What software or program are you using for screen recording?

Hello,
I've been using Open Broadcaster Software for this purpose. OBS is frequently used by streamers on twitch.tv for instance. I find it very easy to use and in the past I used Sony Vegas to add effects and do all sort of things with the video.

I've obviously heard about Camtasia for instance, but it seems like it's for "the professionals" and not for the "average" user so to speak.

Snagit is another one I've heard of, but never tried. Is that any good?

What software or program would you recommend, and why would you recommend it?

Best Regards,

I am using Screen Cast O Matic, it works well for me because it is so simple to use. I am using their free option at the moment which gives you up to 15 minutes of recording. I can record through my webcam or my screen, or my screen with my webcam in the bottom right hand corner.

I am currently using this for all my Youtube videos. The paid version is only $25 a year and then their watermark is removed from the recording which is nice, plus the 15 minute time limitation is removed. There are also editing options if you have the paid version, but I don't know if I will ever figure out how to edit!

I don’t think there is software that is for “professionals” but not for the “average”. I am only the “average” person but I use Camtasia and I really like it. I only do it for casual screen recording but the software is very user friendly and easy to use. I have never used Snagit and have only used Camtasia and I highly recommend it.

Pardon my ignorance on the subject. Do you mean to say that you can record into video the screen of your computer while you are operating it? And that it can also include an audio recording huh. I am surprised by this software because that is a good tool that can be used for tutorials. You can record the procedure of a particular tutorial and it will be captured on video. That’s great. Thanks for this added knowledge.
