Ever since Google Penguin, forum signatures have been suspect in quality. Anytime you get a sitewide backlink, it can be bad, especially if the site doesn't relate to your own. With that being said, if the forum matches your content, you could go for a forum signature backlink. Though honestly, an actual link within a post is so much better.

Are you sure the signature link is not sitewide? It appears on every post automatically. Isn't that auto generated by a forum code? It's not printed in the post like a fake signature. Not disputing that you are getting good success with forum signatures. Maybe your experience is unique.

Yes, forum signatures are sitewide, and this means that forums should be related with the site you are linking in forum signature link, unrelated signature links are not worthful.

For this reason, you might want to limit the subforums where you post, even on niche forums. For instance, if the forum is about beauty (and your site is related to skincare), only posting in beauty related subforums (skincare/cosmetics, etc) and not the general chat subforum would be better. That way all posts on the pages being backlinked from would be related to your site.

That is a better idea beverly, I didn't thought it that way I regularly post the threads and replies randomly and good number of them are from the off topic and Introductory sub-forums, however it is not just necessary that you have to only post in the sub forum related to the niche to get backlinks , you can get a backlink from the repetitive domain even if you post on introduction sub forum as Google have given a backlink from a forum through introduction sub forum to one of my sites.

I have seen that if you contribute and participate in forums discussion you will get good knowledge at the same time. Few Forums provide do follow signature which will be benefits to generate traffic for your website.

That is a better idea beverly, I didn't thought it that way I regularly post the threads and replies randomly and good number of them are from the off topic and Introductory sub-forums, however it is not just necessary that you have to only post in the sub forum related to the niche to get backlinks , you can get a backlink from the repetitive domain even if you post on introduction sub forum as Google have given a backlink from a forum through introduction sub forum to one of my sites.

In an introductory thread, you can always describe more about your niche or specialty. And, even if you are linking from a signature line, the words on the page would be similar enough to the page being linked to. That's an excellent way to get a backlink from a related page.

Yes they appear on every post that you make but I do believe you can check the box that says show my signature.

Forum signatures are a great way to get some exposure to your site. It allows you to reach a much bigger audience.

I like the idea of using forum signatures to get traffic to your site. And like Kat said the exposure is very nice. I think that if you are going to do this, you should really make yourself known on a site and not just be there to spam your site but rather be a member that contributes well.

Like robertman said, forum signatures are NOT sitewide. It only shows on pages where you posted a reply, NOT on all site pages. Unless you post on all threads...

Forum signatures get some good traffic to your site. But you really would have a hard time posting on all threads, so I do not think that could be an issue with anyone.

Remember... Make sure that the forum you are posting on to achieve signature backlinks have their forum signatures as Not "nofollow". Also, dont spam the forum or break the rules, yes you will get a backlink, but you'll lose it soon when a mod or admin removes the post.

I agree. If you spam, then you are just asking to be dropped from the site, or have the post removed. It is best to follow all rules and post relevant things to the site you are on.

Forum signature gives us advantages if we have gained this link from relevant source. It doesn't matter that link attribute is Do Follow or No Follow but it has to be with relevant source.

I don't think every forum will give you Do Follow back links but you can certain increase popularity from forums.

You can become known as an expert in a niche by posting on forums and leaving relevant helpful comments for others. Then linking back with a signature line to your own articles. Best to deeplink though, not just link to a home page, which seems artificial to Google.

Linking back on your site using signature link is too common, and only helps your site's main page. How about posting a link to one of your articles on a related discussion, on the post itself.

It's a really good idea. Getting a link within a forum post, not just on a signature line might seem more credible to google.

If you are active on the forums where you have shared your signature, you can drive traffic to your site. Forum signatures are also counted as backlinks. Backlinks from high ranking forums improve the ranking of your website.
