How to Build Insanely Powerful Backlinks from Tumblr

Hello all. Yesterday I posted a guide on How to Build Insanely Powerful High PR High Authority Web 2.0 Social Media Backlinks. And the process of doing so is as insanely simple as the backlinks you can create are. It's really just a simple matter of interacting with each site so that you build internal links to your profile from that site.

That way, you're not building an orphan page that has no internal links pointing to it. Because Google looks at the internal links pointing to a page and if it doesn't have many of them, it doesn't give that page or profile much value in the SERPs!

Well here today I'm going to show you EXACTLY what I mean by building internal links to your page or profile and I'm going to use Tumblr as an example to show you.

Tumblr is a very high authority, Web 2.0, social media blogging site and links from Tumblr can be very powerful to have on their own. But more than that, you can use Tumblr in such a way as to build very powerful backlinks to your site.

Creating Powerful Tumblr Backlinks

Okay so first things first. Let's say you've created a brand new Tumblr account. You've created the account, you've added a banner and avatar, you've posted some content to it and created some backlinks to your site from it from those posts. Great! But now there's some other things you can do, to build internal links from Tumblr to your profile.

What you'll need to do now is visit your Tumblr Dashboard, where you will see the stream. Anything anyone posts to Tumblr that are categorized as something you've expressed an interest in when creating your Tumblr account will show here.

Then just start liking peoples stuff. Like it by clicking on the heart icon. By doing this, that will show up on their post under the people that liked it. And that will include a link to YOUR profile.

For instance, (and for the purpose of this guide, I'm using one of my old Tumblr accounts: 4K Wall that I haven't done much with. Now on the homepage in the Dashboard was this one photo image about Samantha Payne’s startup Open Bionics allows anyone in the world to download and 3D print their own bionic limbs. Tilly was just 15 months old when she had to have her hand amputated after contracting meningitis septicaemia. Now, with a bionic arm...Samantha Payne’s startup Open Bionics allows anyone in the world to download and 3D print their own bionic limbs.

So I "liked" it.

Now when I visit that actual blog post on Tumblr, what can I see? It says right under it that I liked it! It shows the people that liked that post and links to their profile!

Here is the actual Tumblr blog post itself.

Look on that and you can see a link to my profile
How to Build Insanely Powerful Backlinks from Tumblr
Yes all of those links are clickable (hyperlinked) and link directly back to my profile! Now all I really need to do now, is just keep liking and liking and liking stuff. Like like there's no tomorrow! Like the life out of people's posts on Tumblr. The more liking I do, the more internal links I'll be creating back to my Tumblr profile and the more powerful I'll be making it along the way with each new post like that I do.

It's worth mentioning here that not everything you like will show up on that post. For most parts, it depends what theme they're using as not all Tumblr themes show the post likes under the post.

Also another thing to mention is, some people have their own custom domain name. So they're not using http://somename.tumblr.com/ but are using their own domain name like somename.com instead. This means that you'll be getting external links from other websites to your profile as well!

Follow For More Internal Links

Now then another thing you can do on Tumblr to get links to your profile is to follow people! When you follow someone, your name will show up on their profile under their "Followers" list section. That means by just following people, you can build tons of internal links from Tumblr back to your profile. If ever there was a reason to follow tons of people on Tumblr, this is the main reason to do that! How to Build Insanely Powerful Backlinks from Tumblr

Sometimes (again it depends on the theme they are using) these followers (yourself) will show up directly on that persons Tumblr profile. That includes a direct do follow link to YOUR profile from theirs.

So think about it, the more stuff you like, and the more people that you follow on Tumblr, the more internal links you'll be creating to your profile, the more and more powerful you'll make that Tumblr profile in the eyes of Google!

Imagine if you done this every day, for weeks and weeks on end, for months and months and even years.. You'd be able to make INSANELY powerful backlinks from Tumblr in the eyes of Google who wouldn't be able to resist ranking it high!

So that my friends, is how you build insanely powerful Tumblr backlinks! And of course, this can be applied to other social media sites as well. Even forums. You just have to find a way to go about doing it on each site.

In the next tutorial, I'm going to show you how to build insanely powerful, related forum backlinks to your site. These can be twice as powerful because they are from related sites (forums) in YOUR niche and I'm going to show you how to do that!

As always, thanks for reading, if you like this and find it useful give it a thumbs up.

And do follow me on here for more great rank and bank making tips and tricks!

Cheers!

Mike.

I need to remember this when I launch my blog, or when I create it.. But nowadays I have literally 40 different bookmarks to different CD's on seocheckout Community Discussion.. And that's just the bookmarks I have from seocheckout.

I'll need to sort things out as soon as possible, so it won't be such a huge mess when I finally decide to start!

I think I have 7 or 8 different bookmarks for topics you've made now Mike.. I guess you're awesome. How to Build Insanely Powerful Backlinks from Tumblr

All this makes sense to me and nice tutorial you shared here. I actually almost forgot about Tumblr, but having some account there for few years...
However i am just curious if the same thing would apply to Twitter? Would you know about it?

Why not just set up an imacros script or code a javascript bot to automatically like posts? This is what I would probably do. I'll set it up at different intervals, and like different content within the same niche as the website I am trying to gain backlinks for. I am all about running bots to do my dirty work for me. I consider this type of work, dirty. Why is it dirty? Because I do not feel it's genuine to automatically like content that I probably wouldn't like with a bot, but whatever! If I can bot it, why not? This seems to be the question I ask myself all the time, how do I bot this?

With twitter, it's easy to retweet tweets, and I gain a lot of impressions from doing so, so you know i am botting the hell out of twitter. ;)

Ok Mike, so this is the explanation that goes with the previous post you made where I got all confused?

And I am assuming that this can apply to any social network? So if I head on out on Facebook and start liking and following loads of pages and posts with my mommy blog page this will create backlinks to my Facebook page and in turn to all the links that I share on my page?

And I can then do this with all my social media profiles too?

Hmmm so maybe just throwing out all my content to my social media accounts with software is not the only way to be doing this. I have gotten so lazy this last year with my social media accounts LOL. I know I need to spend some time interacting but I have always just run out of time.

I'll get started with Facebook then.

Excellent discussion. Have been an active Tumblr user for years. I have even weathered the "angst" of the platform changing ownership. I have tried to search for Tumblr alternatives. David Karp, the original Tumblr creator, created a one-of-a-kind social network. What gets me is that even this platform is really easy to use (and I am the queen of non-geek simpletons), people still need tutorials like this one to figure it out.

Maybe you mentioned this in another tutorial but the backlink process is even more insane when you go into your dashboard and link to your Tumblr to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Each time you post to Tumblr, you can automatically share to your social media accounts.

Would you agree that adds an extra layer of "insane power" to the building backlinks process? Maybe I'm not using the right words, but I think I've got the right idea. Yes? No?

* * Revisiting because I also wanted to add that there is a Tumblr blogger who has a (closed) Facebook Group called HighTeaNetwork. The blog and group have the same name. They help you promote your blog by following, reblogging and liking posts.

Great tips Mike.
I have a tumblr account. I created this account many years ago when I did not know what I could do on tumblr. Recently, I recovered my tumblr account and now I am thinking to use tumblr to drive traffic and backlinks.

You are right with the advice to “like” the posts that you think is interesting. When in social media, the best approach is to establish your presence by interacting with the posts. It is either you make your own posts or react on the posts of people. That’s the style of some webmasters I know, they make people know who they are by clicking the like on the posts or making comments so that the user will get to know him.
