SEO for Facebook internal search?

Have any of you optimize a Facebook Page in terms of keywords?
I did this sort of experiment.

It worked like this. My client wanted his facebook page to appear inside Facebook's search results for certain keywords.
So I optimized the About content as well as the next 20 posts schedule for that week.
2 Weeks later his facebook page was appearing in the search result for those keywords.

But here comes the strange part, I've created a total new account and tested to see if the page I just optimized will come up in the search result. It didn't.
Only after I friend myself I start getting that page in my facebook search.
Bottom line such optimization will work only for people that liked that page and for friends of people that liked that page. It's all social constructed, unlike Google for example which is way more general and static for its search results.

Facebook search is very strange to me and it's hard to figure out really good optimization of pages. I guess post titles and hashtags giving better results then any fan page optimization.

I am having much better results with Twitter profiles optimization which are working better on Google search

Can't seem to find much information on how the Facebook search actually works. Why do certain old, inactive facebook pages are first for certain keywords? Guess Facebook has a lot of work to do on their search algorithm to become relevant....

Oh that is interesting. I have never tried to SEO my Facebook page for Facebook search but yes I can see it might be useful to have a look at that.

I do think you are right though and that Facebook works in a very different way to search engines but if something will help just a little bit in some way for getting my business seen then why not give it a go!

That's interesting. I do not really understand how Facebook works in this regard. There seems to be a lot of mystery about how the Facebook search really works. There are those who say that whoever stalks you will appear in friends you may know but I do not know if there is any truth to that either. It seems to be all shrouded in mystery and according to what you said Optimization is not something that has any rules on Facebook. The best one can do is use keywords as you did, but also promote a lot such as with Facebook ads I guess.

I didn’t know that you can optimize a Facebook page for purposes of the Facebook search. Maybe that’s a good practice for SEO in the real world. But now you see that an optimized Facebook Page only runs good for the followers which mean that when someone does a search in Facebook about a particular page then your Facebook page will just be an ordinary page and the optimization is of no benefit if the searcher is not your friend or follower.
