    Do "question-and-answer" links work as a backlink?

    I was wondering if sites as Quora and Yahoo Answers have any positive effect on your backlink profile, aka a link on those website will push you up in the SERPS?

    What is your opinion?

    I have a few people with high level accounts on yahoo answers that get my payments every month to add my URL whenever they can lol Do "question-and-answer" links work as a backlink? I've definitely seen a spike in rankings from just Yahoo answers and I will always pay my writers to post my links on there Do "question-and-answer" links work as a backlink?

    I've only had a few posts on Quora so I can't give you a Yes or No on that since I don't have enough statistics to do so. I would assume that the same benefits I get from Yahoo answers would be similar to what you would get from Quora, but the only way to know for yourself is to test test test Do "question-and-answer" links work as a backlink?

    In general, question and answer type websites are great for building up your own websites. This is because people are asking legitimate questions and you can convert them into a sale if you respond quick enough. If you write a good enough answer it can be labeled as the top or best answer and it will get pinned just under the question. This is a great thing because whenever someone has the same question they will usually type it into their address bar and see the Yahoo answers or quora page where you have the best answer. This will funnel sales to your pages for along time since you gave an educational post that helped them out. I really wish that people clicking through from quora or yahoo answers would spend $3,000 a day on my websites Do "question-and-answer" links work as a backlink? But that's just a dream lol.

    It depends on which Question/Answer websites you use. As Lynne already stated that Quora is good for building authority, however other sites are spammed to no end with backlinks. I tend to think those sites that are spammed with thousands and thousands of backlinks are not good for quality.

    It doesn't matter about quantity of backlinks, what the search engines look for is quality. So I would post the links a couple of times on Quora, or another authority question/answer website. I don't know if Yahoo is labeled as quality due to all the spam the website has. Yahoo worked years ago, but now it's gone down hill.

    Yeah I thought a lot of Q & A websites would be full of spam.., but never really had much of a look. Razzy has some nice feedback on this topic now I think I should go and spend some time on Quora and Yahoo.

    Yes they surely are. Both Yahoo Answers and Quora are great options. They will help you to build authority and they will also enable you to improve your reputation especially if you make it a point to offer a valuable and helpful answer. Obviously you cannot just answer bluntly and expect to get good results. You need to elaborate a bit and make sure it is an answer that has a certain value.

    I don't know for a fact by I have heard Quora is very good for building authority so I would assume the answer is yes.

    Links in questions and answer sites count as backlink. However, in order to profut from the backlinks your links must be shared in the reputed question and answer sites. For instance your links on yahoo answers, quora will create high quality backlinks for your site.

    There are discussions in this site that say Yahoo Answers is one good site to have your backlink because it is an authority site. That means getting your backlink there is not that easy because when the site is an authority that simply points to a strict measure of filter and screening. Nevertheless when you are able to place your backlink in a question and answer site then you are lucky.
