Facebook is dead, and I'm not the only one who thinks that. 10 years from now it will probably be like Myspace is today. Sure Myspace is still around, but nobody uses it anymore, despite it once being a common social network. More and more I hear people (typically young people) saying they've deactivated their Facebook, or outright deleted it. I deleted mine years ago.

It doesn't surprise me that the Facebook user base continues to increase, despite this. Nowadays everyones' parents and grandparents are getting accounts, because the Facebook wave has finally reached them.

I personally think it would go on for longer than expected. I still rely on Facebook for personal connections with my family and friends as I think it's really convenient considering how much they offer in the aspect of social interaction. I do think that the user base only reached 2 million because there are a lot of inactive accounts that aren't deactivated and there are a lot of fake accounts too.

I can't believe it's been ten years. Amazing! I remember when Myspace used to be much more popular along with AIM. I really miss those days. Facebook was a life changer for social media. Regarding net worth, I feel like BG and MZ are equal. You can upload any .doc document on almost any website on the Web, including Facebook. Facebook may have taken over the social media sphere, but they still have to compete with blogging and video sharing sites like Youtube. In the computer world, BG is still on top. It's just that their niches naturally overlap.

I think facebook in terms of the activity has crossed google. And the second being the YouTube. You can see that this means facebook has been turning out to be more valuable. People are not going to even log out of their system. That means it would be big one data hub for now. So we have to see it with that potential.

Not really surprising. Facebook has been around for quite some time now. It's good features has helped a lot of it's users. I am actually shocked that it's only 2 billion (which I think is really huge number already). I was thinking maybe about 3 to 4 billion? Facebook has now 2 billion users

2 Billion users per month is one of the highest users for any online platform. And it also gives marketers a huge opportunity as these many users could bring good business for them.

I heard this news on Facebook that they are now more than 2 billion users and the world's most populated platform. But still, there are over 400 million fake profiles surrounding on Facebook. It helped a lot of newbies internet marketer like me to grow my business online through Facebook ad campaigns. I hope it will grow more in future and connects more people all around the world.

Damn, I never saw this coming when they initially launched. It is crazy how into social media platforms people have gotten in the last couple of years... from sharing your status updates, to constantly uploading new pictures and so on.

Twenty years ago, the only pictures we took were at the birthday parties, haha Facebook has now 2 billion users

This is certainly a very honorable achievement. Regardless of the fake profiles, the number is still very large.

For me personally, Facebook isn't anywhere as interesting as it used to be but hey, I bet it keeps on growing.

Nowadays many people use Facebook and some even use it as a platform to conduct their businesses. I bought many items from specific sellers on Facebook. I think that the number of people joining Facebook will definitely increase. I have met so many people through Facebook and made new friends too. I have also subscribed to various news channel on Facebook and this is where I get my daily news. I don't really read newspapers nowadays.

It's incredible how much of a standard thing Facebook has become. It's estimated that about 3.2 billion people in the world have internet access, and 2 billion of those people are living in the developed world. So basically, just about every single person living in the developed world has a Facebook account. I have no doubt that in time that number will stretch to 3 billion and everyone online will be on Facebook.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. I can't say I have an opinion one way or the other. Is it amazing that so many people are using a single platform? Yes. It's revolutionary in fact.

Yes, I am sure that Mark Zuckerberg is the richest man now. He is lucky that Facebook is still alive after all the trials and errors. It had been a long way and it did proved that Facebook is still the most popular media site compare to others.

Hi, I was one of the first users that registered in Facebook. I found an ad on a site where Facebook was posted as an earning online site so I have joined and when I saw that I cannot earn dollars with it, I left but I haven't deleted my account. I didn't expect to see that Facebook will reach 2 billion users, but as I can see how things are working for Facebook I think that it may have big chances to grow even more!

I never joined Friendster before. I went from having MySpace to Facebook. It is 2 billion users, but we most likely be larger very soon unless another social media network can top them which I don't think so.

Wow... Thats good... Maybe Mr Facebook owner can now focus cleaning up his site. Kids can access Facebook and there are indecent accounts available there. From posting titillating photos upto sharing sex videos.

I think they have actually crossed that mark, facebook took everybody by storm with their explosion which says alot about offering people what they really new and see your business grow. But for mark to be richer than bill gates that looks like an imposibility as bill gate has be said to become the first trillonaire with the way his company is growing.

Facebook will even grow more than that. The giant of social media Facebook, it is now easier to communicate with my family and friends around the world. Thanks to Facebook. Mark to be richer than Bill? It's possible, only I will tell.

The first time I joined facebook I never imagines it would be this popular! I remember by the time it was a little bit boring because most of my friends didn't want to join. I think facebook has changed so much and even the way we use it has changed too.

2 billions and apparently still growing up. It all started like a place to check on your friends, and post some nice pictures and messages, and now is huge social way of communication, marketing, and help. In my case, it is not my favorite one, it takes a lot of time to download on my pc or phone, and my friends have turn it into a therapy for their sorrows. It looks like is going to stay here for a while still, so big chances for those who take it seriously and work with it.

Facebook will continue to grow. It has become a part of today's society. It's used for both personal and business matters. As the numbers grow, hopefully Facebook will come with more revolutionary features to make the social media experience an excellent one for all of us.

One thing that I've enjoyed about Facebook is the ease with which everyone around the globe can connect and chat with friends and family members on the network. So, it is no surprise to me to discover they just hit the 2 billion users.

Facebook has 2 billion monthly active users which it defined as unique log-ins through the the site itself in a period of 30 days. This is impressive and I believe that this will continue to grow as Facebook continues to make internet accessible to more people through its initiatives. Bill Gates is still the richest man in the world as of August 2017 while Zuckerberg is at the 5th position, a rank behind Warren Buffet.

Zuckerberg has matured as a CEO and his mission + business strategy has worked for him. He expects growth to slowdown this year as they have maximized their ads potential in News Feed but this will not stop the company from monetizing other company assets/technology such as Messenger, Whatapp. and videos. Facebook is killing off competitors and potential competitors by acquiring them. They have actually acquired all patents owed by Friendster, its former rival.
