What's the best cure for cracked winter lips?

In the winter weather, my lips always dry and crack and sometimes bleed. Is there a natural or store bought remedy for cracked lips? They hurt so much now, I just want relief.

Shea butter is really good for moisturizing dry, cracked winter lips. You should try it out. Shea butter is rich in vitamins A, E and F and penetrates into your lips very quickly to moisturize and protect against elements.

Best cure for cracked lips is "Apply mushroom oil on your belly button after taking bath everyday. No need to buy any remedies for it. It is recommended by naturopathy and I always use it.

I have heard about people applying substances to pulse points but never hte belly button. Is there a specific reason for that?

I find this to be very odd. And what exactly is mushroom oil?

Don't lick your lips. This is what causes your lips to crack and bleed as the digestive enzymes in your mouth will eat away at your lip skin.

This will cause dry lips.

Drink lots of water, apply vaseline. I always keep myself hydrated and I refrain from using any chemical lip balms unless they are organic.

We were in Japan last March at the end of winter. Just a few hours out of the plane, my lips have started drying. What I did was to cover my mouth with hanky to shield my lips against the terrible cold of the winter night. When we reached the hotel, my husband was complaining that his lips was starting to crack. The concierge in the hotel advised us to buy lip balm. It's like lard but has no taste. It's a good remedy for the winter cold.

There are so many lip balms available in nowadays. This is what I usually use for my cracked lips in winter. I am actually using the Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm and it is really good. If you are looking for homemade remedies then you can try to apply organic coconut oil or olive oil on your lips. Those may help too.

My grandma showed me some tips, that have worked out great.
- Drink a lot of water, coconut water, fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated.
- Stop biting or licking your lips, it will make it worse.
- Before going to bed, take a soft toothbrush, pass it really gentile on your lips, first with warm water and later with a drop of baby oil.
- Apply a very thin layer of Vaseline, the one that is a lip balm or medicated lip balm.
- Repeat every night before going to bed
Believe me, you will see the results since day one.

I have gotten some points from this piece but for me because I'm always badly affected by cracked lips,I go everywhere with my lipgloss.I don't allow my lips to get too dry without applying them.So you could do same,Apply lipgloss all the time.

Getting a wet gloss can help in keeping your lips moist all day during this kind of period. That was what I always use for I have got soft lips as well that gets affected during the dry season in my country.

What is wet gloss, is it the same as the lip gloss? I live in a tropical country hence I am not familiar with winter. I only experienced cracked lips when we went to Beijing and then to Japan. In our last trip to South Korea last year, winter was coming and the cold wind was trying to crack my lips so I was covering my mouth with a handkerchief. The hotel receptionist said that I should eat hard candy so my lips will not crack.

Me too, my lips always chaff when it's cold. A good thing to do is to buy some lip gloss with a fruity scent. Or you could try eating some normal hard candies.
