Yes traffic is very important. But then again a high pr may get others to see you more as well.

I prefer StumbleUpon because it gives you the traffic directly. While users can vote up or down on others social bookmark sites without visiting, the stumble is direct traffic. The others require you to have a lot of followers.

I can't really figure out how to make StumbleUpon work. As a consumer, it's fairly easy. But as a blogger, the site makes no sense as to how it generates traffic.

I will recommend you that article: http://heedpages.com/traffic-sales...working-methods/ It is written by me! You'll get info about driving traffic using StumbleUpon! The only fall down is that user read content and rate to switch to another site; the standard Google Analytic tracking return a 100% bounce rate. It can be fixed with custom tracking (scrolling tracking by example! )

I think reddit is the best social bookmarking site when it comes to generating traffic. However, in order to make most from reddit, you will have to be very active on redit. You need to participate in the discussion. If you cannot remain very active, you can use Pinterest. It is said soon Pinterest will replace facebook and twitter for social media traffic. You can use other social book marking sites as well, however, to benefit from these sites, you need to have big followers and remain very active on the site.

I have been reading about Reddit and Pinterest so I guess those are the most popular social bookmarking sites based on the discussions in this forum but I cannot say if they are the best. My take on social bookmarking site is the amount of traffic that it gets every day. When the site has thousands of visitors then it is a good place to post your site’s backlink otherwise the backlink will just stagnate.
