Yes I do think that you can. If you have a niche and post in related groups, others in this niche will be able to see your page and may like or join.

If the group is similar to your own group or page then you are likely to stir up interest by posting relevant and thought provoking comments in that group. The users will read your comments and appreciate your contribution and follow your name/link back to your page. Just be sure to post the comments signed in as your page admin, not your personal username.

I get regular sales and inquiries from facebook group postings. I regularly posts in multiple facebook groups. I believe that you all will get sales if you educate and promote your business appropriately in the related facebook groups. Recently I have seen these posts are counted as inlinks also. So you should utilize this potentiality in favour of your business.

More than 90% of facebook groups are spammed till death. So, personally I feel it is useless to post in some random fb group for promoting a site.

I think most of Facebook groups are spammed and day by day people are becoming cunning to earn more money. As a result, they are adopting unfair means.

Yahoo groups are very similar, spammed heavily with links and irrelevant ads. Though many groups are heavily moderated.

I would think that they would be worth posting in. Even if you only get a few to see it then you are still successful.

I think that they are a great way to promote your site. I would not say that they are a waste at all.

So long as you are taking time to really get invested into the group, then it will result in more traffic to your Facebook page or your site, if you are allowed to advertise a link.

If the group is only for spamming links, then you won't have very good results posting there. You will need to find groups that encourage activity and participation.

There are many Facebook groups in all sorts of niches. If you are a writer and own a blog, you are likely to join a blogging group where you can easily post your blog post links weekly. There are even advertising groups, though most are filled with spam.

Only join one or two groups a day, otherwise you will get flagged by Facebook as a spammer.
Joining just one relevant Facebook group a day will give you access to hundreds of groups by the end of the year.
Just be sure the groups you join are relevant to your niche and allow you to network with others who might be interested in what you have to offer.

Once I was invited to a Facebook group about losing weight. It is in our language and the name is Bawas-Taba which means reducing fat. I enjoyed posting on it because it is an exchange of experiences about weights. Most of the members are female and obviously has weight problems like me. It was fun while it lasted because there were only few members, about less than 50, and eventually the page stagnated when posts dwindled. The group that I am presently enjoying is the herbal treatment group. However, it’s all about sickness and diseases.

I am a member on a number of facebook groups. There was a time when I used to share my content with these groups regularly, However, I have stopped sharing these days.
The main reason is there is no interaction on your post. The members of these groups are only interested in posting, they do not interact. I responded to other members' post, however, only a few reciprocated.
I think a better way to promote your work is your own facebook pages. However, you need to build followers.
