We all know that traffic is the main resource of any website. Traffic is like the blood of website. No traffic, no value for the website. So, to generate traffic, we know webmasters try to do many things. For example: SEO, social promotion, paid advertising etc. I know SEO is one of the best ways to generate traffic. But, it requires time, careful planning and investment.

On the other hand, as a free and quick way of generating traffic, many webmasters are using classified sites to attract targeted traffic. And many webmasters think, this is the best way to get quick results.

Do you think that classified sites can help to generate traffic by free ad posting?

Hi AjLancer, I Never got very good results from posting on Craigslist. You can a few sales here and there but the time that it takes doesn't ever seem to scale. A big problem with Craigslist is that anyone can flag your posts. Expect the competition to flag in order to try and keep you out. This totally annoying and cause you to re-post. Again for the effort it takes to post and manage in multiple cities It isn't worth it. There is software you can use but it is very clunky at best and can get you ip banned. Here is how I get some results, not great but it works playing the numbers game. On Craigslist I go to computer under gigs and read post from members who need specific services. If they don't have a phone number I don't respond. I also don't respond for people looking for a commission only post. These never seem to pan out or turn into a sale. Be picky with who you communicate with because it can be a huge time suck. There are a lot of people looking for free.

Hi Webguy2024 thanks for replay and sharing your nice experience. I do agree with you. I have little experience for craigslist and backpages. I had worked few month to promote my some product on craigslist. But, I just got very poor response. And backpages response too poor also. I thought I should get at least few number of real traffic. But, I could not. Because, my post has ghosted very often. I do not know why? I am sure I posted by following of term. And after 3 months my account disabled. So, it is very difficult to get some traffic from craigslist. It is just waste of time.

They might help a bit, but I would not spend a lot of time and effort or place much hope on classified sites when there are various other options that in my opinion tend to be much more effective. Even though you might get some traffic it is not going to be easy either because there are so many other ads on the classified site that it is easy to get your ad buried away beneath more recent ones. So you end up posting often, probably daily, and on various classified sites, which ultimately takes a considerable amount of your time.

Hi EliteWriter thanks for your reply. Yes I do agree with you. They might help a bit not much. I had used craigslist and some other classified site. And I continuously post on several classified site at least 3 months. But ultimately I just for very poor amount of traffic. And that very poor less than my effort. If I could used some other method, than I may got more good result. I think very common problem to post on classified site is flag or ghosting the post. And I posted some ad each day by following all rules. Despite of my post has removed.

I have spent quite a bit of effort in the past posting on classifieds sites and yes I got some traffic but I am not so sure that all the energy I put in was worthwhile for the amount of traffic I got. Maybe I was doing it wrong Is it effective to bring traffic from classified sites?

Hi Lynne thanks for your reply. I think you did not do nothing wrong with ad posting. I have posted world top classified sites like craigslist and backpage. I did not get much traffic as my expected. Most problem is they flag my advertise and remove from system. Which really awful to me. I tried hard to make my ad live. But out of 10 only 5 may live. And response too low. Like per ad 1 or 2 interested visitors may convert. It is really low amount. And really less then my worth. More than maximum traffic I can get by social promotion within same time.

Yes Ajlancer, I have found social traffic to be much more beneficial than classifieds ads ever were. For me classifieds were more trouble than help.
I don't mind working hard and putting effort in if there are corresponding results. I don't even mind if it takes a long time for the results to show, but this never amount to much.

I have heard so many people saying classifieds sites works so well, but I have yet to see it myself.

Don't know exactly what classifieds websites are and how do they work. Search a little and it seems it's all about free ads on certain websites, which doesn't sound to good from my perspective.
Can you guys give me a direct example of how you can get traffic from classifieds websites?

Well if you have some spare time to do it, submit your links or services to classified ads. Nothing is too much. But i also didn't have much success in getting web traffic from classified ads sites. maybe i was doing it wrong, but as much i can see, others didn't have some great success either. These sites are mostly for buying and selling where people looking for something cheap as chips or freebies and it's hard to get serious buyers in solid numbers. I bet that creating coupon for your services and submitting to big and popular coupon websites can make better results

You mean by classified sites are sites with classified ads? We have several here and I see website links posted. However, it’s not every day that I go to that classified sites and actually on occasions only when I am looking for a used item. If posting on classified sites is for the purpose of spreading the backlink of your website, I guess it is better to post in social media networks because that will be more potent.

I'm a numbers game guy and getting some traffic from classified sites to me is good, anything that can give me or help me in the numbers is helpful. But it's my experience that such sites contribute only a miniscule number of traffic and conversions unlike getting traffic in social media platforms which always gives me a good number of traffic and conversions.
