    Can you give an opinion and back it with facts?

    i love voicing my opinion and being heard, being able to speak my mind really helps me through out the day. Sometimes when I'm in a heated debate I tend to bring facts in to help better explain why I think I'm right, I know for writers having facts and evidence to back opinions is key but some people don't have the same views on it. You are never right or wrong with an opinion they say, but when you take time to point out facts you determine what's right and wrong in the process, so does backing your Point of view with facts benefit Your writing when you are taking a side or is it harder to explain points do to how details are explained ?

    Well to answer your question it depends on the type of opinion. It is not something that you can answer precisely as it all depends on the subject matter and what you are writing about. Sometimes you a re able to substantiate what you are saying with facts. It is helpful to look up statistics as well as any articles on the same topic that will be quoting research or studies or what other people said on the subject. If this is possible you are improving the level and the credibility of your article. However it is not always possible as you may be writing on something generic or light for instance.

    I avoid making opinions on critical matters that harbor on legality because I might be exposing myself to risks of a lawsuit. However, in times that I couldn’t avoid it, yeah, I try to present facts or the source from where I got it. There was a forum where I had posted my opinion on something about technology. I was surprised that someone replied with the word “source?” which made me cringe. It was a forum and clearly I was expressing my opinion so why ask me for the source of my opinion? No, I did not respond because I felt it insulting.
