Why eCommerce websites have been increasing over the last 5 years.

Over the last 5 years we've noticed a lot of websites starting to focus on eCommerce.  These could be well established businesses changing their systems over to focus on online sales or people just starting out selling their own crafts and using something like Shopify or WooCommerce to get their websites up and running.  It's not exactly a newer trend when it comes to online marketing, but there are a lot more eCommerce websites popping up now than there were before.  Maybe people are catching the online marketing bug because they heard Joe Bob from down the street now makes $3,000 a day selling candles that he doesn't own?  Maybe it's because more people just want to generate a second source of income because job security is a joke in the US right now.  Who knows!

What I do know is that there are many benefits to getting into eCommerce.  There are plenty more advantages to selling your products online rather than selling them at trade shows, fairs or to your family when you see them lol.  You are expanding into the world and selling to anyone that has interest in your product.  How many people do you think you could sell your products to by just walking down the highway?  Probably none at all because no one wants to see your products.  What if you set up a website and put your products in front of a digital highway that had 1,000x more traffic and it was always rush hour?  Not to mention that you could knit pick and show your items to a specific group of them as they came by?  Well that's what eCommerce and online marketing to and I think people are beginning to catch on, this is why we are seeing a surge in eCommerce websites over the last 5 years.  Well, it's also because of Joe Bob lol.

Some of the top benefits of eCommerce are as follows:

  • Your products are always available for purchase.
  • If your website is set up properly, it sells for you.
  • You're not limited to what you can sell.  Drop shipping is an option.
  • You can deliver your products internationally.
  • You have access to a bigger pool of buyers.

People are always chasing their dreams of becoming rich, and with all the stories you see on Facebook or online, you probably want to be like those people who claim to make $450,000 a month with very little effort.  Well it's a lot of work, so don't assume you're going to get out of anything and just sit on a beach lol.  Getting to the point of making that amount of money each month isn't easy, and those people never tell you how much they're investing into their advertising in order to pull in those sales, right?  Some people claim that they're generating $450,000 a month just from Facebook ads and I only assume they're putting in $45,000 to $60,000 a month to do that.  So if you think about it, if you're doing everything right, you can turn $45 into roughly $45 and into $450.  But how many bills do you have to pay each month and can you actually afford to not pay yourself?

You will most definitely need to bootstrap your profits when it comes to working in eCommerce if you want to be one of those success stories.  Those people have been working online for years and know every little piece of information about their systems because they've been tweaking them for years.  You're not going to make that amount of money just starting off unless you can invest a massive amount into advertising and also if you have the formula for success.

These people selling their own formulas for success are another reason that eCommerce has been booming over the last 5 years.  They're pulling in newbies and setting them up with websites.  Depending on the Guru who is doing this, they could be setting up 10 websites a month or 10,000.  They're not really creating any competition in the marketplace because the majority of these new websites will fail miserably since the Guru will never give them the full plan on how to make money, I guarantee it lol.

In Conclusion:
I love eCommerce and I consider myself a rookie in the field.  I primarily focus on drop shipping because I don't have my physical product launched just yet.  But when I do, I will be adding it to my websites and turning a better profit with each sale.  As for everyone else, I'm not 100% sure if they're getting pulled into eCommerce due to all they hype that is around it or if they just want to build a second income.  Without crunching 5 years of data that I don't have access to, no one will never know the true reason and we can only speculate Why eCommerce websites have been increasing over the last 5 years.

This is encouraging! I hope eCommerce websites will continue to grow as I am planning to start a eCommerce website myself as a stay-at-home mom, I hope it's never too late to start.

I haven't really given it a thought myself, but it does sound promising as long as you know how to execute it properly. And it is great because of what Razzy said, you can easily target global market, not just local, which is why this is great.

Moreover, I can work on it while I am staying at home, without needing to work outside. This is the biggest attractive part of eCommerce to me. I suppose this is also one of the reasons many stay-at-home moms started eCommerce business.

That is actually an really interesting point. I didn't really give it that much thought, but it is true, a lot of moms have indeed starter such businesses.

That is a smart move. I will make sure my future wife does the same Why eCommerce websites have been increasing over the last 5 years.

If you have website, you can monetize with ad networks and affiliate networks. However, earning through these networks is really difficult. However, ecommerce store has better chances of earning. In order to earn from normal website, you need the traffic to convert. If you have 1000 hits and none of the visitors clicks your ad, there will be no earning. However, people visit ecommerce site to buy things and there is better chance of traffic conversion.

Obviously, business is shifting to the online world. It is noticeable that almost all big businesses have their website now. From newspaper networks to banks. Online banking is now the better approach because of convenience despite the risk of phishing and online scams. And most start ups are now online instead of the usual offline business. Definitely, we are in a digital era that everything is in the internet.
