What do you do when you get stuck with something?

Learning how to work online has been a long and often bumpy road for me. I absolutely love learning how to do new things and implement them.... but only when it goes ok!

I am sort of joking here, but mostly not.
Learning most things is easy for me so I love it. I love learning something new, having a light bulb moment, going to my website and implementing it and sitting back to watch the results. There is just nothing better than this.

The other side of this coin is that I do almost everything for myself. Yes I outsource a few things but the majority I do myself.

There are certain things I don't catch on easily and I try and implement these things and it just doesn't happen for me.

I keep asking for advice and I keep trying and it just does not work. With these things I literally frustrate myself to tears.

One example of this is hosting a video on my own site. Yes I have watched all the videos about Filezilla and my ftp thing but I just don't get it and I have tried so many times.

Fortunately hosting a video on my own website was something I was thinking of doing and I had very specific reasons for maybe wanting to do it, but decided not to. Mostly because I couldn't do it LOL.

But this post is not about hosting a video on Wordpress. It is about what do YOU do when you get so stuck?

That's the problem on working alone on your own website. You need to learn everything and you need to implement everything you learn by yourself. I know for experience it can evolve into something very frustrating.

Try to disconnect every once in a while, maybe try and think outside the box or see the problem from a different angle. Keep in mind you can't do it all by yourself, not as you wish things should be done...so hire someone to fix and add everything you can't.

Find a good coder you can trust. Or better yet, if you have any, ask a friend to help you out! At least that's what I'm doing when I get into a problem that I want to pull my hair out.

Oh well I am fortunate in that my sister is a web developer. She is more on the designer side but she has loads of people she works with in the industry and a friend of ours is a brilliant coder so he has helped me every now and then. So it is not like I am always completely alone.

Cool, that's very cool! You're pretty lucky to have your sister! I pretty much had no one in this domain until I made some friends from previous and current work places.

Working online is very bumpy road for all of us, specially at beginning, but even after, because we are working in ever updating industry and have to be up to date with so many things, so we learn all the time.

Whenever i couldn't do something, i actually never give up. But i was searching day and night to solve my problem. Asking on different question / answer websites, forum etc. This community discussions is also good place to ask how to solve some problem in many niches. So i suggest you ask specific question, like "how to do this and that".

For hosting your own video on your WordPress website you didn't need to use FileZilla and upload it to your host that way! You can simply go to your WordPress administration panel > media > add new media, then upload your video. Same process as if you want to add new photo to your blog. However, i am not so sure it's best option to do, because it can slow down your post / page where you displaying your hosted video. Ofc depending on your hosting capabilities. Hosting it on YouTube or some other video hosting website is good idea to save your bandwidth and speed up your website browsing. I know there is sometime need to keep it private or hosted on own hosting, but it's just my two cents. So just try use WP admin option i mentioned ;)

OMG can it really be so simple to host a video on my blog, Anwebservies? LOL and you know what sometimes that is exactly how things come about for me.
I usually keep asking and keep trying until I come right. Sometimes when I am struggling with something for a while and I can't get it then I leave it for a while and very often the answer just lands in my lap. Like it did right now with your answer. I asked so many people and I did online searches... all of this pointed to the FileZilla option.

I will try your way, I may still have need of it. Not right now, I am waiting for something specific to happen before I can do that. Cryptic, yes I know! These videos I cant upload to Youtube. They have already been published there and I had to remove them... As soon as something happens I will be able to upload them again to Youtube or to my own website.

Not only in freelancing but also in other tasks, it is best to leave for a while what you are doing when you hit the wall. Take time to give your mind some rest by taking a short walk or to chat with people around. And when you cone back, you will have a clear mind and also have a recourse on how to go about it.

Getting stuck in somethings is imminent for the mere fact we are busy trying to do one thing or the other. Can remember when I was trying to put my blogs together got stuck several times.Sometimes I will rest but some I will ask people or Google. So when I get stuck the above can be done.

I always try to take some time off and relax with friends and family members when I get stuck on something. I know that it was all about lacking creativity, so I try to get it by freeing up thing in my mind.
