Freelancers: Are you using PC Screen Protector for your eyes?

I’m using computers since I was 9 years old, and I’ve never used any screen protector to protect my eyes while using it, because I never faced any problem with them. However, I know that this might be something useful, especially when you're working all day on your computer. I’m working full time, and at least 16h/day.. Just wonder if you are using those screen protectors, and are they helping you to do your job ??

I've never used a screen protector and my eyes are just fine. Wait, where's my keyboard?

Is the sole purpose of a screen protector to just block some kind of harmful ray coming off your screen? Or is it to lower the light level of your screen so your eyes aren't being bombarded with light for hours upon hours? If it's the ladder, than I could just reduce the brightness of my screen in my settings Freelancers: Are you using PC Screen Protector for your eyes?

Do you think I could just wear my UV blocking sunglasses and I'll be good to go? They work for the sun, can they work for a computer too?

Are there screen protectors that are used for preventing scratches and damage to the screen? I would probably get one of those if they were priced right. I have 2 scratches in my screen and they annoy the hell out of me because they're right in the center Freelancers: Are you using PC Screen Protector for your eyes?

I am using our laptop today. In our desktop we have bought one screen protector. There is no screen protector in our laptop. I hope there is one that we can use.

No I do not use a screen protector. I used to have one once and it sort of distorted the colors in my opinion, so I ended up removing it. I am one who spends a lot of hours on the computer every day, and it has been like this for the past 10 years. However I have never had any eye problems, at least till now. Apart from that I confess that I generally set the brightness to be a bit high, because dimly lit screens are not my favorites. I find it best to take a 20 minute break when my eyes feel a bit strained.

I have never used a screen protector before, but I have heard of them. I sometimes get headaches if I work online for too long, do you think a screen protector might help with this?

I have never used a screen protector, however I think I should. My eyesight is so horrible, I am blind as a bat. My prescription is a BAD one. The eye doctor even told me that she didn't know how I operated without any glasses. She was wondering if I was driving, and how I operated on a daily basis. I just simply told her that I wasn't driving (because i wasn't) and that I was so use to being blind that it was my normal and I was able to move around.

I can see objects close up, however distance is an issue. I can not see anything if it is like 3 feet away from me. I have to squint, or move closer to see it. A lot of people can see this distance with no trouble but for me, nope!

I also should get a screen protector, but if it dims the screen I can always just dim the light on the screen itself, right?

Hey procoder,
I have never used screen protectors. Is it like the protectors one can have for phones? I mean the plastic thing? I suppose screen protectors are like gaming glasses? - They prevent damage on your eyes.. But does it really work??

You can get gaming glasses here for instance:

I have good eyesight and I've never had any major problems with my eyes or my sight, but I do get headaches. More or less everyday, and that's getting tiresome. Do you think something like this would be able to prevent my headache?

Best Regards.

I get headaches if I don't drink enough water. Are you fully hydrated while you're working? Do you drink enough water, and are you moving about and looking away from your computer every so often?

If I'm in a dark room with just a laptop screen this would definitely give me a headache. Make sure to be in a brightly lighted room while you're working. Always make sure to have some water with you. I learned this the hard way.

Nope, probably not. I can't say that I drink water at all actually... Freelancers: Are you using PC Screen Protector for your eyes?

I do drink water but I drink way more energy drinks. I also move around a bit and I'm taking short breaks every now and then, but probably not as much or as long breaks as I should take.

I tend to get more headaches if I'm working in the dark compared to with the lights on, so I usually do turn the lights on before I start the day.

Hi procoder thaks for your question and for remind me regarding such issue. I have been using computer over 16 years now but I never thought regarding screen protector and I never feel any problem to my eyes. And last 7 years+ I am working as full time freelancer and I have to give time over 14-16 hours for freelancing job and lately I feel bit problem to my eyes. It is becoming fuzzy while I work for long time. So, it may time to make decision to use such type of product. But, I do not know what is the better. Will I use screen protector or am I need to use eye glass?

I have been using computer frequently for almost a year now unlike before when I only used it once in a while. I never use any PC screen protector. I only reduce the light to a lower percentage or to zero. I now intend to use my phone in almost all online work since I got myself a new phone that can support the sites I write on. My smartphone brightness is reduced to zero

Is like I'm the only one having this problem with having to used my laptop all day, maybe because I had a bad eyesight before now and this kind of aggravated it because my eyesight became worse with everyday using of the screen.I now use my sunglasses to protect my eye when I'm working.

Since we are now using TV for our computer’s monitor, I don’t think the screen protector is that very important anymore unlike in the olden times when the computer monitor was using tubes. There was an unnecessary glare according to users that they need the filter to block some of the glare. Maybe in the near future the monitors that will come out in the market will be eye-friendly.
