Is it good to start from nothing?

There is that phrase "started from the bottom" and with that being said its means to turn nothing into something . I have seen a few cases were people have literally built themselves up with no help or head starts, my question is could that be a really smart thing to do for someone who is new to freelance. I know before I got my self in to free lance work I was working at the same company for about 3 years and working free lance on the side basically working with training wheels making sure I was stable before taking everything into my own hands . I want to know for a beginner what are the best options, start off roughing it out or build yourself up with some kind of backing like a job or savings ?

I think starting at the bottom has a lot of advantages. I find that if I have to struggle and learn how to do things the hard way I understand things better, I am able to apply what I have learned because I am busy working with it.

In a lot of ways I think the people that have no help to start will find more success because they are most likely more hungry for it than someone that has been given a helping hand.

By starting from nothing is not bad idea for free lancer. By developing your business you also develop your self and your capabilities and getting experienced, constantly learning new tactics to survive on international market and so many different things regarding freelancing. So i am new starter i would probably do it all the same again, starting form bottom Is it good to start from nothing?

This is a good question and I think it depends. Of course, your life will be a lot easier if you have something to back you up like a job or savings but not everyone has that and they have created something successful. Some people may have no funds to start their business but they go and find investors and pitch their ideas to them. Therefore, it isn't essential that you have something to back you up because you can also find other people to do that. It does mean that you earn less profit because chances are you will need to split it out to the investors.

Overall, having funds to back yourself up gives you a big advantage but it isn't essential. I started with nothing and slowly build up my business. If you lack funds, you can always earn it by going small and then invest it back into your business to grow it. However, it can be hard at times because you need the profits for your expenses but it is definitely do-able if you spend less money and invest it back into your business.

I don't think there is a freelancer out there that didn't start for the very bottom. I mean that's pretty much how freelancing works, you gain some skills, offer some services and you gradually develop and start earning more.

Even if you have the right skills and the experience of offer direct high and freelance services, that doesn't mean you haven't start from the bottom, because acquiring those skills takes time and effort, you can't inherit freelance skills lol.

I started from the bottom and I must say that I have learnt so much over the weeks I have worked as a freelancer learning from so many articles and well as sharing my knowledge with the other people I have worked with over this period of time. So, there is nothing wrong starting from the scratch.

A lot of successful people we see around started from nothing and it will remain same with little or no resources.

Starting from the scratch has its
advantages especially learning about the pitfalls and trying to avoid them in the long run.

I have started mine with no resources but I believe I will build it into something very big because I'm working pretty hard towards it.

I know that successful businessmen are so proud to say that they started from nothing. But if you will check the facts, it cannot be so. There is a source of investment like they sold their car or even their home for the capital. And even now with an online business, it is not a good idea to start with nothing in your pocket. When the business grows, you will just borrow money and spend for the interest on the loans.

I understand the equation nothing from nothing leaves nothing. I also understand that when MusicMoguls asks the question he doesn't literally mean nothing. But if you have to sell your car or your CDs (my personal joke), the point is that you started from scratch. Nobody gave you anything to get started. You were on your own.

But whether you start with something or start with nothing, the point is your started. If you're blessed enough to have a grandma that gives you money to chase your dream (Spike Lee's grandmother gave him money to get started. It wasn't much but it was enough!) … JUST START!

Fact is … when you look at a successful person, if they didn't tell you they started with nothing you would not know it unless you happened to know them and know where the came from.

As an online freelancer working part time, I started working several years ago and only focused semi full-time a year ago. I started with no knowledge on how to earn online and over a period of 4 years I have gained the experience and knowledge needed to constantly earn a modest amount online. I can't say that the road that I've travelled was easy because it's not, but after 4 years I'm now reaping some of the rewards.
