Do you think it is worth spending more money to have a gaming mouse, rather than a normal one?

I would like to buy a mouse as a gift to my brother as I know that he has been complaining about his current one; he is a gamer, and he spends several hours a day playing World of Warcraft and other games. I do not have much experience at gaming, and since I wanted to buy him a mouse for his birthday I was thinking that most probably I need to buy him a gaming mouse, not a normal one. They cost quite a bit more, and I am not sure what I should consider to make a good buying decision. Any help please? Maybe there are some gamers out there who could give me some suggestions? Thanks!

I am not a gamer, but i know that gaming mouse is equipped with different and improved performances for playing games. So it definitely worth buying for those people who spend a lot of time playing games on computer or over the internet. I have seen also many videos recorded by gamers on YouTube where i noted that they are equipped with some really good accessories and even upgraded computers with better video cards, more RAM memory and faster processors etc... I know when you are addicted to something like the gamers are addicted to playing games, it means a lot to them to have top accessories.

Oh wow this is such a nice discussion. I have been wondering what to buy one of the men in my family for his birthday that is coming up... he is a big time gamer and a gaming mouse would be awesome. I don't think he has any special gaming equipment at all.

So MIke you say that the Microsoft's Intellimouse 3.0 is the most popular one? I will check it out online. Is there any other cool gaming equipment you can recommend I can buy for him?

Don't care much about gaming mouse, but I do care about productivity and practicality. I have my Logitech mouse for 4-5 years now and I really love it. Seen the exact same model still available on the market, if the current one ever stops working (probably not, this thing is immortal) I'll buy an identical one.

Hi EliteWriter thanks for your query. I am not used to play game nowadays. I was gamer while I was a student. I just purchased a single mouse for game purpose at that time. I do not realized specifically what is main different between gaming mouse and normal mouse. I played game by normal mouse too and I could perform well by both different mouse. So, for me as usual for both mouse featured. Oh! I forgot to say, I think gaming mouse has tiny different by extra controlling key. Like beside scrolling key, in left and right side has extra key.

As your said you want to buy for gift purpose and he is gamer, so better is, if you gift him gaming mouse.

From a personal aspect you say you are not a gamer there for I doubt a gaming mouse would be for you but since this is a gift for a game why not go for it, especially if he's playing world of Warcraft from my knowledge that is a third person game which involves a lot of free world movement with that being said it would be best for to grab a mouse that has really good reaction time some thing that won't delay your brothers movements a gaming mouse is really your best option for this gift honestly it's preferred

Anything SteelSeries related are dope! - I just love all their products. As Mike said above: "It's all about the DPI/CPI rate!"
