Steam Game Sale: Please help me pick a few good games

Again, it's time for the Steam summer game sale.

I've already purchased a lot of games so far, including Ark Survival Evolved, Ages of Empires 2 and 3, Orion and The Isle.

The sale ends tomorrow, July 4, 10 AM PDT. Please go look at the site and tell me what I need to buy. I wait all year to buy good games and when it's time, then I can't think what to buy. :/

I hesitate and then miss out and have to wait until Christmas to get more Steam game deals.

I wanted CSGO, but my friend in Amsterdam says it's not the game for me as guys rage on it all the time and we could not play on the same server anyway as he lives there and I live here and there would be too much lag for me. :/

Also, I liked the idea of The Dying Light: The Following, is that any good?

Not so much into shooter games. It's not that I mind violence in video games but just never really played them a lot. And, there are so many, I don't really know which franchise to get into. Maybe you could recommend a really good shooter game to get into, something where you can play on servers.

Far Cry Primal, that's good? I like hard core survival games, anything with a man vs nature, building/crafting, player killing also - but not killing for the sake of killing but as an integral part of survival. I like a good story line, amazing graphics if possible, Indie games (like the Long Dark) anything like that.

I don't have any zombie type games, which one(s) are the best now, nothing old only recent.

Bored of my current collection and stocking up, would appreciate help. Thanks.

Hey Beverly,
CS is a fantastic game and I've played it "seriously" in a team and all that several years ago. As a "semi-pro" kind of. However, that was during CS 1.6. Nowadays, CSGO is the deal and that's, in my experience, even a better game. But, I wouldn't recommend anyone to play it, in case they can't handle whine and crazy russians screaming. (You can mute the voice though)

I would recommend ARK: Survival Evolved, in case you're into survival games, the man vs nature thing. However, ARK includes Dinosaurs which you can tame, breed and use for harvesting and in fights. That's pretty neat! I've played it for hours. You can play it with friends or alone, even though it's a better gaming experience if you're playing with friends.

You build houses, decorate, tame, breed, harvest and, as you're a human, you'll need to eat. So go out there and hunt some dinos!

Best Regards,

My friend has this game, Ark Survival: Evolved and loves it too but he says you need a monster computer to make it run. :/

I have only purchased but not played the game. I'm worried it will not load, very similar to what happened with Rust - another survival game.

I will definitely consider CS:GO. I've seen some live streams and it looks insanely fun and fast paced. Steam Game Sale: Please help me pick a few good games

Yeah, that is true.. You'll need a great computer to run the game smoothly. I didn't think of that, as you only wanted game recommendations. Steam Game Sale: Please help me pick a few good games

CS:GO is another game that actually requires a good graphics card to run smoothly, especially compared to older versions of CS like CS 1.6. But it'll run much smoother than ARK will, even with an older computer.

I hope you'll find some goodies during this sale. I won't be buying any games myself this time.

Thanks. I hope the game runs good too. I am going to try to install Ark on my desktop which has pretty good graphics (the laptop is mediocre graphics, not intended for gaming). I have pretty good luck running high intensity games on the desktop, though I don't use it much. I like it way better for gaming, when I actually have time to game as the screen is pretty big. I will let you know if I get any other games. Just picked up CS:Go, by the way. Steam Game Sale: Please help me pick a few good games

Can't wait to try that out.

Yeah, it's always a much better experience when you play on a desktop. At least in my opinion. I hate small screens, so a laptop just doesn't work for me when I'm gaming.

I haven't played CS:GO at all since the release of Overwatch. That game is awesome! However, it's insanely hard to win a game when you're playing with a bunch of random people. In CS:GO, one can have a huge impact mid-round by awesome play and a clutch for instance. That doesn't work in Overwatch. At least not as easily. In OW you'll need excellent teamplay in case you're up against a good team.

Such a shame! The gamemakers always find a way to nerf the game and alienate the core fan base of the game. Never sure if they are trying to improve the game or just move out the veteran gamers from that specific game to attract new gamers.

Sale time is a good time to stock up. So there are some good games which you could try out. For instance, Dying Light is a good zombie game. Then there is Killing Floor which is also quite good.
There is Shadow of Mordor which is very discounted and it is a nice game. Dishonored is also great.
Far Cry Primal is another great game. For shooter games I would recommend Call of Duty Black Ops III, as it is at 50% off, and This War of Mine which is about survival and management, which is also heavily discounted. Dark Souls III is a challenging game

Some of my friends have played COD: Black Ops III, looks pretty intense. Is the point just to kill other players, there is no story line or are there missions? If it's a good price, then i will likely get this game.

There is a single player campaign as with all COD games. However most people play COD for its multiplayer gameplay. There are various kinds of matches you can play in multiplayer such as Capture the Flag, Death Match, Seek and Destroy and Demolition, to name a few. The fun thing about COD is that as you level up you will be able to unlock different guns and with different skins.

It seems to me that there are a lot of available and free games now, and you should only buy if you really want something special, or when you want to support developers. Games like Apex Legends, League of Legends, Dota 2 even the new Call of Duty are now freely available, and have just a huge online. And with sites like eloboost and others, you can quickly get back in the game and play with good players
